Well took me 40+ hours of laz runs to get a 593 laz bow… so yeah a couple of dungeon runs and an hour of grinding is quite a bit off.
For decent legendary gear? Depends on what you focus your time doing. But we aren’t talking decent here. We are talking about the best you could ever possibly get from a drop, or craft, or RNG chest, or Trading post, and that is the problem. The issue isn’t giving people decent gear - if people have a couple hundred hours in the game they will get decent gear. The issue is giving EVERYONE THE best gear they could possibly have if they meet the requirement of getting 590 expertise.
I expect this is a binary solution to Amazon - do or don’t let named items be upgraded. There are way too many factors at play to just go “yeah that’s fair for getting a guranteed legendary BIS” - either way, you screw crafters, who already feel like they have they shaft. I think they just need to say no on the named items being upgraded to 3 perk from two, and make it so they can be upgraded, they just don’t get 3rd perk. If your contention is that people really only want decent gear, than 625 gear with 2 decent perks should be plenty, right?
That’s cause it is, and because you know everyone else who puts in 10 runs is gonna have it too. I guess that’s kinda the issue. Hard to feel good about your character when you know that every one else gets it too if they just afk left click spam in a dungeon 10 times.
Same here. I think around 1 out 3 runs one of the dds will get the staff.
And I will get all the named dd items.
At this point I think AGS has a algorithm for this.
That’s not entirely true. I ran around 30 Lazarus and only yesterday I’ve got my first will of the ancients that is 583 and I can’t upgrade it. Been 590 on LS for ages. Still haven’t seen Lazarus bow either and few items from genesis too. Too much complaining that someone else will get your item
When you get to level 60 and weapon mastery 20 for a given weapon, you get this very long quest line that ends with you getting a 580 gs weapon (or shield). They’re nice, but anyone can buy better stuff from the trading post, and as a result few people do these quest lines and even if you do them you don’t end up using the cute, named, gear.
How about… exceptionally for sub-590 gear, allow these items to be upgraded with shards to leg 600 gs? It is still a long journey but might give everyone something new to do for a while and a clear path to owning a 600 gs item. They still wouldn’t be BiS but they’d be good.
For what? You would waste so many umbral shards for a bad item. These questitems are fine with low watermark.
I like the idea with upgrading the named 590 to legy+perk. Yes it feels bad for people who are running dozens of dungeons to get one lucky proc to 600, but it´s several months after release, there is a need to make things a little “quality of life” easier. The people have still to grind their watermark to 590 (okay it´s faster than before, but this is also okay).
We need populated servers and this is a good solution to hold also casual players. Plus it helps “hardcore” players to get some other legys also easier, too.
What are you talking about?!
600 GS Expertise is the absolut cap. Even with next Patch
The point I dont understand that is brought up so many times already, is why do you think, that it should be GRANTED to anyone, to get a drop from those dungeons, a drop they want. I do like that it is rng, that adds excitement to the game, something to look forward to. You come in lazarus to farm lazarus bow 100 times because you want the best bow in the game. OR you ask a crafter to craft you one that will be close with those perks, done. Noone is forcing you to run the dungeon, you do that because you know that the drop you can get in there is the best bow you can have. If you dont like the RNG dont do dungeons. If you do, and get a lege drop, good for you, you got lucky. And this luck and excitement from drops goes out of the window, as goes crafting of BIS or close to BIS items, because only relevant crafting that stays is the absolute BIS items, better than those from dungeons now, other good rolls, that could have been sold otherwise, are going to be trash worth of pennies, since people will rather run laza 10 times, get their 590+ bow and up that, than ask a crafter to craft them 30 bows of which 5 will be lege and 1 decently rolled, there is simply no way. Same for jewels.
And now for whatever reason, everyone will have access to BIS items in matter of days/weeks. There is nothing better than, for me, it completely removes any excitement from getting new items, I always liked that you can get something others do not have, something that is rare, special.
Waste of my time here anyway since this crappy change will go live without any communication from mods again. They will rather reply to a post about nerfing a GA and WH to the ground again, because some noob can learn how to pvp against simply the weakest class in the NW atm and cries on the forums about it, than to some in my eyes more serious topic, that is changing the end game. @Luxendra @Kay @Shadow_Fox
It doesn´t remove the excitement. You still have to upgrade it to 625. You still need skill to beat other players in pvp or enemies in higher muta keys, but the casual player has more chances to reach the 24/7 hardcore gamers and can see a goal.
They have still to grind expertise and shards (plus get the drop 590+).
GA/WH is fine, weapon like VB is overtuned or bugged like IG and some combinations are too/really strong defense-wise.
Crafting will still be the way for the most best items.
One can argue that this completely kills engineering and perhaps, other crafts.
I have a spear that has keen, vicious, keenly enchanted and a musket that is vicious, keenly and enchanted. Let’s say, I wanna make a better weapon, how many tries would it take realistically to get keen, vicious, x-perk of my choice? Probably, 100 tries at least, and 0 of them would sell, because EVERYONE would have the javelin, everyone who’s looking for upgrades anyway. That’s hundreds of thousand coins down the drain and no one would do that.
Yeah this argument was brought up before also. It for sure will kill weaponsmithing, engineering, jewelcrafting to a certain point, and arcana crafting, since only absolute best of the best items will have somewhat of a value, the rest will be just substituted for what you will be able to get in dungeons in a matter of days. That is just absolute joke. Especially since how change like this was not communicated at all before it was decided it will go live.
I’m not saying you’re wrong but do casual players even have the opportunity to run the endgame dungeons so often?
If they only have 2 hours to play how can they make or craft a key let alone afford a spot more than maybe once or twice a week?
There will be a small uptick in hardcore players getting more legendaries to 600 but it will then be back to the casual crowd trying to catch up and definitely wanting crafted stuff to shortcut the grind.
This is being overblown imo.
Just forward thinking is all. This bump puts us to 590-600 drops (instead of 580-600) so right out the gate you have a 50% better chance at a legendary drop. Now if they also boosted the drop rates naturally, this whole argument about using Umbral may not matter anyway
The players who are so against this upgrading named purple items to legendary, why not go at it another way and ask for the Keen/Vicious/Enchanted combo to be craft-able on weapons, and make crafting easier, maybe pay Umbra Shard to exclude up to 5 perks from rolling on crafted stuff.
It’s still a lot of work to get 600 Expertise in a slot I also think that’s why the game barely gets any new players because everything such a massive grind, super rng depended on luck, and loads of time gates so far the game has gotten
Crafting leveling has become harder, and more expensive
Faction tokens rate has been decreased, takes much longer to gain
Reduced gold from several dalies
Lowered drop of legendary items, made OPR chest rewards worse
Lowered Corrupted crystals from portal chests
Weapon Mastery gains have been nerfed while leveling
Lowered drops from open world bosses
The market in general has stagnated to almost nothing. Raw resources are still selling but beyond that even the trophy market is pretty much done. Crafters throwing 8-13k per roll (Jewelry is especially expensive) and if it isn’t close to BiS legendary it’s likely salvage.
At this stage we go a few days, buy up whatever 24HR cooldowns we can and roll the dice. This is coming from someone who isn’t rich with Tax money, so I assume it’s even easier for them.
The Umbral system will make a bad situation worse, but it’s hardly the fault of being able to save some players time farming Gen/Laz. They are doing that anyway, since that’s the only content available to do. Ranged still only buy “good enough” Muskets or Bows while they farm for Ancient Intentions, Infamy or Laz Bow. Healers only buy “good enough” Life Staffs while they wait for Higher Purpose or Will of the Ancients. (etc, etc for other good drops as well).
All this changes is those who are running endless runs finally get a break from the misery.
Upgrading a 590 to 600 will still be easier and quicker than farming for an outright 600 Legendary
Yep and who cares? ^^ New itemlevel is still 625.
If you don’t like RNG don’t play dungeons, if you want even more RNG do crafting
The layer upon layer of RNG is what is killing this game, players I included are just sick of running the same dungeon over and over for a 600 GS named weapon we want. Crafting is even worse, you can keep piling hundreds of thousand gold into a bottomless RNG hole. To craft a single BIS require like 1 000 asmodeum so lovely.
This won’t make it to live, as it would touch the ego of so many people that play 10h a day 7 days a week, or abuse war mechanics. It’s such a good idea that crafted items below 600 GS would be possible to update to 600 GS with 3rd perk randomly rolled and have the ability to reroll perks or select a way the smaller pool of perks from where your perks will be rolled. It would make good items available to casuals which would be good for the game as wars, open-world PVP etc, won’t be so once sided as now.
