Unexpected teleport when dying in one of the starting locations

  • Describe the issue you are experiencing: Upon creating a new character and getting through the initial tutorial I was spawned in Everfall with the first quest telling me to Investigate the Watchtower. Instead of doing this I decided to head straight to the level 4 area and try to find myself a new weapon, but in doing so I ended up dying, The game prompted me to respawn at a Random location to which it spawned me at the Watchtower in Windsward. Subsequent deaths only gave me the option to respawn at the Windsward Watchtower, even though my starting quest is still in Everfall, 2.74km away.

  • Is this a bug or an exploit: Bug

  • (if a bug) How did the issue effect your gameplay: My character is now almost 3km away from the starting quest which cannot be abandoned.

  • (if a bug) Were you able to recover from the issue: The only option is to walk all the way from the Windsward starting location to the Everfall starting location in order to continue. Resetting the quest does not change the location.

  • What are the steps to reproduce the issue as you experienced:
  1. Create a new character;
  2. Complete the tutorial;
  3. Do not complete the first part of the Sole Survivor quest by visiting the Watchtower, instead find some enemies who can kill you;
  4. Respawn.

As a small update, upon walking the 2.7km back to the Everfall starting location it didn’t then update my respawn location to that Watchtower, instead it kept the Windsward Watchtower as the spawn location.
