I’ve come to the end. Gonna list the things I liked and disliked but after returning recently and giving the game another try, I’ve had enough.
The final straw was the respawn bug in a Mutated Exp. First time I’ve encountered it, but the distaste was forming prior to them anyway. I won’t be returning.
Likes:
Graphics, scenery, atmosphere, sound. All immersive to some extent.
Combat at times feels fun a rewarding. But there’s also massive dislikes, more about that later. I love the variety, I enjoyed trying out different combos and a lot of them felt viable and fun…in PvE…
I loved the idea of PvP in this game but the idea is about as far as it goes and that’s all I have to say on that in terms of likes.
The style of clothing is awesome…but then again another dislike about this and I’m sure you know exactly what it is.
The dungeons were cool, except that eye burning Tempest level, even though it’s cool for the frst couple of times but then burns holes in your eyes due to the amount of red. Migraine inducing.
Dislikes:
PvP is the biggest failure I’ve ever seen. The desync, the stupidly overtuned weapons, the sluggishness of combat, the stun locking, the gimping and making things generally worse than before.
The grind. The game doesn’t respect your time at all. The game is ridiculously grindy. Why should any of that grind effect PvP? PvP is supposed to be the main component to your game but you’re gonna create such a massive gap between the players that you made PvP the most unenjoyable element in the game and this is coming from a huge PvP player. I was really hoping PvP would’ve been a nice little addition I can’t stand any of it.
No customizing your outfits. SWTOR did the same exact thing and it’s exactly what made me quit. I can’t style my player? Good, then I won’t play your game. They’re gonna release a transmog, it’s only a matter of time, but it’s gonna cost money watch. Money that I won’t be around to be tempted to spend on.
Combat is clunky 95% of the time. Even the boss mechanics. The cleave attacks are too frequent. I’ve tanked enough in MMOs to know there are brief periods of losing aggro, but the frequency in this game is way too much. It’s frustrating to tank in this game. And then playing melee as a DPS, the constant dodging and then getting hit by cleaves is not relaxing at all.
Lastly, the pvp again. Hitboxes are ridiculous, and the tracking for some weapons make PvP a joke in NW. What sad existence PvP is in. I swear the Devs just rushed whatever they could and hope it stuck.
I’m uninstalling for good and not looking back. I don’t care if this becomes the most popular game by the end of 2022, but I HIGHLY doubt it. I see the writing on the wall. This is no different than how Marvel Avengers got so behind the curve that the hope for it ever turning things around has been written off and any joy has been removed.
I don’t only need a break from the game, I need to uninstall it and put it out my mind for good. I know there will be defenders of the game and the toxic trolls and the “can I haz yer stuffs?” memes. But it needs to be said. Your wasting your time on a crap game that doesn’t respect your time, nor does it properly punish cheaters or remove bots. You think they’re gonna make good decisions down the road? I can guarantee you the way they tune things the pendulum is gonna swing far to one side to the other without any proper balancing. If previews and beta was anything to learn from, they don’t listen. At all. Save yourself the energy. This game is already dipping under 20k on Steam. The writing is on the wall.
And that finishes the uninstall. 500 hours clocked in. I will never bother with another AGS game again.
Literally no one cares the fact u felt the need to write an essay about why youre uninstalling tells me you actually want to keep playing the game because i dont understand why else you would do this
I actually put like 3k+ hours into the game, but that was mostly from heavy and longtime alpha testing. I only lasted until about october in live, then i finally realized that all the core game problems from alpha were still there and would never change. I had survived on “it will be different when it launches” copium for over a year
Hi Dweeb, sorry to hear that you won’t be playing New World anymore, I will make sure to get your feedback sent up the chain to the Dev team so they can read through it. I wish you luck in all your future endeavors!
Just saying the devs should really really really look at pvp, people are too hard to kill rn ( talking about the light armor rollers and the mobility of the rapier and how often people can dodge roll) cc is too strong and Melee tracking is really
Bad and needs to be better.
Unfortunately this game panders to the sweaty PVP players. PVP controls the map. PVE supports and is exploited by doing so. But PVE will always be happy to grind so they do, and the top of the top PVP continually benefit from it, getting further and further ahead. Need to work on the PVP/PVE balance more.
Where I don’t completely disagree with you about the PVP combat issues… if you’re looking for 100% focus on PVP, maybe other game titles that prioritize this are more your speed.
To inform people like you that think only complains of existing players are important. The feedback of a player that have decided to quit for good is actually more critical for further game development and general balance issues, gameplay adjustments etc… than a whining of a player that spends 16 hours a day and is not happy that he still can’t dominate everyone else - so he starts complaining that he put 16 hours and didn’t get 5x times more value than the player that played 5 hours.
One of the reasons many games out there fail expectations it’s because most of them focus too much on feedback from people who are already into the game. The thrive of destroying a game based on feedback of thousand people does not justify the leaving of 10 thousand other players followed by the changes came through after that same feedback the thousand players had.
I have about 500 hours too myself and for the past 3 weeks I have total of 10 hours played probably. And honestly most of the changes coming in lately are far from what i wanna see changed. My gameplay is still the same as it was months ago with the only difference everything that I like to do in the game lost value caused by not enough sinking in the economy that over time made what I enjoyed doing worthless. So at this point even logging in to the game is just to try out something never did before for a couple of times. My gameplay hasn’t changed for better, the only thing that happened is that since i wasn’t playing 10 hours a day they have pushed progression further and further over time, devaluing everything else behind and now my only prospect is go back and grind 1 more month to try to catch up to the current viable content or what?
I have tried giving suggestions myself since november. There isn’t a single one answered or at least given any status about how the dev team thinks of it. Honestly I don’t even have a clue right now where the team is heading, what their priorities are or else… It’s just every patch feels like santa gift.
There is a lot of bug issues solved and a lot more to come I am sure. But in general the changes that impact progression/gameplay are not even clear what direction they are heading.
So they rely on streaming platforms to promote their game on release and make in-game changes to suit so called “streamer mode features” but for gods sake… After nearly 8 months… couldn’t they do even one AMA Community-Dev bond stream themselves??? Let people talk, let them ask… Let people hear what you plan on, let people hear how you feel about your own game… Me sitting here making posts that supposedly someone reads ( but not sure ) is not a relationship any of us want…
