My question would be: what level are you right now? If your not level 60, I can highly recommend playing this game for now. If you already reached lvl 60 then its getting a little tricky. If you play in a bigger company you may have a really good time playing this game and all game modes it has to offer. However you already preordered Lost Ark, which is a promising game for sure. I recommend that you try Lost Ark and come back back in February, when the game is hopefully a little more polished and bugs being fixed. New World can be a fun game, but it also has its flaws ngl. If you would like to stay, then I would suggest, that you search for a static group to grind and maybe do some mutations

As for Lost Ark: I played PoE for a couple of years with the same camera angle. You get used to it. Coincidentally, PoE also has gender-locked characters - who gives a shit.

With new world it seems like all content is pretty focused towards groups but I play majority solo. I don’t have the ability to play in VC and not much time on my hands. It’s why I’m kinda iffy on it.
Also I’m level 42. And it just feels like it’s getting more of a ghost town. I just don’t wanna put time into something that’ll just drop off the face of the planet.
I mean I personally wouldn’t wanna play a female character. Everyone has their preference. On POE I played marauder and Templar so even there.
It is sadly a huge clusterfuck of a game with constant bugs. Almost every single aspect of this game is bugged from friends list, chat, dungeons, weapon swapping, icons, bosses, fast travel, looting, houses, everything is bugged >.<… it feels like a game that was fully funded but had a dev team who had never ever played an mmo before build it.
Really bad quality of life changes lately, with every new big patch they just introduce even more grinding to slow down progression instead of adding content, just more barriers, grinding grinding grinding. And every new patch has new weird af bugs that make no sense.
I don’t understand what is everyone’s problem with gender lock. It’s a bunch of moving pixels, what difference does it make if it’s a “male” or a “female”.
idk i guess some players dont really identify with their characters. some just make whatever kinda of character and just focus on the game. but i tend to kind of create a persona with my character even tho i never really vocalize it or “roleplay” so even just the character being male or female kinda matters to me. i mean i will play a female character on a game and have, just prefer not to really.
Ahh man, I mean I heard the storage to crafting table is messed up rn, and houses were but hadn’t heard much about the rest. It does seem like they are trying to make the game harder, but at the same time the game was released a few months ago, and honestly they are probably a group of developers that have just never worked with each other before. I don’t expect the game to be great currently, I just want to know if the lifespan is worth sticking around for. I know the general public doesn’t know. But people that have played longer than I have might have a better idea. Which, I did get one comment that gave a good suggestion, get to 60 and then decide really.

As for new world specifically just wait a few months and then decide , it looks like it’s gonna fail , but who knows…
yeahh ive never seen a game fuck up this many times in a row from launch. ive also never asked these questions about a game or been worried if i should spend my time in it. all new situations lol

I usually go by this, usually, but I have also never seen this much wrong in a game before. Or better yet, this many complaints. Is it just this games community or is the game actually this bad in endgame?
All signs are pointing to this game getting canceled in a month or two. People talking about “it will be great in a year!” are delusional. The writing has been on the wall for quite some time, and every single step of the way it’s been confirmed more and more, including this recent patch. It’s atrocious, with every patch the game is in worse shape and new bugs and exploits are exposed
I watched a short documentary about anthem and I swear you could just dub over “anthem” with “new world” and leave the rest of the documentary as is and it would work. The desync, the trash loot, the lack of content… all the same issues. Anthem got canceled in case you weren’t aware.
I know this feeling of uncertainty. I myself am struggling atm If its still worth playing this game. I also enjoy soloing content and therefore know the grind that waits for you at the end game as a solo player. Honestly its not much fun If you play solo. Sure OPR can be good but all the lag and desync doesn´t help and chest runs get boring after some time.
As for the population of New World, I think you could make a break and come back later after you hit lvl 60, because as I said, the Febuary patch will focus on balancing existing content and improving optimization, which mostly affects content past lvl 60. You then will most likely experience a much more healthy end game experience with servers being merged and the game being hopefully more optimized. All that said I think that March will be the deciding month for New World. If people don´t come back when they introduce new content and stay, then the game will probably never recover from that. No matter what happens afterwards.

I think thats what many people think: I think Febuary decides If the playerbase decreases even further and March, If it has the potential to grow its playerbase again
