Predictable ability combos, all easy to iframe/avoid.

Halcyon, I think, really went into how that change made combat much less skillful. I wonder if this is perhaps a movement back towards that without going the full way? I wasnt around for what combat was like then, so can’t give any personal opinion on it. Curious what it felt like. Maybe a middle ground is the sweet spot?

yes it was halcyon, and that thread still remains relevant today because many ppl view it as that thread about stagger but it’s really a thread about a coherent vision for combat or the lack thereof.

the issue still persists because the devs had an idea for how they wanted combat to be, at the last second had a crisis of conscious based on loose feedback and since then have just been trying different ideas out to meet the middle w the feedback given vs the intent of they want the game to play.

so long as they continue to try to have their cake and eat it too w their combat system these band aids will serve nothing more than minor glossovers of the gaping festering wound that lies underneath.

if they want slow meaningful combat with intent they need stagger

if they don’t want stagger they need to speed up the flow of combat and give more cc to melee.

but this pseudo cc in the form of hit slows and reduced dodge distance and the game controlling your movement speed w no option for user input outside of dodging to modify their position and distance (lack of sprint function) is why they have such a garbage feeling combat system when it comes to the moment to moment interactions of movement, dodging, melee combat and the interplay between all of them.

Sounds like a lot of bad players are getting carried by light load-out.

Personally I like that I can tondo people into that reduced dodge

All this should have been in place before the game came out its only annoying players that have spent lots of time and coin on light gear. me being one i use to play medium healer then the nerfed the crap out of it so i was forced to play light and spent lots of coin on doing that now all that was worthless its pathetic just like ags

Since on live you have 1.75s of slow time. They are reducing it.

Good, if you want to get away you should have to burn skills or actually dodge some hits instead of just mashing dodge to create distance. Melee landing an auto in the first place means you already fucked up.

This is a “trust me bro” video.

Roll for example now does 1m less distance. not being able to run for 1.5 seconds after being melee attacked means that all you need to do is spam melee charge auto and you will perma slow someone (by removing running).

It is a massive nerf to light. Stop trying to push it off like its not.

So you think that melee should stick to a mage who is squishy and does no damage to them and that is some how balance?

I’m swapping from medium melee to light melee this patch. I tried it out in PTR and it didn’t feel bad.

What you are testing does not validate if you will keep that build, nor does it free you of deceptively trying to push the idea that light is somehow better after patch.
