V Rising is still in early access as far as I’m aware, not sure how long it has been in development for, nevertheless it is great.
The game feels smooth to play with various QoL features and most notably, it obviously took a lot of inspiration from other games without feeling too much like them. I really want the fact that New World can be different from everything else WHILE taking ideas/systems from existing games.
Again, I have no insight on how V Rising came into creation (funding, timespan, workforce), however, I feel that as far as balance and stability goes it seems to be leaps and bounds above where NW is today. Granted, my time in VR is limited but the difference in polish is gleaming; make it easier on yourselves and look around. I have no history with MMO’s but I’ve heard/seen over time that NW launched with flaws which were resolved 20 years ago and some of these issues remain (no specifics of the top of my head but I’m sure you could think of a few).
I’m both excited and frightened for todays patch release and hope both that I can continue enjoying the game but also that it crumbles so I can experience games with more polish, now that I am in the sphere, because it seems like I didn’t know what I was missing.
I’m thankful that NW is a pay to play game because while I don’t plan on quitting, it means that if I do go AWOL (stop warlogging), I can check in and see what’s going on.
ive been playing new world nearly exlusively since release and kept hoping the lag, desync, bugs and incredibly poorly designed systems would be fixed, but its not really happening.
The 3v3 arena update is very good PvP content, but all the past problems are still there.
Ive been playing some V Rising too latley and it completley killed any will I have to get back into new world seeing how such a “small” game can be so muuuuuch better than New World.
Glad i’m not the only one, while not surprised. I will absolutely be playing 3v3 until I reach my daily limit and check my bank account to see if I can afford more lives (seems more like a lost ark thing), for the whole 2 weeks it takes for me to complete the track and then I’ll have a few jabs at taking EF but other than that it seems like it’s GG.
What would you look to implement into NW from V Rising if you could pick 3?
I will have to try the 3v3 out as I really love PvP in New world, but I dont think it will hold me for long.
Im not sure what NW could take from V Rising. What I really hate in New World is how tedious crafting and gearing is. Crafting requires so much diffrerent shit, be it crafting gear, crafting skill, mats, townbuff etc. And gearing is basicly pay2win as those with lots of gold are getting all the good gear. Meanwhile I cant even afford any gear to try out offspec as I have to scrap by to just get my consumables for wars.
In V Rising both crafting and gearing is so simple. I wouldnt exactly copy it into New world. But I belive crafting needs to be much more simplified and gearing needs to be much easier and accesible if the game is gonna be competetive in PvP.
I got hooked on v rising for about 3 days. It’s pretty fun but the map and world is nothing even remotely as good as new world. It will never hold my attention for 2500+ hours like new world has.
Not even close to being the same genre, v rising is a vampiric version of valheim - which has half the active playerbase of new world, because as a rule of thumb, survival games have far less content, thus become a repetitive grind after about 10 hours.
I wish crafting an item were more difficult, but with better results. It’s just another RNG mobile slot machine game at this point, no different than chain running the same mundane dungeon over and over. Not a good system.
V Rising is a fresh fun game, but New World’s audios and visuals are just top tier. I just wish New World’s game play matched that.
V Rising is an entirely different genre. It’s not an MMO and the graphics look like top notch DirectX 9.
It’s simplistic art style and basic control system for a top down dungeon crawler style game with a splash of Valheim make it a nice little time kill but it’s nothing serious.
I’m both excited and frightened for todays patch release and hope both that I can continue enjoying the game but also that it crumbles so I can experience games with more polish, now that I am in the sphere, because it seems like I didn’t know what I was missing.
It sounds like New World is holding you captive. Like an alcoholic reasoning with his illness. Break the chains! Play other games. You deserve better.
