Wasted Potential

Usually I would just delete a game and move on but with this one, I’m having trouble doing so because had so much hope for it. A game created by a massive company, with the resources to make a AAA title that would blow the others out of the water… giving players a novel and exciting experience. Yet here we are, over a month into release and it’s the most buggy MMO I’ve played in ages. Yes, all games have bugs at the start but they are usually dealt with quickly or else the game dies. It’s definitely beautiful and has great sound, but it’s just lipstick on a pig at this point.

There are so many issues that it’s hard to even list them all.

  • Half the skills simply don’t work correctly

  • The passive abilities don’t proc or work as intended.

  • Constant server/lag issues

  • Exploits that make certain abilities overpowered (eg. hatchet bug)

  • Constant gold spamming in global chat

  • The auction house always has issues, from “item is at a different trade post” to the screen randomly refreshing itself to the inability to search by attribute.

  • Constantly getting stuck in the ground/trees/unfinished terrain, which is even worse when you’re fighting and mobs can just kill you.

  • Ridiculous respawn rates on mobs, either way too fast so you can’t move through an area or sitting there for 20 minutes waiting for 1 mob. Not to mention, if they respawn close to you there’s no grace period to get out of the way, they instantly attack and you become overwhelmed with mobs.

  • Lack of endgame content

  • Inability to switch faction if you joined the wrong one at first and your friends are in a different one unless they have less territory. (This one’s personal, I’m level 53 now and joined the wrong one at start. Good chance I’ll never be able to play with my friends since the faction they’re in controls the most territory and no sign of that changing. Only warning when joining was the 120 days.)

  • Allowing gold duping and exploits to occur and instead of punishing those responsible and fixing the exploit, just punishing everyone by disabling any trading.

I had such high hopes for this game, I keep playing hoping that all these issues will be addressed but it seems that every time they try a minor fix, they break something else big and don’t address it for weeks.

It seems that the developers either don’t have the resources and manpower to fix this game, don’t have the experience in game design needed for a project of this scale or have simply taken everyone’s money and checked out.

So sure, post your “can I have your stuff” and whatever other defenses of the game you want. I wouldn’t spend my time writing this if I didn’t care and want to see this game succeed. But eventually you’re going to be one of just a handful of guys playing an abandoned game with a few others if these issues are not fixed asap.

They already made a game that didn’t last a month - game name Crucible

Yep.

Amazon will kill if it thinks it’s needed. New World isn’t close to that, though.
