We should have a dungeon finder

This would be horrible, cause lower level players wouldn’t play the dungeon, only be carried.

because it’s a good fantasy trope, and if you meet in the front of the dungeon, chances are big, that’s where you part, too.

Also, this way, if you can’t find players, you can run a round around the city, empty your bags, and try again. Who want’s to enter a dungeon with filled bags?

Right, I don’t disagree that it’s an imperfect solution but how do you propose the issue is resolved unless a level syncing system is implemented. I’m throwing out the ideas of allowing it to be skippable or solo-able because it seems to go against the idea of running a dungeon with people to begin with.

Mentoring system, that gives higher level players a reward, if they run dungeons with low level players as long as they use an equal item level?
That might reduce the ability of just carrying low level players? I actually have not a firm grasp of the level vs. gear experience, yet.

@emboaba I agree! Last night a friend and I spent 20-30 min spamming in gobal and recruitment chat looking for a tank and healer for a dungeon… it was not fun. Having a looking for group system or dungeon finder would help a lot and to be honest is pretty much standard in today’s MMO world. Spamming in a looking for group channel in an MMO is so 2004 lol.

It really doesn’t. All that is happening now is people yelling in area or recruitment trying to sort through everything that isn’t relevant to finally get into a group, say “Hi!” in chat only to be met with complete silence for the entire dungeon.

Or better yet, say “first time run” because it’s your actual main story quest only to get the response of “nvm” and have them drop group and have to start the process again. The game is all but a couple of weeks old and already people are dropping people from groups for not being veteran dungeon delvers.

The idea that games are more social without a dungeon finder is a fantasy of EQ players living in the past

is that not what happens in games WITH DF? Having a button to group everyone up wont change you getting what you claim is happening. Theres a reason this game got a following and its because everyone was tired of these systems. I see the general negative response on these forums all stems from being used to instant rewards. People are used to pressing a button and having all the leg work done for them. From people complaining their meta build cant beat another meta build to being upset that the grind to 200 is “too long.” The game has more glaring problems right now that resources should go to than adding a “Dungeon Finder” because people are afraid of having a little communication with one another.

Having a way to actually get a group is not “instant reward”, you are failing to understand the concept. Also spamming “LFG” ain’t really communicating. Finally, you can still spam chat for a group if you prefer to, even if there is a cross-server dungeon finder.

I have a question. Are you adding people as friends after dungeon runs? Are you asking your guild for help? You dont have to stare at global chat if you need a group when you have people in your guild or people on your friends list. Unless you want to play this game like a solo game and never speak to other people I guess.

Eh no on group finder. Recruitment chat has been great for finding groups. Have met a lot of people and made quite a few friends. If i am unable to find someone in chat, i always have people in my company to fall back on as well.

I feel like some people are anti social and just want to be plopped into a group and not communicate anything. If that’s the case there are plenty of mmo’s with that already.

I dont get why so many people are against dungeon finder. How is spamming lfg for hours socializing? Lmao. If you don’t wanna use the group finder you dont have to.

definitely not, the current system works fine.

Would be nice if you would actually read the ideas for a group finder. Nowhere will you find the request for “autogroup-teleport to last boss-feature”.
What we want is a better way to communicate with other players that have trouble to find players for dungeons. And, so that you don’t have to rely on the population of one city, maybe a feature to connect with players from other cities. I think teleport somewhat near a dungeon is a good compromise.

Recruitment chat is hit and miss, if you are lucky, it works, if not, you can try starting new on another server. I don’t think that’s a good system.
And even if it wasn’t as bad as i have seen, chat is still “out of world” meaning it breaks immersion and has the least potential for roleplay. And even if it does nothing more, than connect the chat to an in-game place, it would still be better, than it is now.

than why should the proposed system stop working for you? We’re not asking for auto-grouping!
So why are you against something, that helps socializing and doesn’t cost anything?
