Imagine if you will a dystopian world at its last leg. The ozone has been burned up and temperature are rising at a dramatic margin. Oceans rising and icebergs melt and the end of the world soon to be had. It is the year 2051 and you are in line for the Teslazon Evacuation Shuttle which will ship you to your new home amongst the stars. The research facilities and collaboration of Tesla and Amazon have proven to be humanities saving grace.
You get to the front of the line and they scan your ID. Access denied flashes in red. You look to the armored guard wide eyed and whimper, “what, why”. He grimly looks down at his Appledroid pad and says, “It seems you have been banned from all Amazon Services. please step aside.”
Fear, frustration, sadness wash over you as you recall…that time in 2021 when you used a gold dupe in the game…what was it called…New World…the irony hit you like a boar out of left field while you are mining a node…

Amazon would not put bad behavior on their $40 game ahead of the thousands upon thousands that many people spend annually across Amazon services. That’s just beyond silly.

Please be aware that the community here on Forums is a small percentage of the total community. There are definitely people who are defining their “fun” as causing disruptions, and waiting for AGS to follow-through on their promises. So, there is a certain “volume” of bad community behavior that is (almost?) purposefully pushing the behavioral boundaries.
Writing that, I can say that I have had pretty good in-game behavior. A surprisingly low (at least for me on my server) amount of ninja-looting. Apologies from people when it happened. And other things. Ironically, one of my big complaints of the game is that the bind rules on equipment actually actively discourage cooperation. I would pass along equipment, if I could. I even crafted many UNCOMMON items, dropped them individually, and was pleased to see them “picked up”. UNTIL I LEARNED, that the items simply timed out, and no one could see them. LOL!
Again, do not mistake behavior here as representative of the majority or of in-game behavior.
You do not understand what bans are for. Bans, as all other reactions are aimed at maximizing profits. There is no circumstance where banning 20% of your customers makes financial sense.
The bind rules are quite generous. So no idea what you are talking about.
It’s not quite fair to get banned from Amazon Prime, if you’ve cheated / made a mistake in a game.

This is a very unlogical move to make from a corporate point of view; it will not happen, unless Amazon focusses solely on gaming.
Anything, UNCOMMON (GREEN) or higher cannot be traded once equipped. And QUEST and certain other items are bound on pickup (not just equip). So, if I use a piece of gear that I have outgrown, I cannot pass it along. Ironically, with not allowing ALTs on the same server, it reduces the pass-along and mule problems. But, not being able to pass equipment I have outgrown seems to go against promoting cooperation. HECK! Reduce the cooperation to passing alone within a Faction or even a Company. But, allow sharing if you want to increase cooperation.

Actually, I’ve played a ton. Hell, I played the original UO when it was released.
Bound objects were created in games to prevent exploits that weren’t otherwise easy to avoid. Example: If you got a bunch of items for taking a quest and those items weren’t bound to you, you could trade them to a friend, abandon the quest, restart the quest, and bingo. Rinse and repeat. Example 2: If a legendary items wasn’t bound to a player, a max. level player could farm it, get the item, pass it to an alt or friend at either a lower level OR at the beginning of a sequence where the item would be OP.
I thought one of the intents of New World was to encourage cooperation, especially at both the Faction and Company levels. For all practical purposes, the game forces you into these choices. Company, not so much, but Faction for sure. Within that cooperative model AND based on not allowing alts on the same server, it seems strange to me that New World is actively discouraging cooperation.
I would be surprised if they banned me from my Amazon account for anything ingame. The amount of money I make them over the small purchase of New World…
