VG has a number of abilities that read like this
Heals for XY% weapon dmg. Scales exclusively with Focus.
e.g.
Overflowing Essence – Heals allies within four meters of the target for 80 percent weapon damage when Essence Rupture ends. Scales with Focus.
VG is INT/FOC weapon. The VG weapon damage value is based primarily of INT (0.9) and secondarily of FOC (0.6x), right so far?
When it says “80% of weapon damage” and “Scales with Focus” i see 2 conflicting statements.
How does this really scale when weapon damage actually scales off of INT primarily? If INT is really a NO Factor here, then it is 80% of what exactly?
Thanks
Void gauntlet should be focus/int not int/focus. Int did NOT need another weapon with it as the main stat. Now int has three weapons that mainly scale from it while focus still only has one. The choice in weapons as a focus player is way too low. The stat decision with void gauntlet is puzzling and very frustrating. Does AGS want no healers? Because that’s what’s going to happen if focus keeps being treated as an afterthought while all the other stats have a huge choice in weapons.
The whole point of why there is no other weapon scaling from focus is because you don’t want a weapon for healers to use where they deal as much damage as a dps class… If it was focus scaling mainly, you would have life staff full focus with pretty decent burst self heals, and void gauntlet with high dps and life leeching. This would make you practically immortal in small scale.
I don’t get why every healer I hear crying about this (and only the ones that are crying about this) talk this way. You as a healer can choose any off weapon for some slightly higher dps than your life staff and utility such as a hammer stun, rapier mobility etc to fill your toolkit and fit your play style. If you get a dps weapon that scales from focus it defeats the entire purpose. Not even sure what they’re going to do if they ever include a second focus scaling weapon. This is going to open up another whole can of worms with healers getting 3 more buttons to press that need to be individually strong to make the weapon stand on its own but not too strong that the added skills make healers have too much healing.
That would only happen if it wasn’t balanced properly. A focus weapon doesn’t have to deal as much damage as a full dps weapon, I think it should be lower. But not so low that players think “why would I even bother using this?”
My healer staff does much more damage than the void gauntlet but still noticeably less than a weapon that scales purely from a dps stat. There is no reason why AGS can’t design a weapon that is somewhere between the damage a healer staff and a pure dps stat weapon does. Void gauntlet as it is now is extremely disappointing to focus users. Why does a weapon designed to heal do much more damage than a weapon that is mostly offensive???
Where did you get that information? VG damage does indeed scale from focus. It’s just that focus gives significantly less damage than int (and that elemental weapons are basically useless if you don’t take the 150 int perk).
It wouldn’t feel so bad if magic/int weapons didn’t have lower base weapon damage than the melee counterparts. I do understand the point though you don’t want a healer doing equal dps to a pure dps ect. But you still do have a fair bit of imbalanced weapons currently.
Yes that is possible, (and yet another tooltip poorly worded.)
I would hope it is like that, recalculating weapon damage like for a pure FOC weapon based off FOC alone, and then take 80% of it.
Wonder if anyone already did the testing on the heal scaling.
It’s not 10%, but it’s definitely a lot less than int.
I’m running 150 int, 150 focus and 150 constitution. Maxed crit chance. I’m doing A LOT of damage, killing 3-4 mobs at a time, have lots of damage resistance (high con + heavy armor) and more than enough healing to stay alive most of the time. Try this build, it’s insanely strong for solo.
With Hatchet/GA 120 Str, 240 foc and 100 cons I can kill 4 <lvl60 Elite Mobs at once? Just takes pretty long. I.e. deathmans cove I can pull like 10+ lvl 25 Wlite and kill them without any problems.
If not elite, I can basically kill/fight 10+ lvl 61 mobs at once.
Just saying that void gauntlet is pretty strong if built right. However, you won’t see a lot of damage unless you go at least 150 int and max your crit chance.
150 int is alot.
And/or 150 foc is not really much.
0-149 a strenth weapon would do more dmg.
150 probably int weapon but then you lack healing power or you have invested almost 0 points in con.
A weapon, that scales 100% from foc would be OP with selfhealing, but right now you are either mediocre heal/dps or full heal and use second weapon only for cc.
Thats why I dont like VG. If it only would scale 50/50.
I don’t know man, my current build is insanely strong, I’m doing more damage than ever, and I’m still able to heal reasonably ok (not as much as a full focus healer in light armor, but more than enough to stand-in for a healer that DC’d in our elite run).
I’m literally doing this right now and I’m surprised how good it is. I’m healing, I’m increasing everyone’s damage, AND dealing a lot of damage myself. (and I can easily facetank multiple 60+ mobs at a time) The game became so much easier for me that now I’m afraid VG is going to get nerfed.
The downsides to this build is it requires your constant attention, managing cooldowns, converting hp into mana and back to hp again, good positioning, etc. But it’s very fun to play.
