Ive been trying to manage my warehouse where i store all my main crafting materials like resources, craft mods, and rewards: and Tuning orbs, jewlcrafting gems, just a few of multiple reagents, and all loadstone, motes, quintessence, and topaz crafting mats.
Ive been playing a little attention to the unique items limit shown to the left of weight, a long time ago i realized i dont even know how to tell what a unique item is and started looking at item that use some of my unique item space; And for the life of me i was never able to find out how to tell what a unique item is since theres nothing.
So I try last night and today to move some items around and try to find a answer this my self, when i see an item uses unique space i take it back out try to put it somewhere else - when I do that the item doesnt take up unique item space on other warehouses, only in the city where I store my crafting stuff.
What i find is that all items in the game are unique items, ever single item i put in this warehouse takes up unique item space, and i really have something like 1664 free space to use but the unique items limit *which is all items in the game" is preventing me from using this space.
So before i decide post a bug report i wanted to create a topic here to see if anyone know anything about this issue, i did look at the known issues and found nothing about this problem and read a topic that was kinda similar to this issue but not exactly.
The unique item counter does not show up till you start getting close to the 500 maximum. Every item or stack of items counts as a unique item in storage.
Thanks for the reply, so what im getting is that what amazon calls ‘unique items’ is literally every item in the game ,including its stack, so 1 tannin is 1 unique item, so is 500 tannin also just 1 unique item.
Well this is very unsettling to hear that all a unique item is really just the maximum number of slots you have in a warehouse, its not really a unique item at all!!! Its just a bucket that hold a stack of one type of item.
Hey amazon! you really need to rename this to something like Max warehouse slots!..
My god, this is mind-blowing to finally understand what that is LOL
‘Unique Items’ in new world are not warehouse slots or items at all; they are nothing more than the combination of one slot in your warehouse that is populated with anything, its just an empty warehouse slot that has something in it…
Though the following is not as accurate as my definition above; Its best to think of ‘Unique Items’ (at least its max count) as the total number of warehouse slots you can have. Its kind of ridiculous because you cant even see what that number is until you fill the total warehouse slots.
Its an absolutely ridiculous naming scheme for this, I cant believe a programmer named this they are too smart for that so I think one of there project managers… No they should be smarter than that also… IDK how it got named that but its ridiculous lol. Fun game though.
No you said every slot is a unique item, And i said the truth that it is not acuurate. but yes i said thats the best way to think of that in the end even though that is not a true definition of a ‘unique item’.
And yes its not at max like i falsely said but pretty close to max, misewell be…
anything else you want to nitpick?
Im curious what you think about this naming scheme, and if you have any thoughts on why they decided to name this ‘unique items’?
Right it isnt a unique item counter. It may be the way their system works but its not reasonable to name it a thing such as “unique item” becasue its not an item at all, etc… It not nitpicking to explain the reality of what a unique item is no more than how a scientist explains the nature of reality. Some people are just more critical thinkers than others.
It almost sounds like the issue here is how you define the term “unique”.
One side takes the term as the “hard to get named drop that you have to grind for” and the other side as the more literal correct way, that you have place for 500 different (unique) itemstacks.
Yeah, I see that one could perhaps mistake “unique” with “named highteal epic rare items” in an mmo but that’s not the case here
Im not referring to named drops or the literal form of ‘unique items’ although it is concerning why they decided to use this naming scheme.
Im just more accurately defining how new worlds, deemed term, ‘unique items’ work, and its properties, what conditions must be met for the unique item count to be counted.
Its completely false but for simplicity sake you could say in new world, unique items signifies the maximum number of warehouse slots allowed, 1 slot being 1 unique item but even that is false.
The more literal correct and accurate truth is that; you have 500 max warehouse slots you can use, but none of them can be called a ‘unique item’ until it has something in it. You might have at least 1 of every item in the game and none of those can be called a unique item unless it is sitting in a warehouse slot.
So a unique item is; a warehouse slot that contains any item, where your allowed to have 500 max. They may have it programmed a little differently but that scheme wouldnt change much, such as there may be no warehouse slots at all and maybe just unique item slots but we can just call them warehouse slots untill it contains something, then its a unique item, an item while it sits in the warehouse, counts as unique item, i think thats where the confusion is.
But this is fine, i dont have an issue with that functionality, but the naming scheme makes no sense, so much that i am curious to hear the story on how it was named unique item.
