Yep, since the latest New World patch, I am no longer able to play the game. I have Kaspersky which now deletes the main game exe even after steam verifies the game files and re-creates it. Kaspersky again deletes it.

What antivirus are you using other than Kaspersky if you can’t log in.
yeah, I’m using kaspersky, I turned it off and entered the game but now it’s another error: Unexpected steam_appid.txt file found.
You don’t have to turn off your antivirus to play a game, it’s up to them to find the solution and make their game work like before this patch.

I know, I was doing a test, but it was for nothing, another error appeared. T-T
I’ve tried giving the launcher startup permissions in apps and well it removes it straight away.
Go into game files turn of run as admin and then delete the file called steam_appid.txt then the game will run i still have not found a way to run the game with my anti virus turned on guessing that’s on the devs

The problem seems to be with Kaspersky, not new world,

Why in 1 year and a half Kaspersky has never detected anything and there coincidentally after this update it detects a trojan I have my doubts. It’s not up to us to fix that, it’s up to AGS to do the right thing.

Have any other antiviruses detected this? If not then it is almost definitely a problem with Kaspersky rather than the New World executable.

It is the fault of KAspersky, the identify the newworld.exe as spyware/virus because of its behaviour, maybe AGS changed something but defninetly did not inlude any malware.
Kaspersky and all other Antivirus software do check everything with signatures ans behaviour anlyses.
Somehow the new newworld.exe is flagged by Kaspersky, that is not a fault of AGS, that a false positive misstake by Kaspersky.
I’m not having this issue and I’m using Bitdefender. The problem I’m having is that my armor seems broken. Feels like I’m naked. New update probably broke more than a few things.

Kaspersky has confirmed that it is a false positive, i.e. a false alarm, and it will be corrected.

Seems to me like a good reason NOT to use Kaspersky for antivirus.
why would anyone who is using Windows not use Windows Defender? Coming from a Cybersecurity background, you don’t need anything other than WD and keep it up to date.
