I’m curious. I don’t even go to the trading post anymore. Crafting used to be interesting to me, but now everyone has their “forever gear”, for better or for worse, so that is completely dead. The expeditions, which are run all the time now, actually drop some very nice items, most of which are weapons. So that leaves weaponsmithing out if it wasn’t out already due to it’s incredible barrier to entry.
A couple consumables here and there? Maybe scope it out if you want to try a new spec and don’t have any items for it? Trophies mats went the way of crafting and I don’t think anyone cares about them. PvP luck torpedoed any interest in gathering luck items.
Hell, I don’t even care about daily cooldowns, like asmo, anymore because half the time some company has the taxes jacked to the max that I don’t even feel like buying or crafting anything.
I’m genuinely curious. What do you spend your money on?
mats to feed into the bottomless pit which is crafting. i have 950 hours in the game and i have spent more than the gold cap on crafting and i still don’t have the legendary pvp gear that i want.
I’m more providing my examples as I’m waiting for feb patch to hit live before I really commit back to this game but I was still in my leveling curve so I was making all sorts of things.
I have to admit I wasn’t endgame yet but those costs kept my gold pretty stagnant alone, but then I still even now have buttloads of crafting to do.
This cracks me up. It’s so true! I am 200 armoring and I’d rather buy armor off the tp if I happen to be in the market for some new spec. I am axe / hammer and I bought a heavy chest with con, sundering shockwave, luck, and some other useful perk for 25k. At the time I thought 25k was high, but if you consider the mat cost, conservatively, is 5k per craft then you have to think if you can do better than that in 5 crafts and the answer almost always is a resounding no.
at this moment I exceed 320k I intend to reach 500k (the maximum) before the expansion once I reach that level I will spend 50k per week to raise the manufacturing skills and replenish those 50k (which is more or less what I get for week) and so on until you reach the maximum of skills, reputation in the cities or whatever. currently I usually spend 1 or 2k in materials for the missions of the cities, and thus go up quickly
Nothing because other than a couple log ins with quick log outs, I haven’t played the game in weeks.
When I was playing, other than taxes and repairs, I didn’t spend my gold on anything either. I am a tight wad. I did spend on some regents when raising craft because I needed far more than I could get for myself.
It appears the WW/EF companies are planning to move so I’ve seen certain items rise a lot in price. One of these items I take advantage of and log in every night to buy out the crafting resources of.
I make about 10-50k profit a night not including what I get with 20-50 aptitude chests.
Infinite gamble (gear/jewelery) ,every night i craft for over 300-400k (basically untill materials are still tp) thats how i enjoy playing this game and thats how i sometimes waste a lot of gold.
I wanted to enjoy the game that way, too. As someone mentioned earlier, though, it is absolutely crazy to me how relatively cheap people sell near-BIS items for on the TP. From a math standpoint, you almost always do better just buying gear rather than crafting it. I haven’t checked asmo, etc in about a week but last time I did the prices were coming way down. Maybe it’s more worthwhile to craft stuff now. I hope so.
I am geared out pretty well but I still need armor with resilient and GA/WH perks for PvP. The issue I run into is that I mostly do PvP and dont make a lot of gold. I sometimes see a pair of gloves on the TP for 50k but I cant afford them.
