Upcoming Combat Balance - Bow needs damage buff

Did you miss the whole bow rework that happened?

Did you miss the nerfs it got?

Which is made up for by being able to double shoot(since launch), shoot much faster(after rework), and various changes to animations to make it less clunky than it was?

6 of your damage increasing passives don’t even count as empowerment.

Double shoot was in game before, it’s just easier now, but it was possible. The changes to animations were absolutely deserved since most of the time you were stuck after a shot, and it wasn’t right. The faster rate of fire was part of the rework which made bow viable.

I agree with all of that.

But also they did all of that without really changing any of the passives (besides fixing the bugged one)

So now it’s possible to dome a light armor user with full resil and 35% thrust resistance for 7.6k lol.

Evasive tactics got nerfed.

I never see these numbers. You have to go 450/500 dex for that, and it’s a meme build.

Oh my bad, the only passive that counts toward the empowerment cap and has no cooldown got nerfed by 5%.

Fairly sure he was at least 150 con but you never know.

heavy got a 20% damage nerf from 170-150
fully charged heavy got a 20% damage reduction from 130-110
there was one more damage nerf i can’t recall right now

150 con bows dont hit someone for 7.8k, not unless someone is not running gems and got an opening strike surprise attack - headshot

Bow was super viable back in the day when it had a much slower fire rate. The thing that killed the bow was when they fixed the jump shot animation cancel in January/Febuary They Gutted the recovery animation for the weapon that made it feel extremely clunky to use. Pre Jump-Shot bow was the best iteration of bow. Hard hitting heavies that take a long to time charge, light attacks that do ok damage but nothing crazy, but most importantly a small hitbox with insanely good mobility. Very high skill ceiling weapon. Then they flipped it on its head made heavy attacks shoot almost as fast as light attacks and nerfed their damage a tad and then took out all the recovery animations and buffed the hitbox. Basically just made it a better version of the firestaff instead of letting the bow have niche (high mobilit skirmsher with sniper capabilites).

The jump shot doesn’t exist anymore so they obviously figured out a way to fix the jump shot without gutting the recovery animations. If they could keep the current recovery animations but revert back to the old hitbox/fire rate/damage profile that would be the best bow.

7.6k is not posible on 35% thrust. 4.5-4.8k is definitely feasible though.

and it can now shoot faster, plus its more like a 10% perk since people actually use that passive now that makes heavies fly faster + 10% dmg(also not empower)

7.6, and they do when they have some amount of mortal empowerment + several damge increasing passive proc’d, potentially going well over the 50% empowerment cap.

did you miss this^ or just selectively tag stuff to make invalid points?
Also Heavies always went faster, the damage was reduced from 30% damage to 10%.

Idk where you get those numbers from, BOWS do not hit for 7.6k unless someone is not running gems and even then you need ME stacks and a dodge into heavy headshot over 20m away to hit that much on first hit on a decent build.

a fully charged bow heavy does 150% dmg.

i got it from me being domed like a few nights ago by a bow with an unknown number of ME stacks lol.

im just telling you what happened to me. the passives of bow not contributing to the cap combined with ME make it possible.

ye ye ye
“IT GOT ME FOR THIS MUCH DAMAGE, SO SOMETHING WRONG WITH WEAPON AND NOT MY SETUP”
If i had a penny for everytime i’ve heard this line.

I can tell you exactly what my setup was,
light(leaning phys defense), 5x resil, 35% thrust resist, 160con(didnt have food active), 2x ele aversion.

You have video? I run 50 con 30% thrust and have never been hit that hard

I did but I unfortunately deleted it for space. it was like 4 or 5 days old.
Like i said, I suspect he had a high amount of ME and was probably around 150con, maybe 100 but i doubt.

its not even just ME that’s the problem there either. its a combination of being able to be at or near empowercap and then go beyond that with several passives.

Well it’s not going beyond it. It’s just the passives boost base damage right so it’s additive damage and then multiples in end by empower which is multiplicative
