(video) Bug since day 1 of PTR now in live for 18 days+

The Beacon, Orb of Protection, and Grav Well bug were in the PTR day 1 of the Medleyfaire/music/Barnacles update. It was reported by multiple people that I know of at least, and yet here we are 1 week into the patch on live, and not only did it make it out of PTR into the live game, it’s still here after the first weekly patch?

These skills do not work on structures. They only work on natural ground. This is a HUGE problem because almost all expeditions and bosses are on structures.

What is the PTR even for if pretty major bugs we report still come to the live game?

Starting to wonder what purpose the PTR even serves when the reports we all make are just ignored completely… How these bugs make it into the live environment beggars belief.

There were bugs reported in the Winter festival, and Tempest Heart PTRs that somehow got ignored and came to the live game too. -shrugs-

There have been so many posts about this, and it’s been in the game for a month (in the summer PTR where it was already reported yet still made it into the game).
Can we -please- get a dev’s confirmation or something that this is going to be fixed?! It truly cripples all expeditions for healers, great axe users, and fire staff users. Nearly all expeditions are on these structures that cause these skills to simply not work.

Hello! I can confirm that we have been working on the fix and it’s currently in testing. Catching it in PTR is very helpful for us because it means we’re working on correcting the issue as soon as possible, but sometimes it’ll still take time from when it’s reported to when it’s fixed, tested, and implemented into the game!

if so, why its shipped like that? how are these bugs categorized? is this a minor or major bug? when does the deployment signs ready if these bugs are still persistent?
Or is it like “it compiles and executes, lets ship it”.

Even from a management perspective i cant understand the procedure to deliver it like that even tho the community is for free helping.

They don’t take feedback seriously. Take the throwing hatchet. It was good with the first PTR version numbers. Skills hit hard, and you could supplement it with lots of throwing. Then some permastun bug occurred when they decided to modify the working Mending Infected Throw perk (which wasn’t necessary). In the final PTR update, they disabled the Exhausting Infected Throw perk that caused the bug and nerfed the crap out of Hatchet–not just the throwing skills, but the melee empowers too. Worse yet, they didn’t tell us until people noticed and started complaining, then they edited it into their patch notes.

I refuse to test and provide feedback for them ever again until they make this right.

This is unacceptable and doesn’t address the actual honest, fair and legitimate feedback given.

If the issue was reported on Day 1, then this update should not have been made without fixing this before pushing the update to live. Period. Who ever made that call, their not doing your company or product any favor.

This is why so few of us original launch and beta players still play this game - you guys repeatedly promise the sky and miss the mark almost every time.

Under promise and over deliver. Rule #1 of customer service.

This should of been fixed before this update when through to live servers. It is nearly game breaking.

So then… when “The Team” decides to go Live with a PTR patch, you are making a conscious decision to deliver broken features??

Ya but it was fixed in the last patch… I mean no it wasn’t really fixed! However the patch notes would make you think otherwise. o_O?

It’s marginally better in the open world. It’s still utterly and completely broken in most expeditions.

Please learn a lesson from this and use the PTR as it is intended and DO NOT RELEASE anything into production servers until the bugs reported to you are fixed. Playing the game has been absolutely ridiculous and frustrating with these bugs in it and if you just ignore the ptr bug reports what point is there for us to take time out from gameplay to use and report for you?

Do you work on musket zoom bugs, since you guys claimed its been fixed but its obviously not?

@ReddieEX I’m not a coder but I suspect the procedure would be something like this:

  1. Identify the bug (ptr reports help)
  2. Diagnose which code scripts could be causing said bug
  3. Test the scripts that could cause this bug (there are lots of scripts that could cause bugs, many different scripts need to be tested and then, the interactions between scripts also needs to be tested. ) this would take a long time.
  4. When the problem script is identified , a replacement script needs to be created. This replacement script will also interact with other scripts in multiple ways, and it will take time to get this right.
  5. Test the new replacement script to make sure it works as intended.

At no point in this process is there a maximum time that this could take. It’s unreasonable to expect anyone to do all of that in a matter of days or, given how many bugs there are to do this for, weeks.

Just be patient friends

Did they promise that the update will come out with no bugs or something? Lmfao

Ok so you would want them to delay the update by 2 weeks or more?:clown_face::joy:

Versus what it is now? 2 weeks of broken skills that make using life staff dreadful? Yea, I’d rather them release updates without bugs that were reported 6 weeks ago (the ptr released June 22?). The PTR is literally a test realm to squash bugs that are reported by players before they move the update to live. It’s the whole reason it exists.

It’s also interesting because days ago they asked for a video of this bug happening like they weren’t familiar with it. After videos were posted by multiple people they never responded again. Finally, we got an official response on this bug that greatly affects at least 3 weapons and 4 skills that I know of. Some bugs are bigger than others, this one definitely should have had some kind of priority. It renders multiple skills completely useless in expeditions and other places.

If you think the answer is releasing a live version of the game with major PTR bugs reported 6 weeks ago that broke previously working things in it then ":clown_face::joy: " right back at ya.

:clown_face::clown_face: u srsly think they will fix every single bug reported on the ptr? When they have 1 month to release the update or people will get big mad? But yea dude it would be an amazing idea to delay a SUMMER update and release it in the middle of august :joy::joy::joy::joy::clown_face::clown_face::clown_face::clown_face:

Its not about the time to fix, im aware how long these could take and therefor its ok to take this time.
but i also know that there is a prio to what have to be done until milestone reach and if this is not going to work it has to be reviewed and pushed to the next sprint/review. but thats the point - the priorization and also if it is getting shipped public / to the costumer or not.

i mean if theyve said “hey its not ready how we wanted to push it out, you know we got also vacation time we need another sprint/review” the community will be at first a bit mad about it but in the long run they can show us they can handle it.

just let there be some transparency to your customer. i can see also that there is maybe some income shortage of getting new skins out but then the price model has to be reviewed.

i also dont wanna say that theyre incompentent of handling things because if you look back at what theyve already reached so far they have a hell of a ride in dev and they doing amazing but it is neccessary to release a stable version.
if we have to wait for it so be it, everybody is currently not happy how modern games are developed in case of bugs or unfinished things.
amazon can try to do better.

I don’t think people have any grasp of how the industry is working and sadly some of them will never understand, no matter how many times you explain., it is called the Dunning-Kruger effect.
