It is totally fine to be killed by void gauntlet ^^
I think it is not fine that a whole group or more ppl die in 1 or 2 seconds after the void gauntlet user jumpes in. I am not saying, that the vg user kills all these ppl alone, but the stacked aoe dmg is way to high or the provided healing is way too low unless you like fighths that only last seconds…
Most of the time i live because i dont stand in the aoe, but my group and the rest of the opr team dies and i cant do anything to counter it…
VGs are not AoE bursting down any points with their kit.
It sounds like you’re consistently running into a good void blade user who is constantly pulling you into 1v1 and small scale fights, where this weapon shines.
That void blade is not about to run into 20 people and do any meaningful melee damage. Oblivion for example is used mostly for the empower and the debuff, not the damage.
The orbs OK.
Screams decent but on a long enough CD you can’t spam it.
I think VG is actually in a pretty good spot right now, and I’m a full believer in buffing other weapons up to other power levels instead of nerfing things to compensate for something else that’s bad.
We posted at the same time so maybe you havent seen my other post…
It is exactly the aoe empowering I am talking about, also in my experience there is not too much need of a second scream (with perk) because everyone is dead at that moment…
Maybe the “problem” is more present because I am playing on a very small server and we are always the same ppl that play opr. Just for your info, it is my company that dominates these oprs because of the vg, we dominated before but with vg the fights are over after seconds. I am not “whining” because i am loosing all the time For me it is just no fun in fighting for seconds weather i am on the winning or receiving side… The ttk is too low in my opinion
Vg has no mobility and one root. It’s easy to counter by getting out their oblivion which is the indicator they are about to do burst damage with void blade, or block if you get rooted for 2 secs.
No, I feel VG is in a very good place currently. I wish its primary stat was Focus and secondary stat was Intellect but that is the only change I feel it needs.
Honestly, my experience (ever increasing) of PVP in the game can be summed up in one sentence:
Wearing anything but heavy is generally a waste of time.
And then all TTK values become moot. I’ve tried running a medium build DPS and it’s fine for PVE but woefully underperforms in PVP. I have to be supported by a healer or I’m dead in any form of PVP outside of 1v1 (where I can generally keep heavy builds in an eternal, endless potion fight by evasion and my own 6 CC skills countering their 6 CC skills).
My opting to run medium has no discernable impact on my damage, not enough to counter the use of heavy. It’s even worse for light.
So honestly, who cares about the VG damage? Just need to wear heavy and we’re all good to go for the usual meta of very long fights unless one side is imbalanced by either situation (ranged versus melee in the open/vice versa) or numbers/group makeup (ie one has no healer).
VG is supposed to support a group to increase DPS. Thats the whole point of Oblivion with its debuff + empower combo. If you get caught in that aoe with people wailing on you you are going to die fast. Working as intended.
As a VG user the only time I can do a lot of damage is when you let me get close and don’t get out of my oblivion. By comparison, rapier has way more burst potential.
I wonder if the people replying under these posts actually engage in PVP in the game or they camp threads like this, ready to comment their questionable opinions on everything.
If you do engage in any sort of pvp you KNOW that is almost impossible to win a 1v1 fight against a lifestaff+voidgauntlet user, especially if they wear heavy armor.
Nullifying oblivion is strong enough, paired with the ability to heal yourself with Voracious Blade perk plus the life staff while wearing Heavy Armors make the weapon completely unbalanced in any 1v1.
If you actually queue for outpost rush it won’t take long to see one healer with VG stalling a fight and surviving against 5+ players.
It is not a surprise a new perk will be added to the game in the upcoming update. Specifically designed to diminish healing, lots of players are using a build that cannot be currently countered unless you have another VG player on your team.
isn’t the point of aoe supposed to be to make people disperse? void gauntlet doesnt have great chase mechanics, so basically move out the way and let you fanged users murder them.
ttk, is a different issue, but I didnt feel like it was a lot stronger than other dps, but I didnt investigate it
Most replys didnt read the thread I think… it is not one person with vg that kills everyone… it is 1 person that empowers his team so everything is dead in seconds…
Thats the whole point of this thread… again I am not talking about small scale pvp or 1v1´s
The game should be balanced around large scale pvp aka opr and wars… at least in my opinion.
@PhysOmega in group pvp the vg user does not need this, he has other ppl to stun, catch and close gaps etc. in my experience the ttk went to nuts since ppl learnd how to play and skill an effective vg build.
i think the main issues with this game is that AOE does not have a cap on the ammount of players affected by it. What i mean with this? In games like Guild Wars 2 when you use an AOE skill, a CC that is AOE or even a heal, it affects a certain number of players (Most of them are 5 man cap).
That way you prevent having 1 big gigantus AOE in one place doing damage to 30+ people. It’s insane. Imagine 50 man trying to defend the last point in a war and 1 dude just using grav well in the middle of them, it shoulnt affect 50 players, it’s insane.
I completely agree with you. I do also believe there should be a limit on the amount of people affected by AOE’s effects, whether it be debuffs or stuns/slows.
Being a player that constantly does OPR’s the amount of time 1 or 2 Warhammer players can stall a fight is astonishing. You only need a lucky Shockwave and 10 people around you are stunned.
Do they have Sundering Shockwave? cool, then 10 people will run around with rend and that’s gg.
Does the enemy team outnumber yours with the amount of Warhammer players? oh well, you better believe it’s gonna be a path of destiny fiesta from all sides.
The same applies in war, everyone uses Warhammer there for these reasons and it’s completely unbalanced.
