Finally got a bis piece and that got me thinking what ratio of gems propels are running. Please break down number and type. Thanks!
Ps. if I die it’s now your fault.
It depends on the class you play. Usually you gem based off what is killing you and what the meta is.
The way a bruiser gems is different to the way a healer gems because the main enemy types each faces would vary. If you’re able to avoid one type then its better to emphasise another area more. Although most like to be careful and just cover all types
As an example being a healer, what kills me is thrust, slash and elemental in that order.
Its hard to be specific with elemental because muskets will use different gems depending the user.
So instead of higher values in nature, void or arcane specifically, i have an even but lower percentage spread over all elemental.
If i was musket i would emphasise thrust and elemental to combat other muskets and ranged because i dont plan on being close enough for melee to be a main concern.
This is something I still haven’t figured out, ime running full onyx, as a tank, by then I was taking too much fire damage in myrk… I was thinking of doing one gem of each type but that’s too spread out. I guess the suggestion above is probably best, just buff for your weaknesses, but even that is a big spread which more weaknesses then you can slot gems, so I don’t think there is really a best setup.
Im not the most experienced SnS tank for pvp even though i don’t see much of that anymore.
But full onyx is not bad seeing as your main enemy types are physical.
However in wars and oprs, mages love to farm damage off heavies on point to get juicy numbers so a safer option would be to have diamonds if not malachites in jewelry just to add some elemental resist instead of none.
3 Malachites would give you just under 6% over all elemental and 3 diamonds just under 2% at the cost of some physical. Correct me if im wrong.
But if you’re saying just fire is giving you a hard time the one ruby would do the same while keeping the rest onyx.
Personally i would consider one aquamarine too because ice storms on point is a guarantee.
It would be better if a tank main could share their experience/setup though.
Is only one ruby enough though? I felt like that would be too weak. But you are right about the ice, that has gotten more prevalent today so I’m gonna have to find a good mix. I don’t think I could afford to change gyms in my gear that often. Haha
Its hard to say without seeing gameplay but one ruby gives about the same as 3 malchites at fire resist while keeping your focus on onyx for physical but malachites will cover all elemental incase a GA comes at you with splits on void or nature for example.
You can see its rather situational and only you will know whats best.
I dont want you to break your bank in the process so its up to you to make the call.
Maybe a war experienced tank could comment.
I jse 8 ruby so i javs 48% fire resist, i can dance with flamethrower in my face xD
I’m light dex for open world pvp. I was running 5 onyx and 3 diamond because GA/WH was owning me but now with the weapon perks mages are doing very well too. I don’t want to lose to ouch physical either. Thanks all for the convo. Maybe I will experiment a little.
