Wars need to be disabled - lag results in attackers being overwhelmingly favoured

At current, faction warfare is completely broken. On client-side, other players congregating in an area is brought to an absolute stand-still. This means that, for any one player, it just appears like the rest of the players are stood still. Additionally, healing and area of effect damage doesn’t appear to be working correctly.

However, to my surprise, for single-target DPS, an advantage was discovered in a war I was just present in: damage registry appears to work on players that appear frozen. That means, for those defending a point, this is a major disadvantage: players stood still defending a point are a much easier target for ranged DPS and, as a result, players get wiped en-masse and absolutely nothing can be done about it. This has reduced defensive capability by a significant fraction, resulting in wars lasting 5 minutes or less (our war was lost within 7 minutes).

Strategic movement, area of effect damage, and healing are absolutely critical to success in wars. At current, none of these can be achieved. Therefore, I kindly ask the developers at AGS to consider freezing wars until this issue is fixed. This was the most negative, horrible, multiplayer gaming experience I have ever had in 30 years of gaming.

Best,
Gwynnym

Just to add: this is not a client-side performance issue. This is a server-side performance issue.

This is completely incorrect and not what we have experienced at all. Defenders are completely favored in a laggy war as the attackers can not kill them if they don’t know where they are. All the defenders have to do in this current lag fest is keep enough AOE on the point to wipe anyone who goes there while simultaneously keep moving around the point so they can never die. No one has lost a territory on our server since the lag.

Fascinating. On our server, three territories (including Windsward) have changed hands when they have remained reasonably static for the last week or so. Windsward was lost by possibly the most dominant company on the server within minutes by the faction which previously held zero territories.

We did not observe any AOE effects at all. Not from healing, damage, or anything.

Both wars I’ve been in, one as attacker and one as defender, were complete stomps by attackers (less than 10 min captures). When attacking, I was 1 v 10 on the point and wasn’t dying because they couldn’t hit me. All I done was run circles around the the flag. Regardless of which side has an advantage wars need to be disabled until this is fixed.

50 % of whine threads say no chance for attackers to win a war. 50% say no chance for defenders.

In any case, the system clearly is not working as intended and is completely ruining one of the very few pieces of end-game content.

I agree with Gwynnym, this shouldn’t be labeled as a ‘whining thread’, the goal should be to draw attention to a serious game performance issue that is not under the players’ control.

Regardless of which side has the advantage from the issue it makes the war less dependent on things we can control (planning and execution) and much more dependent on things we cannot control (server lag). As a result the content is far less enjoyable and just becomes stressful for both sides, though the defenders likely have more to lose in these situations from my personal experiences.

Here’s a video I uploaded of the first war I participated in only a few hours after the patch (version 1.1) went live. There were multiple people in the discord call also complaining about the lag, and I have never experienced this kind of lag before while playing the game.
