The game does NOT perform hardware changes. It doesn’t change voltages and it doesn’t change the clock rate. It uses standard Direct X calls like any other game. The game shows hardware weaknesses and hardware faults because it’s so demanding. Whether it’s good or bad coding is a subject for debate and doesn’t matter. If it did control voltages and gpu mhz then you can point the finger. But again it doesn’t.
I’ve been an extreme over clocker and i do tech support and i was the guy that created a lot of the voltage modifications for motherboards and GPUs back when you had to do this. Mostly unpublished as i was competing with the rest of the world and against teams of engineers. I’ve found so many hardware issues over the years with all manufacturers i’ve used. Some are very blatant offenses and some are just small enough that you may forgive someone for it. However an engineer should never make a mistake imo. While their job may seem complicated it really isn’t.
My #1 rule for computers is buy the best brand PSU you can and ensure it’s powerful enough. pcpowerandcooling was my favorite before and after i had them build me a custom PSU. Don’t skimp on the size. Seriously get 750watts or more. If the gpu peaks at 350 watts and the cpu at 225 watts. that’s 575 watts before factoring in everything else. PSUs are very high on the list of problems and typically the 1st thing i look it. With these new vid cards and the new memory hitting over 100c temps and throttling at 110c i’d be very concerned about that. Maybe the throttling needs to be lowed to 105c or 100c.
Ignore these youtube people that keep trying to blame the game when it’s in fact the hardware that’s the problem. Be it a PSU or gpu bios or vrms or mem temp to high and not throttled at a temp that protects it or etc etc.
I don’t want to defend AGS. I just happen to be an expert at this type of stuff and actually know what i’m talking about. I will not respond to any comments about my post that are contrary to what i said as it would be a waste of time and counter productive to resolving the issues at hand.
Lowering power limit from 100% to 60%-70% on 2080s and 3080s in Afterburner reduces temps drastically , and improves performance, create a profile for new world so that the settings loads on launch, beefy cards like that does not have to work very hard to run this game at high framerates even at HD resolutions.
I wish there was an easy answer. The suggestions for lowering your default gpu clocks is a good one to try out to test that piece of hardware. If it works and your gpu temps are ok then it usually means get a better PSU. But there are many exceptions. What monitor do you use. Is the win10 HDR display setting on or off. Try OFF. I’ve had the “no signal” countless times with my setup in the past. But never with Newworld. But i’ve done quite a few things to fix it as below.
Hardware wise most 9xx series were built well if the manufacturer followed the reference Nvidia design as the reference design was done well. They can handle full load except for a few exceptions. Use msi afterburner and create that profile. I use an Intel 2600k and a Nvidia GTX970 myself and have no issues. I know from personal experience that 9xx series and certain motherboards had issues with hdmi and especially DVI. Some had motherboard bios updates to fix the issue. My ASUS P8Z68vpro/gen3 had this issue with certain games in the past til i updated it. Some required a GPU bios update. There wasn’t a gpu bios update for my card which would have been the better solution. Some monitors required an update as well. I use a triple monitor setup for gaming to include this game and use 2 dvi to hdmi adaptors. DVI is rated at 1920x1200 60hz single link and 2560x1200 60 hz dual link. My adaptors are only rated for 1920x1080 60hz. Which is fine as that’s what i use. Don’t know your resolution and don’t even know if your cables need to be checked as well. And even though my monitors are updated for HDR there are some games that cause no display if i use that setting. I can use HDR for Newworld though. But that doesn’t mean you can.
There are just so many possible solutions it can get very frustrating to solve. Except as noted above when i have issues it ends up being sound driver or oddly network driver more so then anything else.
You are showing exactly what a hardware problem looks like. Although technically it can be a motherboard software bios problem. I personally can’t use memory XMP profile with 2 sticks and a lot of people can’t with ASUS motherboards. Disable XMP profile for ASUS motherboards. But if you aren’t using XMP profile give it a try as it can fix problems for some. Is your ram on the Qualified vendors list? Your mobo is rated at 2933mhz max for ram well depending on the cpu. If you use 3600mhz ram you need to run it at the slower speed. You may need to increase ram volts by a hair. From default increase it step by step until you get to +0.05v max. Use a memory testing program. The one in win10 is pretty good. I’ve had so many errors with mine in the past it’s not funny. But i now have a setting that works perfectly for me. These demanding games really stress test your whole computer and especially this game.
Sorry but I’m not gonna go through all this trouble to find a solution for THIS game in particular. Every other game in my PC always ran fine with no issues at all. I’m not a PC wizard and I don’t have to be. I’ve built my PCs over the past 10 years with the same vendor and this is the first time I’ve ever encountered a problem. The new Battlefield beta, warzone, Apex Legends, CS:GO, Diablo 3, Black Desert, and countless other games have never presented any problems. But it just so happens that New World is the most hardware demanding game of all time and our PC couldn’t handle it because they’re all built poorly. Right.
its not that they are built poorly. its that the last 2 gens of videocard are trash. if you google radeon 6*** and nvidias 3*** series, you’ll see nothing but problems with games, RMAs, burnt out parts, issues with brands of ram that passed quality, but a bios update broke it. Hell the x570 rejects Corsair Vengeance
I’m retired and no longer have access to information that my engineering company had. That being info on all the parts used in comps. graphic memory, vrms, you name it. I don’t know what the new graphic memory is rated at temp wise, Be it 100c or 105c or 110c. Is the throttling setting to high currently for Nvidia 3xxx video cards? I have questions but no answers. Even if the memory can handle that temp what about the VRMs? The memory temp goes up and pcb parts also increase as a result. The VRM temps go up and they then lose efficiency. As their efficiency decreases their temps so up as well as now they require more amps. So watts keep going up and up as temps rise. A very vicious cycle. This is why downclocking works for a lot of people. It’s all about the temps and consequently the watts.
I have a 2080 Super and cannot play the game unless I use a GPU tuning app to scale the power back to 70%. I had zero issues in beta, not sure why release is different.
*edit to add: If I leave my GPU at stock settings, I either crash at the menu or can play about 5min before my screen goes black and fans go to 100%.
Just Ignore Wildtothebone, he’s been trolling in these posts about people getting their GPU bricked. He doesn’t even have the hardware to participate in this discussion, no offense
For what it’s worth, and I don’t claim that this applies to everyone, but the bricked EVGA GPUs in New World were identified to have been caused by a bad soldering connection in the first generation of the GPU. A five-minute Google search confirmed this. It’s pretty hard for a game using standard DirectX calls to brick a GPU, or it would be the sort of thing we’d see a LOT more often in graphics-intensive games or exploited by malware developers.
Before you send the card back, look to see if there is any information about when the card was manufactured, as EVGA identified a defect with a certain card run, and if they replaced your card with another one from that time, it would have the same problem. Make sure you get a card from a later manufacturing run if you can.
