Current amber gems are not scaling properly with Focus, and should convert 50% of the damage, even when the tooltip says 50%, the scaling is about 22%, that’s why you don’t see healers running SnS with ambers slotted.
I did a million tests, the damage formula for amber conversion is gimped.
You sure? No healer ever scaled a secondary with focus because the damage was tuned down to avoid damaging healers. Haven’t played healer since 1.4 so maybe I’m out of touch with the builds.
bro please explain wtf you’re trying to do here like do you even play healer your suggestion makes no sense how are you gonna damage people with hammer as a healer
I dont play with LF. Messed around with it a little bit on PTR a couple of times, paired it with VG also and realized how quickly it becomes boring af to only have 2 weapons in your arsenal. 0 variety. Being a healer in NW is a chore at best.
It’s not terrible to expect a working level of damage on a secondary as a healer.
The formula should allow secondaries to do more than simply be status effect sticks. And amber have been tuned down so low that none of the other weapons act as anything but a stun or getaway utility.
But it looks like they may be correcting that with the runeglass. I’m curious to see how that all plays out. I’ll be testing heavily on the PTR!
The most skilled and the least skilled healers in the game all run rapier, outside of a couple aoes that greed for vg. When your trying to win you run whats most effective.
Healer without a rapier is often considered as food. Especially in Arena/ OPR
This is one of the reasons why I created this topic so that healers could have something to fight back. God forbid outdps, but something else to do other than standing in sacred or fleche away. Is it much to ask? Judging by the replies here probably yes.
Heaven forbid the day it might be dangerous to try and fight a healer 1v1. (Sarcasm)
As of right now, it’s like watching a bunch of teenagers stomp on a turtle. Sure, i might not die (sometimes). But there’s nothing i can do about it but run T_T
Its not about the danger, more like not being just the turtle you mentioned.
I am not advocating for healers to be able to outdps people. No way. I just dont want them to be so generic and mundane as they are now.
I played healer roles in other MMOs but I am not even considering doing it here. The design and lack of variety keeps me at arms lenght.
Would have liked a new Focus weapon as of yesterday, but we got to live with what we have. The Decay Tree has slowly been getting some more (long awaited, much needed) adjustments between the notes below about Overflowing Essence, the Empowering Rupture → Refreshing Rupture change, along with the addition of the Rune Glass Gems (DoT on attack makes VG happy).
Void Gauntlet
Essence Rupture: Fixed an issue that caused Overflowing Essence to not trigger if the target died.
Activating Void Blade no longer triggers a sprint delay.
(Void Blade has been bugged to slow on activation since flipping February! Huge Fix.) These changes alone are not going to make VG feel phenomenal, but they will make it function better than before; there is still much to be desired of Voidcaller per ranged (my suggestion is to have it synergize with Tether) along with more damage and larger projectile radius on Baleful Tether and Essence Rupture. Will have to wait and see what the next set of notes offers, if anything new, for VG.
It is a failed concept when you discover that it falls off on weapon swap… LIKE WTF . The ability itself wouldn’t be bad if it persisted after weapon swap and kept Tethered Refresh, while Tethered Focus and Soul Eater are out of place for an ability that does like 20% weapon damage.
Orb of Decay has always been good (needs some fixes still), Essence Rupture is looking good finally, and Baleful Tether is just the benchwarmer. Decay Tree does little damage, offers little support nor survivability in group settings, and its ultimate capstone in Glimpse of the Void is pretty easily outclassed by the Refreshing Frailty and Refreshing Precision passives in the Annhiliation Tree. Feelsbadman…
AGS developers are years away from coding efficiency of that magnitude my man.
And yeah Decay tree is meh. Passives on the left are just too good to pass on 'em. Essence rupture I feel like is more of a PvE thing not worth taking over VB/ORB/PS/Oblivion in most PvP scenarios. Orb of Decay damage is mediocre (im unsure about the healing it actually provides) and the only thing for me that makes it strong is the armor perk it has.
