so you’re saying this goes back to the Gem issue that they never fixed from the start.
It’s going back to the weapon-based and not class-based or character-tree based design. It was predictable that balance will be a big problem, if you can freely use any weapon for skills even if you dont use them as mainweapons. With this design you will always hurt the main-void player if you nerf a skill f.e. scream on a weapon cause people “abuse” it as off-weapon only for that skill.
IMO you need to make all damage cooldowns way longer and light/heavy attacks weaker. So people are forced to play 2 damage weapons instead of 1 damage weapon and 1 utility weapon they have no scaling for.

Disagree - they should not nerf anything other than roots for desync issues. We have no idea what that would do to survivability because ags has never released a patch without root bugs that shape the meta. The last thing we need is a worldwide 50% cooldown increase as a “test” that makes the entire playerbase quit. And yes, AGS would start at 50% just so they can say they made “big, sweeping enhancements to the combat system!”
Scream feels terrible now, the person moves before I finished recoving from the Scream Animation and I cannot really follow up with anything to my scream. It is also useless now as a disengage tool, because the basic lunge of melee covers that 1 sec distance.
Overall weapon is useless now, except if you use Nullifying Oblivion on your Tank Spec as a secondary weapon or you play primarily for Voidblade. All ranged VG builds are dead, and Tether and Rupture are still joke skills, now Scream joins thier ranks.

AGS hates mages and heavily favors bruisers, so expect a nerf every patch regardless of game balance. It’s ok because grav well was “nerfed” (read: buffed) last patch.

Unpopular opinion here, I believe building a class around a root is a bad design. The VG was built around scream and that’s one of the reasons VG was so powerful. I’d rather see VG get other buffs rather then length added to scream but only AFTER we see what this months balance patch brings. Considering the entire meta shifted from one skill rework in the last balance patch. If other roots get reworked or removed I think VG can still be a viable option.
how many VG tanks are you seeing in Wars / OPR? I’ve seen 0. They get obliterated by the current medium bruiser meta. You can’t life leech when you are chain CCd homie.
Are you playin on a full pve server… I do see some VG Tanks and they perform well
Pluto, the highest pop US-east realm. There’s no Void Blade tanks anywhere in wars. You are better off bringing a hammer/void and just using the void for the debuffs/scream than trying to whip out your blade.

If a change only benefits str players then Amazon is bound to implement it soon. Not sure why they so heavily favour str melee but it’s clear as day that they do.

Honestly, nerfing scream has destroyed the risk/reward of the VG.
Previous, it was a big risk for a mage to run in and scream/oblivion into a clump. With so many gravs / PODs / shockwaves / maelstroms going off, its easy to get caught. But the reward for landing it on a big clump was punishing.
Now, if you run in and scream, you are luck to cast an oblivion without getting stuck in a CC after.
In every MMO, mages are given abilities to keep melee in check. Roots / CCs / snares. Typically these can be cast from a range to help slow melee from closing the gap. In New World, the opposite is given. Melee are given a range root/snare while mages are given snares/roots that have to be cast in melee range. It’s very backwards and it shows and it has allowed melee to go uncontrolled.
Maybe you are 1v3ing against people who stand still and left click not using any stuns. I would love to see you catch light armor range players with your heavy armor void gauntlet in 1v1 let alone 1v3 lol.
There’s a reason no one uses Void Blade, its because it doesn’t hit anyone who isn’t standing still lol.
