War/Territory System Update Idea

Companies can attack/challenge other companies “for the territory”, and you play the war on that territory’s map.

Add a leaderboard for each territory. The #1 company on the leaderboard for that territory is the one that shows on the map. The company wins the company discounts. The faction of that company gets faction discounts.

Taxes are the same everywhere. Taxes are distributed to the top 10(?) companies in each territory.

Wars are instances (?), so multiple can be fought at the same time for that territory.

Company siege times are now able to be set for each territory.

Still implement cooldowns for war participation (one per day, reset with dailies). And still implement war participation cooldown on switching companies (2-7 days, important: greater than war participation cooldown). Implement a war participation cooldown for server transfer, at minimum, to reflect company switching. And keep faction transfer the longest (7 days minimum, with the requirements to complete the trials before being able to participate in wars).

Can declare/attack/challenge any company higher up on the leaderboard. RIP 3 faction system?

Still have an influence system, but it will be easier/faster in that it only takes the amount it would normally take to get 10%, but it only pertains to your company’s ability to challenge another faction’s company higher up on the leaderboard. First to declare gets the declare. If defending siege time is same as warring siege time, whichever is declared first is what is played out. A company only get one war per day determined when first declare is initiated. Influence resets with daily cooldowns.

Still work on / release the company slotting requirements: Allow 5-25 slots to merc from other companies regardless of faction, and make it regardless attack/defense.

Still have to purchase to declare against a reigning company. It is now a wager and goes to the winning company.

Still work on making new game mode: practice wars (20v20 EG/GC/SM forts, 50v50 the rest of the forts) where you don’t have to push influence, nor have to pay to declare…or maybe a wager (no min, no max) the same from both sides?

Add cleanse pots, and make consumables free/infinite in OPR and practice wars.

Company name changes have cooldowns (7 days?), and PLEASE fix being able to see which company a player belongs to!

Great ideas! I think it would be cool if AGS allowed more functionality with wars and other PvP gameplay aspects since they now have instanced game modes.

Practice modes sound good for letting other players participate and test things as well, not to mention I’m hoping they add cross-server gameplay as well to spice things up a bit.

Giving players any kind of gold that doesn’t have a limit cap is a bad idea

for each player or every member of a company?

if your company is too good, and nobody attacks you, you cant join any wars? could also be an issue if population numbers is low

using merc limits the number of players that play war, you should work with what you have available

its what i suggested too but each territory should have some special rewards that doesn’t need to give power or gold

(and)

i agree with the notion of no cap, however this system would spread it out, and with no control of rates, no company can overinflate their profits. also, aside from the distribution of taxes to the top 10(?) companies on the leaderboard, the #1 company gets company discount and anyone in the faction of the #1 company gets faction discount.

does your concern lie with being able to see/track how much a company is making? maybe have more information available like actual company rosters and a history of leaderboard positions and taxes received from the company in the company tab available to all. governor’s desk would remain the same. not sure where the leaderboard access (for immersion) would be available in game though. part of the war board?

also, i guess taxes would then be paid daily, for whatever the leaderboard look like at 5am server time when dailies reset.

each player. one war a day. attacking or defending. you can play for your company or merc for another. invasions are separate (controlled by #1 on leaderboard as if it was current system). so you could have one war and multiple invasions if you wanted per day.

this is how it is now. you only get war when challenged, or there is another company who owns a territory you can challenge. do you mean how do you get access to signing up for other wars? there would have to be a way to see that on the leaderboard and you would sign up there. no different than now where you can only sign up for one slot at a time.

i think i understand your concern. with this system, any company can challenge any other company ahead of them on the leaderboard. there would theoretically be at least one war per territory per time slot per day (excluding when there’s an invasion)…that’s a lot of wars! that creates more slots to be filled, so more players needed for war!

that’s same good ideas, maybe needs some tweaking here and there, but could work, hope you make more ideas or build into this one

Thank you for your feedback! Interesting idea.

I will forward your suggestions to the Dev team.

the intention of this leaderboard system is to add elements to make it a ridiculous chore to get the returns of exploiting with alt accounts and shell companies, while not lessening the accessibility and ability to be viable in meaningful end-game elements.

i think we can all agree that the most meaningful part of the current territory system is which company (with their shell companies) is on the map - aka the leaderboard. the income of taxes going to these mega companies are not being responsibly redistributed to the economy and is just fueling the black market and RMT (either to AGS with alt account purchasing and server transfers, or just between players) while ruining the purchased game content of players who do not wish to participate in the extra curriculars.

anyway…it’s not perfect, and still won’t be, but some additional thoughts on the proposed system:

problem: the war zone locks during wars. can’t push influence (or farm nodes) with lock.
solution: no more war zone locks.

problem: so many potential problems. mainly that companies could use shells to challenge themselves to being challenged.
solution: company siege time is same for all territories.

problem: this could be used to block being challenged.
solution: can not be scheduled for same time of either involved company’s siege time.

yes, yes, yes! cross-server regional arenas! also maybe cross-server regional practice modes too. the potential of too much confusion and accessibility to pertinent information (war boards, siege times, declarations, invasions) i would suggest leaving wars server-based only.

.

ps - one thing i really like about this game is the 3 faction system. this would get rid of one element of that in the name of territory leaderboards and it makes me sad, but shell companies make me more sad.

update: attacking companies choose the siege time. where in this universe do the defenders control when they’re attacked?

tl;dr 11(12 with BS) x top 3/5/10 companies = impossible for shell companies to dominate the top of each territory leaderboard.
