Unrewarding tank role in OPR

So I am playing the tank (yes I’m masochist (no I’m not, don’t worry)), and OPR is my main source of PvP Experience. But I am almost always ending up 40th with barely 1k points, which makes me always sad and discouraging as I am trying my best and spending my time just for 50 umbral and 500 pvp exp. OPR is rewarding only damage dealers, and I don’t want to give up on my favourite role in the game or go pve just to farm points. That’s why I would like to share my idea how to make tank role more rewarding. Just give them points for tanking - to put it simply: blocking, and fortifying teammates with Defensive Formation (sword skill). I think it would encourage more tank players to play OPR. Share your thoughs here!

I’ve been saying this since release, OPR needs a detailed breakdown IN GAME of point system. Additionally, they need to rework how points are distributed. Damage should not be the number one source of points, all it does is promote the zerg fest and retracts from the rest of the design for OPR. Capping a point should award significantly more points, building and reinforcing should award significantly more points, damage absorbed should award significantly more points.

Forget it friend, this comes from the beginnings of the game, tank serves in this game only for some cases in expeditions, otherwise, any other content in the game is totally punitive and without opportunity for tanks. The Devs of this game only care about damage and healing, nothing more, as there are numerous requests and petitions to make the tanks minimally playable, several good arguments, still they don’t listen, so don’t waste your time

Since Devaloka is always full and desync is the worst enemy, right there with bows and muskets, I had to switch to tank, and it’s very unrewarding, but has a decent utility.

Last night I had the best OPR match in months, both teams had a few healers, 2 tanks, and an old fashioned melee ball that fought on Sol for almost 20 minutes. It was exhausting and fun as hell. Blocking a doorway, covering a retreating teammate, it’s all fun, you are not grieving (as long as you don’t insta-die)

Don’t worry about the positioning, unless you play for the screenshot, play what you like, at some point AGS will have a scoreboard for every build, and you will get mitigated damage, etc.

I play a tank in PVP, did it from day one. Today I switched to bow with the PVP reward track gear. I have to say, it’s 10X more fun to play range in OPR. Gonna stick to it for a while

Update: We just won opr 1013 to 18
I played as a tank. Even tho I was active trough entire game I get literally no rewards, no pvp exp, no opr parcel, literally nothing! I just wasted my time there. How is this even possible?

yea thats true… They should make dmg absorption also count or soemthing. Its not fair for a tank to earn less if he plays to win like the rest.

I mean if u want to be top 5 just go light with 2 aoe abilities and pop a common honing stone. It says nothing about how good you are or what you do for the team. It is meaningless in this state.

People that put in the effort for the team need to be rewared accordingly.

bump

Because AGS only caters for damage scoreboards so people running the meta can feel good about:
i KIllED MosT PEoPle
i DiD tHe MOSt dAMaGe

It sucks, I’ve been testing tank builds with spear/leeching cyclone and having lots of fun while actually pushing caps and taking the front but at the end you get last score and shit for christmas.
