Weapon perk "BUFFS" (specifically on armor) removed upon weapon swap

Howdy Gamers!

Forgive me if I have missed something as I do not browse the forums very often.

I have noticed in game “buffs” from weapon perks (on armor) now being removed upon weapon swaps. Ever since the release of this game, a weapon perk “Buff” has stayed, providing the weapon perk is on armor and the “conditions” of the perk are met. If on weapon the “buff” is removed upon a weapon swap, as the weapon perk technically is no longer equipped. It has been this way ever since you could visually see buffs on your character, which is the entirety of the games existence.

To name a few weapon perk inconsistences off the top of my head: On armor the “buffs” generated from these weapon perks are completely removed upon weapon swap “fortifying perforate”, “fortifying shield rush” and “Empowering meteor”. However “Omnidirectional evade” and “Fortifying sacred ground” buff persist if on armor. Unsure if this in intentional or not.

This widely known mechanic greatly increased build diversity. after all, if on both weapon and armor they are to work the exact same way, when EVER is a weapon perk better on armor, generally speaking, NEVER. Typically players could opt for the weaker weapon perk (on armor) in order for it to persist upon a weapon swap. This was and has been widely understood by players to my knowledge. If on a weapon, it’s removed. On armor, it stays (activating from the armor). Many players have based builds around these perks to help curtain weapon combinations gain strength were they might of had weaknesses.

I understand there are some perks that might be too strong from this mechanic and so we balance them accordingly. WE DO NOT CHANGE THE ENTIRE WAY THE GAME HAS WORKED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. I feel having a very 1 dimensional build on all builds due to this change is more detrimental for the games health overall. Taking away some of the “action” in action combat.

Can we get an official outlook on this issue? If, it is the direction the game is going to take for all weapon perks that role on armor, this might be completely build breaking for a lot of people.

I have chosen my words very carefully for specifics, please do the same on this topic. It is very easy to generalize these topics potentially miss directing.

cheers Jaunty.

All buffs are gone the moment you swap weapons. Fortifying Perforate, Keenly Empowered, Keenly Fortified, etc. That was changed some time ago.

This was changed back in June. Been this way for a long while now. I definitely wish i could still have perforate persist.

i belive the empower on evade also stays after weapon swap ?

Well apologies. I am just catching up on some of this now. They did not change all of them over night as you stated some changes were months apart from each other by what I can see on forums. others have not yet even been changed and possibly will never be changed leaving no uniformity to what stays and what goes upon weapon swap.

Ok, So this is why I asked people to be very clear and specific when talking about this issue. The so called change they implemented months back to my knowledge was that things like keenly empowered, keen speed, mortal empowerment (perks only available on the weapons) are removed upon a weapon swap. This was absolutely necessary as the empowerments were extremely strong on a weapon with very short cooldowns. All other weapon perks (actually on the weapon) could not cross over from weapon to weapon so they were an outlier to the rule. Making for some exploitative behavior’s.-

No perks on armor were changed at this point to my knowledge. Then some individuals said that the Grav well perk works on weapon swap and it shouldn’t. Yes on armour it does it always has. If the perk is on armor no, if on weapon yes, simple. One is stronger than the other and so you have balance and a decision for the player creating there build. Every single weapon perk has worked this way in game always.

To summarize it all. I feel we are leading more and more down the path of just playing the strongest most powerful weapon perks or combinations and it will not be good for the game.

yep this is the case saint. it doesnt stay for long but it stays for the 2 second duration.

This was the one I noticed quite a while back also. I just thought it might be bugged and so kept persevering with it. Now after doing some home work on the forums, have realized the disaster that is beginning to unfold. Some people did not understand the difference between perks on armor and perks on weapons and complained. They have worked this way from the very beginning of the game. Just categorized them into one general case and blew up on the forums accordingly. So now what we have is some armor perks not working and others working upon a weapon swap.

All of this aside though, I feel if every single buff or empowerment from weapon perks on your armor is to be removed upon a weapon swap it is not good for the game at all. It leads to less and less build diversity, everyone running the same two weapon perks on weapons when using a set of weapons. so yeah, ultimately trying to get some traction on this. Fingers crossed.

Yea man, why even use those perks when the fortify / empower just vanishes on weapons swap!

Everyone would have no choice but to use perks like shirking fortification only.

Sad

Yep its just build limiting overall. its a shame they just overlook things like this once a few people just complain on forums I don’t understand it to be honest. its a well known effect that all armor perks have had, persisting on weapon swap. leaves you feeling a little lost inside. A build you have been working on that no one else plays, perfect! Then they change the way something works now its nearly in-effective. Apparently its how it never should have worked since game release… but then some still do work so I don’t know anymore.
