I was in an invasion last night for the first time in patch 1.1 and noticed that the Void Destroyer HP pool had been increased massively.
I’m not sure if this was one of the unintentional changes like with the darkness membranes or an intentional change like to Myrkgard elites, but it functionally makes the skull unkillable.
AGS has already agreed that invasion difficulty is too high by scaling back spriggan damage slightly.
The thing is that for example the first Void Destroyer that spawned still seemed to have the original HP values. That is, when everyone ranged and in a repeater focused the skull it died in a relatively quickly amount of time (under a minute).
The second Void Destroyer however did not seem to have a dent made in its HP bar even when we were all focusing it together.
I believe this is because the Void Destroyer HP has been increased to 22 million. I don’t have the original values but I am quite certain that it has been potentially increased by up to 5 or 10 times compared to the other/original void destroyers.
As the only things that are able to damage void destroyers are bows and repeater cannons which can only deal chunks of effectively damage in the tens of thousands per minute, an entity which has 22 million HP is simply too tanky for the defenders to kill. We couldn’t even kill this one that spawned (it being the second void destroyer that spawned before we lost the invasion), based on the amount of damage we were doing to it it was unlikely we would have even been able to destroy it in the remaining 6 minutes of the invasion.
This is especially so since each invasion spawns 4 void destroyers and if the other remaining 2 also had 22 million HP it is simply impossible for the amount of DPS that defends can put to to destroy them. Since these skulls have auto seeking lasers which kill defenders very quickly if we are not able to destroy their eyes it deletes defenders from the defence, and since the final few minutes are when it is most important to be able to put out the highest DPS possible having defenders killed by Void Destroyers makes it impossible to win an invasion.
These things need their HP cut to at least 10-20%, a value of 2-4 million HP would still make them very tanky and require a dedicated response by all ranged defenders possible while actually making it possible to destroy them at the same time as people are trying to fight off 2 bosses at each gate.
