Void Gaunt underperforming in melee

Its a ~5k damage burst, and pretty easy to reap people into it. Its the main way to kill healers. Use grave to pull them outside the circle then stun lock and the damage kills. Outside of zergs, GW is pretty bad group diving now days because you are going to get riposte spammed.

GA is awful and you are rooted during it. Learn to deal with it or use heavy attacks which has better tracking than GA.

I wrote 1v1 xd

I did mean 1v1. I win 80% of my 1v1s with it. You have to use other abilities so they don’t walk out of it.

I’m confused because I couldn’t tell if you’re memeing or not. Great Axe LMB hits significantly harder than Void Blade and it cleaves which doesn’t require the same amount effort.

Void Gaunt is the actual lowest of all of the melee weapons.

Wow, without abilities and synergies that void blade has with things like IG and LS that none of the other melee weapons have, it is the second lowest dps. I guess having those circle abilities on ranged weapons giving rend and fortify isn’t good enough. You should also be able to out dps pure melee weapons in melee and out life steal it too.

Void blade is aids to play against. you should be asking for scream buffs not making the game worse over all.

I talked about this a while ago and i mentioned that the damage on some weapons were to high. I mentioned that voidblade at the time was an issue, but largely because of the self sustain (1vX) potential.

the suggestion i made was to drop a lot of the initial damage and shift it into the damage over time effects. For example, dropping blade initial damage by 50% weapon damage, and shifting it into the damage over time effect.

This would reduce the burst and sustain, while maintaining damage output rates.

It’s designed to be a support weapon, not a DPS weapon. it fits in it’s place quite well

Looks like : Support right tree, dps left tree.

I don’t think entirely that’s what OP is talking about, the hit registration is just bad.

Go test it yourself, where other weapons consistently hit, void blade is bugged in that it’s like swinging at air sometimes and feels very very bad versus a moving target.

Also it’s a hybrid weapon, with the right life stealing build, and setup GA/WH or GA/hatchet can beat VG.

VG doesn’t even have grit so you will lose the trade hard versus spear, and other weapons.

If you are also silly enough to fight in the oblivion that’s your fault.

Mages are meant to keep bruisers in check and for wars void blade is actually a trash ability.

It’s really only good for arenas because in wars it loses every time to every other melee cleave group and only functions as a debuffer/buffer/ risking your life for a scream and spamming orb of decay in unison with other mages to burst.

Then even in arenas, the hit registration is so bad versus people even slightly running away, mean while sword and shield/spear/great axe all these other weapons can stick to a target like glue.

I think the subtle issue is that tracking seems fine, but hit-boxes or hit-registration is not. You’ll slide a meter forward when you swing like other melee weapons. But you’ll often have the whole blade go through someone and no hit count. This isn’t just related to tracking, as I’ve been point blank on top of people and had it happened.

While 15% of your swings just phasing through enemies adds to the feeling it’s a magic ethereal blade, not solid like other weapons, they should fix it.

VG got nerfed pretty hard, but maybe if the hit-reg was fine the weapon would be okay.

Are you pretending other melee weapons don’t have synergy? Spear can work with any strength/dex weapon and with one ability apply double the rend that the void gauntlet can apply.

Let’s be real, voracious blade is the only reason the void blade isn’t meme status. Besides for lifesteal, it’s outclassed from other melee weapons in terms of damage, CC, flexibility, etc.

Its a ranged weapon, with a melee ability. I am pretty sure spear does not have more rend than IG/VG and its not aoe.

This is with all melee weapons. 10% of the time, my warhammer skills do zero damage even with numbers showing on my screen and cc still applying. Same with GA autos and skills.

Spear can apply 30% rend with just perforate. So it actually CAN apply more rend then even VG+IG combined. VG can only apply 10% in an AOE with orb, or 15% to single targets with blade. Even combining those abilities it’s still 15% max, or 25% max with IG’s 10% rend.

The fact that you need to compare a single weapon against VG + something else seems to imply you don’t even think it’s worth considering as a useful weapon on its own.

Also, it’s a “ranged weapon” whose melee ability can easily have 100% uptime, and the ranged attacks are pathetic. Much worse than fire/ice which are themselves worse than musket/bow. The only options with VG are to use blade, or to use abilities and swap off without attacking at all.

Right now, the ability to do ranged damage hurts more than helps. Light poke at range does not make up for how it handicaps you from swapping to your other weapon. If they changed blade to a permanent toggle, that would be a nice QOL buff without increasing raw power to W+M1. Honestly, that would be a great change.

i dont know how you can talk about VG, and not the IG here is why i defintly also think the IG need change

Mages is in need of the Icegauntlet to have a rework of buffing or changing, since almost all of the IG perks in the skill tree is useless for PvP. The abilities also need a very small buff and change of side perks. only ability there isnt in need of a change is prob the iceshower. the icestorm is horrendus and more now because of the ultimate chill not working for other players than yourself. the Entomb is nice, but please it needs a little bit more health or something like that, since its getting destroyed in 0.20 sec in wars. IG doesnt really have any good perks that you can put on it other than unending thawn or deadly showers unless your light armor. its underperforming in wars as a med player and a support mage. you have to take so many bad side perks on the skill tree, just to get ultimate chill so the icestorm doesnt lose 60+ damage every tick.

idk IG in wars is a support weapon, iced refresh if u can get a killing blow with ice spike is good, shower and storm is good too.

Entomb is ok but tbh the utility from both storm and shower outclass it for wars.

Unending thaw is crazy good too, but yes ice shower frigid showers perk is very underwhelming.

Anywho, I think mage is cleanup, and should be spiking after melee engages etc.

But still VG has it’s issues regardless of ice, in arenas ice is very strong. also the heal on entomb needs to be instant, not a tick after you break out of entomb.

Idk, going to call :mortar_board: cap on this.

Spear abilities hit consistently and I’m getting rekt.

Same for reap maelstrom. and sword and board/hatchet has no real problem/ leaping strike etc.

Have you actually tried using VG blade or are you commenting as someone on the receiving end?

Because I guarantee if you go try it out on running opponents you will see the only viable thing to do with it is spam heavy attack hoping to get the homing to kick in, scream and then spam light attack.

Where as rapier, which I used consistently works fine, and tracks/registers fine.

be carefull @Gull is a master of Words.

Reap is kinda wonky sometimes people get hit, pulled and rubberband right away. sns auto is fine and leaping got nerfed but still is good.

they are usually right in my face when we fight since im a melee player and hit pretty good. I couldt say that VG is bad at all but tbf i dont play it myself

You’re definitely a 2hander Unga Bunga bro.

The problem with Void Being explained in this thread a million times doesn’t seem to register with you at all.

Homing is not here as a reminder of old tabbed targeting.

Homing is to hide desyncs, that were very obscenely evident 6 months ago on melee hits.

Some weapons are way behind the new curve, like hatchet, VB and BB autos (tho they are another issue as they have no homing at all).

I play predominantly as a pvpve healer which is to say that I enjoy playing the game as a pve gamer but almost always pvp flagged. So I use the void gauntlet a lot and I can only say that my experiences has been that the only time I have missed is using the void gauntlets ranged light attack that just fires so slow and the walking animation makes me consider just biting the bullet and do the most long term end game petty moves ever and go to programming school just to meet some like minded people, work on the project to near and quite possibly beyond bankruptcy just to make a video game with just enough legally distinct details that amazon couldnt sue just so i would have the were with all to make changes to the game that substantiate themselves towards the fun of the game rather than follow the “dont scare away the casuals with in depth combo systems and detailed mechanics that take time to master.”
I digress. This whole there isnt any homeing for some weapons idea is something i find hard to believe. Comparing old recordings to new ones i can see some very clear changes that have been made to reduce the overal skill requirement of all of theweapons in the game. Surprisingly i dont see much that has been buffed or nerfed on the musket of all things at least on an animation observation. But all others, yeah there has been some distinct changes.
