Why would you do maintenance during prime time, especially unannounced? I play on “Castle of Steel” and I was in the middle of a quest; fighting an elite mob and the mob wigs out and then I see a message about “lag detected” and bam! Character Select screen. Login server in maintenance.
Sorry about the inconvenience this might cause since I can see that you were playing and suddenly the server being with a maintenance, when “flash maintenance” happens are to fix minor issues or add quick patches, either way all information about maintenance and server status are posted in the website, feel free to visit them for future references.
Cathulhu, This would be an appropriate response if this was announced maintenance, or if either of the sites you linked to contained any useful information about the maintenance. server-status only tells us which worlds are under maintenance (and we already know that the one we care about is, or we wouldn’t be looking) and there is NO information on either the News page, or the Official announcements Forum about these unannounced maintenance periods.
Vlaanderen was just switched off with no warning, and is not even giving a vague estimate for when it will return (according to some, it originally said 6:55PM when it went down at 6:30PM, but considering it’s now 7:47, that was less than accurate.
It’s not hard to articulate what we players want from this, and that’s some transparency. If a realm is going to be taken down for maintenance to fix an issue, post it in the Announcements with an estimated uptime, then if that time passes and it’s not up, give us a quick status update to let us know what’s wrong and if we are looking at something quick, or a major problem that could keep us from playing for the rest of the night.
I just got home from a 9 hr shift and I was looking to relax with a couple of hours of farming, but now I’m going to have to find something else to do for the night, because I have no way of knowing when or if the server will come up tonight, and no one is telling us anything.
I totally hear you @HouseofKannan and as a gamer I totally understand, I’m really sorry about any inconvenience this might cause, I will make sure to pass this feedback to be heard and my sincere apologies.
