Weapon perk being stronger on weapons Feedback

With this update, if the perks on weapons are going to be strong enough to be demanded into every build then most weapons now would become trashed.

Also, every piece of gear that we have that has said perk on it is trashed as well. Metas change, I understand, but with all the balancing going on, you can’t just trash everyone every month. Big changes like this can improve the game, I agree but there has to be a better way to impliment this.

Can we get feedback on the ideal strength you guys are referring to? Is it going to be demanded to have it on the weapon? Is it an option and other weapon perks are just as viable? Is it going to drastically change the way the ability works?

Execute on GA for example. It’s worthless as aPvP ability, but if it gains something like lifesteal instead of heal on kill and the animation is sped up if it’s on the weapon, that can become the best PvP GA ability.

I would honestly prefer weapons or weapons mastery to be changed to cushion the impact.

This is my idea for implimentation of this system.

Instead of trashing so many pieces of gear and weapons causing us to re-roll everything we have then get new items to 625, why not just add a point after the ultimate passive?

Something like this.

After you select ultimate passive, select an ability to augment. Requires weapon perk on armor, remove weapon perks from weapons. 3 damage perks is in a good spot. It would shift the meta so hard and require more balancing.

My thoughts on the weapon perks if the above is ignores.

Only having two perks then having one augmented ability limits build potential and transfers one perk to armor due to it being on weapons. This would have a massive impact on PvP.

If that’s the goal, by all means, go ahead. If the mechanic of one ability being strong is the goal and you want it on weapons, then make each weapon Force Roll a weapon perk if weapon perks are going to be huge and mandatory then.

You can make it so that every weapon has a skill perk, even existing named items, maybe add the 4th perk and keep the 3 perks currently, just RNG roll a weapon perk. It could make you need a different BlackGuards Hatchet. One could have rending throw, one could have berserk, but the weapon stays the same.

If going with the above mentioned mastery addition:

  • It would nullify the mass effect it would have on BiS and gear changes.
  • Give Freedom of choice to a click rather than 500k on getting a new weapon.
  • Current BiS may stay BiS.
  • Weapon RNG impeovement.
  • Keep the mechanic of one ability being the focus of builds.

If going through with suspected change not involving a technical 4th perk:

  • Massive META shift.
  • Massive gear changes
  • Major weapon nullifications if this perk becomes a must on builds for effectiveness.
  • Removes a perk on weapons to slot skill perks rendering many many items useless.
  • Damage changes could be extremely impactful resulting in an even greater disparity in balance.
  • It could also fix the balance. I don’t know what kind of, “bonuses,” these perks are giving.

Thoughts anyone?

I just don’t think nullifying 50% of people’s gear is a good idea, that’s just me though.

I like the change the diffrence would have to be massive tho like at least 50% better for it to nullify the existing bis perks on a weapon hopefully each is tuned carefully like some could be twice as good and still be reasonably and then some like empowering fireball on a firestaff would be way too good if it were twice as good on a weapon hard to make a judgement call on that one tho until I see the patch notes (pls give us patch note ags) any way I do like your idea and i find totally reasonably depending on how hard they buff on a weapon.

They could make it really, really simple…

Weapon charm inserted into gem slot to gain a boosted affect for that skill.

Drawback would be no gem.

I’d their goal is to get away from 3 damage perks, then so be it I guess…

Im hoping that these changes are going to big enough that it theoretically changes the weapons playstyle depending on which perk youre using, ultimately adding exponentially to overall build diversity.

I mean its a pretty mammoth task, but a month
and a half I see no reason it couldnt be done.

I really hope this isnt something like a 10% more effective perk or something completely not worth the effort to even change.

Exactly. If it’s only a small buff, what’s the point?

I hope they release PTR ASAP. I want to see these changes so bad.

I dont see any reason why we couldnt start having different variations of the same perk as well.

Insatiable grav well for example could have a
200% lifesteal version, or a 200% damage version,
or an automatic root version…

Maelstrom could not eat friendly projectiles,
Or spin a 3rd time, or whatever you guys want.

The possibilities are literally endless and I really, really, really, really, really hope this is the path theyre going down.

Since were only essentially given 3 abilities per
weapon, weve got to get some variation more than
just “Do I take reap or maelstrom” etc.

This again would be a mammoth undertaking at this point but I havent lost hope that we can start moving in this direction.

Instead of tripling the amount of craft mods for weapon perks, a new craft mod could be introduced that would modify already existing weapons that have those weapon specific perks to 1 of the 3 or 87 versions.

Skys the limit.
