Seeing that the changes about the corrupted portals will happen at the same time we start to see the big ugly worm in Brimstone sands, i’m afraid AGS’s efforts to bring people back to do those portals will be a strike in the water. i think i remember hearing that the rewards for those portals will also be better, BUT i think some positive impacts for destroying those portals should be implemented, rather than penalising towns when the players lose the invasions. Or what would also make sense. keep the penalities when we lose invasions, but add town rewards when we eliminate those portals (or the other way around…for each “Main” portals not destroyed within X amount of time after its appearance, remove one level of a building in town, and give other types of rewards when people win the invasions.
To resume (since i can explain very badly sometimes), Since you guys are adding the Brimstone worms “event” make sure you add a good impact system to the corrupted portals, to compete agaisnt the “novelty” of the worms, otherwise those changes wont do much, or wont do anything.
Possible new rewards that could be implemented (suggestions)
- have more trophies per houses
- limited time boosts to territory standing bonuses (mix and match, selected few, surprise package impacting random ones, or other possiblities)
- cost diminution for city upgrades (capital, keep, lifestyles bonuses)
- faction tokens
- faction rewards price reduction
- better giveaways in supply carts in towns
- possiblity to work on 2 upgrades at once on town projects
- % of crafting materials reudced when crafting items in towns (that would be a “fourth” upgrade possible on town boards, therefore having 5 “sections” on town boards.
- new reward system, i.e. corrupted blood vials, that could increase luck to have better items in breach caches.
- for a limited time, random spawns of raw ressource nodes where the portal were destroyed ( i do emphasize on RANDOM ! )
- limited time bonuses similar (or identical) to the bonuses given via the music skill to players that helped destroy the portal
- other bonuses already “programmed” but only possible on items so far (i.e.) (excluding PVP only perks, to not create imbalances where none exists atm is very important imo)
It would be a good idea to think not only about players in general, but thinking about players and their specific love for the game (crafers, gatherers, PvE players, achievers, explorers, min/maxers), there should be something possible for everyone.
Have you thought about having “lost” portals, ancient portals etc, too ? having different types of portals could easily bring variety to an already quite repetitive task and rewards, it could also bring work to crafters, add value to some already existing equipment, etc.
Variety is key !
