I always wonder what’s the even purpose/usage of having two characters. I haven’t found any single use apart from you just spend more time on other character but it would better rather you spend that time on your main.
Have anyone used and what’s the purpose… I only used to scout servers
You can control multiple servers at once if you stack the war times correctly! …
Unfortunately this is something that happens. Some players are playing in wars on multiple servers and some of the mega companies will stack their war times in a way to let people keep EF/WW on multiple servers if they wanted.
Once you are 625 in all your PvP and PvE builds, 595-600 on all the crafting you desire, have good gear for all the builds you enjoy playing, the only thing left to do is the social/political Territory based PvP, crafting (daily CDs) and M10s If you have two fully geared players on two different servers, you can do all that doubly by doing it on the other server as well.
Well hopefully answering your question of why people make multiple accounts. Definitely some people fall into this category if that helps explain why some do it.
Plenty of other people enjoy the leveling process or want to check out other servers. We don’t have a restricted class based system here so it’s not like other games where it’s almost integrated into the game itself.
Even if you aren’t completely done with your main, there are reasons. I have friends on multiple servers, so having characters in companies on two servers makes sense to me, depending on if there is a fun company event or something going on on either server.
Also, for “end game” PvP, it is pretty easy to have a character with great two perker armor, but the jump from there to 3 perkers can take a really long time. So it’s not crazy to have one main that you are trying to 3 perk out and one alt that you are content with 2 perkers, just to be more casual with. Two different characters, two different goals.
It’s easy to swap builds, maybe have 1 toon as a healer and the other as dps or something. Some people do it because they enjoy playing in wars so having alts they are able to get into them more often on other servers.
There are actually a million reasons why they don’t, and a lot of it has to do with cheating, collusion, and a host of other nefarious issues.
Now… Why we can’t have two characters in the same World Set, is beyond me… I’m sure there’s some technical reasoning. But for now, that point is moot since there’s only 1 server in each world set at the moment due to population decline.
The reason I made an “alt” or used my other character slot was just to level again. It was fun going to level 30 or 40 but I ended up finishing to 60 and only got my expertise so far to like 540 avg. I don’t play it much as it was mostly to just level again for fun.
I know others have friends on multiple servers so I assume people use their other character to slot to play with friends on one server and another.
Then there are the hard core mega companies who have been killing the game where they have “alts” on one server taking over and their “Mains” on another doing the same thing.
I know in games like WoW having alts is very popular but you also can only play 1 class whereas here you basically play everything. But since there is no mail system here either, having an alt does seem useless, unless for like the reasons I gave (and others I am sure). I know in other mmos people use their Alts to mail stuff to either mule, build up specific professions to make gold and then mail it to your main etc.
But they do, they have to. Players with characters on merged servers now have two charaters on one server.
Who cares?
The game has no sub. What benefit does requiring two accounts do? It makes tracking and proving that nefarious activity harder. Embrace alts and you get much better data on the dev side for understanding those fringe exploits.
The people not exploiting arent harming anyone.
Also people multibox two accounts because they had to buy two to have alts. Having them both on adds to ques. Same account wouldnt cause that problem.
No system is perfect. We all know that. I’m not actually in one camp or the other when it comes to alts… I just want a Fresh Start server. But that would mean I need another slot… so there’s that.
If my WoW history shows a pattern, it’s if given a choice, I’d have 10 characters on each server… and probably be rolling 3 or 4 servers/server types.
