I honestly care more about they bringing content focused on revive the Open World PvP than creating stupid instanced arenas. If I would want instanced PvP I would be playing CSGO. MMOs stands for “Massive Multiplayer blábláblá” so let’s me fight in huge groups against others huge groups.
We need small scale instanced PVP for sure. While I would prefer open world, pop is not there for it anymore and the game cannot seem to handle a thing more than 5v5… in an MMO… wow what a fail.
The Evolution of New World’s PvP - News | New World For everyone saying it’s full pvp, this game never been intended to be full loot pvp since 2 years. Edit quote : For the folks who enjoy harsh pvp environment, New world might not be the game for you
Ppl teleport during pvp, hitboxes don’t hit, some skills sometimes don’t work as intended, etc. After a few months of this, it’s not fun to play anymore.
It really isnt a constant issue tho, the system and combat feel has been improving and feeling more smooth imo, just the server desync is my only true issue
some of us will play as long as the game exists even if there is no pvp. even if opr goes away. even if pvp flagging is turned off.
but as the game population declines, you can keep telling yourself that lack of arenas is the main reason.
Not really, there are a lot of compounding issues that cause the decline in concurrent players.
1.) The switch from skill-based PvP to PvE gear-base PvP.
2.) The unopposed exploiting and duping.
3.) The game breaking more and more with each patch.
4.) The lack of meaningful PvE content.
5.) The increased grinds that got tacked on. Crafting nerfed, gear acquisition being nerfed, town boards nerfed, fishing nerfed, and so on. To make the game more grindy for no other reason but for the lack of content it has.
6.) Increasing the gear gap so early in game to 625.
7.) Dungeons requiring many hours of grind to secure each run.
8.) Obvious bots freely running around.
9.) Very unbalanced weapons and weight status.
10.) No equalized competitive PvP modes that give decent rewards.
11.) RNG on top of RNG on top of more RNG on top of even more RNG. Meaning the whole game is little more than a slot machine that could’ve been tab target. Because the player themselves have very little agency over their own progression.
Those and more are the reasons of the decline of the playerbase. You and everyone else would do good, look at which updates coincided with each exodus of players. You all will then also notice the trend.
