Technically a lot of us never even mained GA. It was just our secondary weapon for a STR big stick build.
My hammer is my damage output and my main CC dealer.
GA is just for movement and using maelstrom or gravwell cooldowns to set myself up to get the hammer wombo combo to hit with all the attacks.
The GA opener is just to get the foot in the door and slow you, or burn some of your defensive cooldowns out of panic, while I get in range to land a shockwave, heavy attack, gavel 1 2, and then blast you with path when you try to run.
Every human is biased; are you saying you have no bias? You quite obviously do, as do I. I play on Calnogor and I still see GA quite a lot in PvP (open world, OPR, and wars). You suggesting that it is not a significant part of the meta is disingenuous at best.
Technically? If someone has it equipped in either slot, they’re using it. “I’m only using it for X” is such a silly non-statement.
I only use reap to stick to a target.
I only use charge to catch up to a target.
I only use gravity well to set myself up for a combo.
I only use blood lust to gap close.
No, but I’m saying that I’m at least trying to look at weapon balance with as little bias as possible whereas you very clearly dislike GA based on your other response. I also play on Calnogor, play in wars and see very few GA. Most people I know using it have switched off it. Do you really think the lunge overnerf isn’t a problem? GA players cannot hit anyone pressing W.

It’s not their main weapon, its a second weapon for utility.
Most of the hatred for GA is this misplaced nonsense where people go “oh you just left click and kill everything with it”.
That’s not how we use GA, and hasn’t been since they gutted the movement aspects of it, along with the reach, and the crit multiplier was also lowered. It went from a viable weapon for damage output, to a utility second weapon during the last round of nerfs.
These changes would remove half of it’s utility, and it already lost its ability to be a main damage weapon and get you kills consistently.
or better yet…compare the lunge that is essential to hit for a melee weapon to some non melee weapon as say…hmm VG…also look at the DPS when youre at it…

No, I sure don’t! The GA is a big two-handed weapon with a ton of mobility, healing from attacks, and high damage output against multiple targets. I think it’s okay that it cannot lunge 5 meters with light attacks.
The way you worded it is kind of weird (no weapon extends past the edge of the swing), but I get what you’re trying to say and it’s wrong. Take a light swing with the great axe - it does move you forward 2-3 feet. The heavy swing moves you forward about 3-4 feet.
So GA shouldn’t be able to hit autos unless the enemy player is completely standing still?
I’ve been in plenty of wars since the server started and can get into any war I want. Ign: Daemon. You? GA has fallen off completely besides grav well. GA can do good aoe damage if a group of people stand still through all of its skills, but why would they? You know what does more damage than a full GA combo? Ice spike. Root is the best CC in the game on account of not being broken on damage which is why meta is IG/VG.
Its supposed to move you forward 3 meters, not 3 feet.
It currently does not reach the range they said it does and people have tested it.
We aren’t talking about the weapon range, but the range of the lunge it is supposed to have when you hold W and put the cursor on an enemy and then attack while still holding W.
The axe is like 6 feet long itself and that’s all it reaches. The lunge is about half a step forward in the best case scenario and this should make you reach 3 meters, but it doesnt happen.
The heavy reaches a bit further and takes so long to windup you’ll never land it.
As a GA/WH player who has limited gold, still getting lev 60 gear for this single build, if this nurf goes ahead I will probably quit. I cant afford to change builds, in gold and time cost.
The forum moderators feed irrelevant incorrect information to devs and dont explain why changes need to be made at all. Its so depressing. We seem to have a broken feedback system between moderators and devs.
Moderators appear incapable or unwilling to list reasons for major nurfs of gear or weapons. And keep on making same mistakes time after time, disenchanting players.
The recent bug fixes have introduced massive lagging in every area of the map and game , when servers have less and less players. Market place is dying there is very little new gear or weapons appearing to even support a respec if I could even afford to do that.
As a GA/WH player in PVP every other player type can already escape Gravity, I get shredded by Rapier and locked by Void/IceGauntlet.
GA will become irrelevant, and I havent the will or desire, time or gold to respec
Why do Moderators and devs want top destroy their player base? it beats me.
Time and time again, since the dinosaurs roamed this planet, poor naive game developers tried to make PvP and PvE work well together. It is a pointless endeavor that results in endless nerfs and tweaks that only upset the game more than fixing it.
This will never work. Most MMO developers know it. You have to wait for AGS to fuck it up some more and hope they will actually learn from thousands of years of experience of existing MMOs.
To be honest I don’t think rapier needs the escape it has. Fleche is it? Rapier users are almost uncatchable. At the very least that ability needs to be nerfed
I go into OPR with full heavy voidbent, 200 con and full cut pristine onyx. And little guy with a toothpick (rapier) will bully me. It makes sense that they are highly mobile and are hard to catch. But they do way too much damage to someone in heavy armor.
