title says it all
AGS destroyed Eden.
Your point may be valid for other servers, but no. The blame for Eden’s death rests solely on AGS
They locked it for no good reason with and it remained locked until well after the server died.
Agree, transfers of PvP hopping companies ruin servers whether transferring to take control or leaving because they can’t win anymore.
I’ve seen it on 3 servers now due to merges, Maramma is my 4th and looks to be headed in the same direction.
Maramma was actually pretty balanced after Edenites first merged their.
AGS has no idea how to keep server balance.
I would have to agree, I am on the Maramma and I have seen a HUGE change in the last few weeks, from areas being taken over by 1 faction, the market prices have gone way up, and being able to get high tier stuff… (ironwood, starmetal, etc…) is almost a joke because of people who are camping the areas… pretty bad when ironwood is almost 20 gold for 1 plank. Just very frustrating when you are trying to play the game as intended but not much you can really do… I am having fun but I feel the “fun slipping” by each day… I hope they fix because something needs to be done.
Yeah, these mass transfers are causing massive and shocking impacts on the game.
There’s beginning to seem a divide between players and it’s showing in ugly ways. The people who keep lording over servers are quickly amounting a name as the game’s demise.
It’s a never ending cycle.
Server gets popular, and pvp companies transfer to it. Prices go up, bots and gold farmers capitalize, which runs off normal players. Players that want to gather and just play the game.
Server count drops. Companies that can’t compete with the new toxic companies leave. Then it just snow balls as one company eventually controls most of the map, and no one wants to keep bashing their head into a wall to try to beat em. Eventually the server dies, and doesn’t recover. Orun is the end result of this. Pluto is next, then Maramma.
Servers need a balance of PvE and PvP to survive.
And don’t forget… each time it happens people quit and don’t come back.
The core faction system and population management are the two biggest problems in the game at this point, and have been for a long time.
It’s a gold rush of locusts.
Biblical proportions of locusts. Comes and goes in waves.
Absolute truth
IMO, game needs to get rid of the faction system, and add some sort of cool down for war goers…or something. Has to be a way to keep it from happening over and over.
Hell, make the territories give less gold to the companies…or something.
This is what I’d do.
Problems potentially solved (or at least mitigated):
- Economic imbalance created between haves and have nots.
- Destabilization of servers due to mass transfer
- Inability for casuals to participate in core game mechanics (settlement flips & invasions)
- Lack of open world pvp
- Competitive balance between factions
- Purposeful griefing/rmt by companies
You’ve made a point…planning on proving it?
Never really thought of it like that…but truth. It’s the exact same groups lmao. At some point, they have to return to previously ruined servers.
Well i rarely want to comment on any of this wild speculation that people have about other players since the beginning of the game, but granted i may not play more, i will hit reply with some insight.
Let’s not pretend that maramma mid section (ef/bw/ww etc…) wasn’t held by a big company with shells companies before the recent transfer + purple taking over. Also, its not like yellow /green are beating the Suspect B Team when they are not using a shell company on their second territory. While you could point out that even before any transfer yellow was killing the game, the fact that the wars has been that stale until the transfer is probably a unhealthy state regardless.
Maramma pvp / pve level was even lower than expected, the transferees was simply much better. You can probably spot their members playing opr and being at least 20 -30% point higher than the next player. There are multiple footage /pov + stream in every single take over war, so you can make your own conclusions.
I know it may be shocking to you, but people would transfer for war slots in a PVP game may be a entirely new concept?
The people i know on the takeover roster are in their mid 30s /40s with an engineering/IT career, so this is actually just for fun.
I can also tell you that the gold seller are not the ones that easily took over the entire map. You gotta ask where the gold went when the companies that held ef/ww etc… for months cannot put up a competent fight. To be fair, the defender had the advantage, so it wasn’t an even ground to begin with.
And i don;'t think you understand how the economy works. Gold in this game doesn’t have too much inherited value, you have to spend it to get (value) items. So you have to spend it for it to have value. It will “bolster” the economy because it has to be spent, its literally impossible to simply strip a sever when theres like 8 servers left, regardless of how the tax revenue is spent, it has to be spent somewhere and its no longer possible to empty out a sever and go somewhere with gold/mats; there is no where left. Regardless of what you think, gold can only be spent on gearing people at this point and thus it will circulate the server.
I’m sure Maramma will bounce back. It tends to fluctuate, but thankfully up until now it’s been one of the more balanced servers in the game. That streak totally could end, but we usually see people swap factions and try and rebalance the server as things like this happens. So we got some time to see what happens. Yellow got knocked off the map recently but the green/purple divide is actually pretty decent. Hoping to see a resurgence of yellow and the cycle to repeat. I just think Maramma just got a ton of people from Orun and the other servers, mostly companies that couldn’t take on the big super companies from what I’ve heard? Which might be a good thing as it won’t be overly oppressive.
-15k is actually really good and I think are excited to have a really solid challenge. I think it’s healthy honestly to see things swap like this as long as it doesn’t become stagnant. Wouldn’t say there is any massive discrepancy in skill level from what I’ve seen on the OPR, it’s just the normal eb and flow for now at least.
On a side note. Whether or not we need a system to prevent a single company from taking an entire map, she’ll companies, etc. I totally agree with that. Don’t think it should fall on a server to self regulate itself in this way at least, where players have to make conscious decisions to swap factions to promote balance. There should be bonuses for being the smallest faction in terms of territory control. There should be a greater balance on which territories provide the greatest income. Shell companies shouldn’t be possible. Ton of other balancing things that smarter people than me have already suggested on these forums.
Maramma is still a fucking awesome place to be. You seeing a ton of random community made events being hosted, many you see popping up on these forums. It’s populated and have like 10 chest runs a say haha, my company runs the one that has been going on since the beginning of time at 7pm. Knuckles also has one that has run since forever at a later slot. OPRs popping. Had some fun open world PVP the other day, usually when a territory opens for pushing. Plenty of PVE stuff going. I’m sure arenas will be successful. It’s a pretty good time. Hoping it stays that way but I think a large part of it are many of the players that have been there well before this recent massive influx of players.
