thanks for your input. good to hear the experience from someone in a similar position. I also have some old company friends contemplating returning to the game. but they are in a similar situation to how I’m feeling.
whilst I’m sure I could pickup the game again and catchup in a matter of days or a week. Its not great for the “new” player.
First you say you are not coming back because there isn’t a gear score/level increase. Then you say you are not coming back because it’s too hard to catch up when someone told there is still progression without the standard level score/new gear progression.
Because they are adding new runes system. Increasing GS to 650 is really lame way to extend character progression, they made a good choice. But 65 lvl cap hmm why not
No more level increase for now till they the game harder… hardest PVE content is too easy now and going to be even easier with the new ultimate and gem upgrades…
the point is it isn’t like there isn’t plenty to do. i agree that raising hte level cap at this point would be a nail in the coffin. why do you need that to enjoy the game? if everything else is great why is that your line in the sand? it sounds like you aren’t 625 so you already have your work cut out for you? you’d just have more catching up to do if they raised it again.
This is such a weird post. Gearscore is massive in difference of damage and survivability.
At 570 you have to usually do the normal standard run in genesis for example.
At 590 you just run in and insta delete it skipping basically all mechs. At 625 the 2nd mech doesn’t even appear anymore and with hev armor u can just facetank everything with 100con.
And don’t get me even started about PvP. I’m a huge pvp enthusiast and I was literally last 3 places on OPR boards for the first week at GS 520.
Now I’m back to top 5 every single OPR with GS at 615. And probably will be top 1-3 every game with 625 AND perks.
It’s a MASSIVe difference. The same reason noone will take you with 615 in a m10 run lol. Even 5 gs does make a difference there.
Most people quit at around lvl 30-40, they’re way behind people who invested 1-3k hours which is somewhat the majority of this games playerbase still. Raising the cap would just create a way bigger discrepancy between these groups. Discouraging them to even play at all. (even if it wouldn’t be a dividing factor in dps/defense, it’s just the typical mmo mindset).
That’s why a ton of players wait for fresh servers, just to have the chance to play it slow and still not be 3k hours behind right from the beginning
And OP played 4x the amount of the average nolifer at start. Obviously he has nothing to do
This is kind of how it is in MMO’s that when you take a long break that you are behind. It is also a lot easier to increase it now then it was.
I took a 4 month break and finding it a lot easier to get expertise up. I would give it 2-3 weeks and see how your expertise looks. The good news is it looks like in Brimstone their isn’t another GS increase so at least it still 625 for you.
Sounds like you prefer heavy grinder games, which tends to be the opposite of most of the players here.
Also, let’s just acknowledge that you’ve got basically 600 more hours than my CURRENT played and that was 8 months ago and I’m basically done with everything the game has to offer.
If you are already at 625 then you haven’t been gone that long lol. I think, and many others agree, that this game has changed a ton in the past year and for the better. I would love to have seen more content, but I’m glad the focus was on making the core game better. With the groundwork laid it will be easier for them to focus on content in the future.
Please no to vertical leveling every expansion.
Vertical leveling is just filler to get to endgame. There’s next to no endgame content, so no justification for upping the max level, and gearscore doesn’t need an increase and most people still haven’t completed the hwm/expertise grind.
They made the right move by not adding more vertical leveling to brimstones.
If not being able to level up is the reason you aren’t coming back… lol I just read the final part of his post where he says new players would be more interested in returning if there was more vertical leveling… LOL KEKW
