If you read my posts above and they implemented something similar to that - I don’t see there being any actual problem without PvP servers.
The main problem is that right now without PvP servers and without any real incentives to combat the disincentives of flagging vs unflagging, there is very little open world PvP to speak of that isn’t outright zerging PvP missions.
Launch being the operative word there. I don’t see why there would be anyone on the forums or anywhere else opposed to PvP servers. What is your motivation for not having them? They would be completely optional for you to take part in.
I suspect if AGS did a survey monkey of PvP players most players would be pleased with the simple removal of the toggle system. The next bracket of players would want a removal of a toggle system and a ‘truce’ system for expedition runs. And after that would likely be ‘full loot’.
The unique territory-based PvP system is what made this game a success. Not the crafting, expedition and leveling system. The likelihood of some unique type of PvP server is very high, as long as the player base keeps demanding it. I don’t think we will get them within the first 6 month’s, but likely within the next year and a half.
What a silly straw man argument or can you show me where anyone at anytime have said they want to convert an already established pve server to a pvp server?
They actually did, there is no meaningful pvp in this game. I know you will argue OR and Sieges, but both modes are shit, servers cant handle 20v20, not even to talk about 50v50. open world pvp doesnt exist, its rarer than geting voidbent ore.
Can you explain meaningful PvP? Was it the kind of PvP where gank gangs ran amok and killed people on the spawn points? Were you one of those gankers that killed PvP and now you’re whining about reaping what you sowed?
Part of the problem with doing pvp only servers is that pvp, like it or not, is an integral part of the game because of territory ownership. If all the die-hard pvpers flocked to a handful of servers, that wouldn’t be great for other servers that would then be at a loss for pvpers to take and defend territory.
I like pvp, but I like the option to have it off. People camping quest objectives isn’t fun.
Personally, I still don’t understand the reason why such a server is needed at all. What higher motives are there to be PvP-flagged all the time? I can really only think of the underlining motives.
Meaningfull pvp is when there is something to fight over and stomething to win or lose. Just as small part of people like to troll and receive plesure when ruining some ones elses day, same small part enjoys one shotting low lvl player and getting enjoyment from it. If you cant handle trolls or gankers maybe you shouldnt play online games and live sheltered life from all triggers.
Nevertheless, as small part of playerbase likes to exploit loopholes, majority doesnt. And majority of players who like pvp and pve, would like servers where the games rules are the same for everyone, so noone can turn off pvp flag to get advantage in pve. This gives pvp meaning, you can fight for best farming spots or just kill people you dont like.
Now what if we had a PvP server where you were only unflagged in your own territory so there a place where you can be safe. Personally would prefer a 24/7flagged server myself
But this might be a nice mid point.
