Umm, so.. why are all armor types crafted by the same skill?

It just feels really odd when taking into account how all the other skills are broken up, and it actually took me a while to even notice this was the case.

Thoughts? I think it might be an improvement if there was some separation (like how some weapons are engineering).

Why do I need iron to make a linen robe?

That’s all I can say about armor crafting.

Buttons and shit? XD

I don’t understand the post… Armor is made in the outfitting station and the forge…

Are you suggesting making two different armor skills?

Yeah

Gambeson did use some metal woven into the cloth padded layers to protect key organs without sacrificing mobility

Kinda like why is oakbalm not made from arcana? And why isn’t gemstone dust from stone cutting?

Why do you think that splitting armoring into two separate trade skills would be an improvement? I can’t come up with any, even theoretical, benefit of that. Especially, given that number of active trophies / town buffs is limited.

I think he wants people to choose one or the other so he doesn’t have as.many people competing for sales

I don’t know anything about the trophy or town buff system. I was just thinking it would be decent in general. So that different people can be skilled in different areas. That, or make it to where all weapons are made by weapon crafting. Don’t really see the point in them being different.

Also, and I know this will irk some, but it would make sense from an immersion aspect. Like why would a person that been making cloth all the time be able to craft a master piece of plate armor?

Weaponsmithing makes sword, great axe, warhammer, rapier, shield is listed, but Im not certain it gives weapon xp per forum posts.

Armoring makes light medium and heavy and bags. An argument can be made that each of those tiers holds head, chest, hands, legs, feet, but I dont think splitting armoring is really beneficial, nor does it change that those that are doing armoring would simply level up all of those skills. If anything, it would probably make it harder to get armor made if you were swimming in drops.

some games split cloth and metal armour and make them dependant on each other for certain parts, to invoke trade. Amazon decided not to go down that route…

there are plus and minus points for both ways tbh

though changing it now would cause complete outrage and shouldn’t happen.

You might want to read up on that…getting crafting skill to 200 doesn’t necessarily mean that you can make money right away. Weapons and armor generally follow the “600 gear score or no deal” rule.

In this game, armor is armor, regardless of the materials used. That’s why a cook can make an omelette and bread even though one is made from grain and the other eggs, one is fried and the other baked. Skills carry over from one aspect of a trade to another in NW. The only concession I will give you is that engineers craft some weapons that weaponsmiths cannot, but other than that, given the way things are categorized, what exists makes sense. If they chose to make blacksmiths instead of armorers, or leatherworkers, etc., then what you are saying makes sense.

For the zippers silly…
