When I start NW I get an error saying Unsupported video card detected!
So, somehow the game doesn’t see my GPU, which is weird, because in alpha and beta I had no such issues on the same laptop. When I press OK the game still exits. HOWEVER , when I launch Steam\steamapps\common\New World\Bin64\NewWorld.exe as Admin it does start and recognizes my card just fine, but later it crashes because it wasn’t launched through steam. This is what’s in the log, when I run as Admin:
<2021-09-28 21:59:10.750>: [Info]: - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (vendor = 0x10de, device = 0x1c20)
<2021-09-28 21:59:10.750>: [Info]: - Adapter index: 0

<2021-09-28 21:59:10.750>: [Info]: - Suitable rendering device: yes
I tried setting “run as admin” in the compatibility settings of the executable, but that made no difference. Even tried running Steam as Admin - nada!

Reply I received from New World - Support | Amazon Games
Your PC is running Windows 11 which is not supported by the game so please try to run it using Windows 10 as it shows on the official website. Due to some Direct X instructions at kernel level it’s almost sure you will get those kind of errors using A Windows version different than Windows 10
newworld.com/en-us/game/faq
Yes I know some players where able to play previous versions of New World using Windows 11 but most of them got incompatibility problems with Direct X, crashes, etc so that is the first thing you need to change if you want to enjoy New World with no problems
That is why it is in recommended and minimum specs on the website
I got the game to start
I had already played with compatibility settings, but I think it might have needed all of them…
What I did was, go to folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\New World\Bin64
select NewWorld.exe, Shift+F10 for old context menu
Properties > Compatibility > Change Settings for all Users
Check Run this Program in Compatibility mode Windows 8
Check Disable Fullscreen Optimizations
Check run this program as an administrator
