What do you think are the biggest points of frustration in the New World?

For me biggest point of frustration that the crafting-grind is not rewarding and further progress is only possible by excessive means which in my view are not justified.

Just two examples:
You have spend enormous effort to get Armory to 200 and craft a handfull of gear sets for you and some mates to start into the endgame.

The you realize that no one else is interested, since crafting the real good equipment needs a full set of clothing of the armorer and the related hat is nigh to impossible to gain. That you need crafting trophies which are nigh to impossible to gain. That a couple of attractive crafting mods are not impossible but hard to gain. That the aptitude chest effort to reward ratio is not attractive at all.

As result I stopped my pursuit of being an armorer and you might understand the frustration.

And shall I talk about fishing as the second example …

WEAPONS and ARMOR:
Allow better handling of the perks. You did great job with the timeless shards, but there are still 2 perks left that are not within our power to control. The FUN is in playing the game, doing PvE or PvP with the build I theorycrafted. The fun isn’t in grinding for mats to attempt 999th craft of boots only to once again do not get what I wanted. Your approach to ‘Legendaries should be rare’ does not fiot this game. If you would not have weapon perks and you would have less choices overall and there would be only 1 way to play the game then sure, you can have strongest item in the game drop with 0,00000001% chance. Hoever gets it wins the game. But you have potential for THEORYCRAFTING amazing build. And I can’t play any of them because I do not have gear. And in this game it is gear that dictates the playstyle.

Allow us to change attributes and perks of existing items. Allow us to have fun. System already exists with faction shop items - you can use seal to change attributes. Do that with perks aswell (for all gear not only faction).

What drove me more or less away:

  • General grindy nature of the game. Of course, every MMO has grind but in NW it excessive. I prefer horizontal progression nowadays. Chasing the latest highest GS items over and over again just isn’t cutting it for me anymore.

  • Too much RNG when it comes to itemization. Crafting has been made somewhat better with timeless shards but there is still too much RNG. The amount of items I deconstructed because they were just garbage is enormous.

  • Azoth as a resource. Farming Azoth just to get from A to B annoys me to no end. Let teleportation cost money. Keep Azoth for better crafting results and something that doesn’t influence your day to day business.

  • Dungeon Orbs. I don’t like that system at all. If I want to run a Dungeon I want to be able to do it without timegating and excessive grind.

  • Timegating as a whole.

  • The Territory system. It started out as good but nowadays guilds just abuse the war system, sit on their territories and get richer by the minute. There are servers where guilds just dominate every territory. It’s not fun to play that way.

There is probably more but that is what I could think of right away.

PvE is not the biggest problem.
The absolute, absolute biggest problem is the huge gear and skill wall to participate in mass PvP. I am well geared yet i cannot play in wars on daily basis due to alliances and static teams representing the faction every time. This is even bigger of a problem for lesser geared people.

So i suggest PvP changes:

  • differentiate territories into high and low value
  • allow only 1 war per day per person or make all the wars start at the same time
  • add a weekly company swap cooldown so people cannot swap between companies without any penalty and control territories in shell companies
  • add another OPR with gear cap so people at lower gearscore can also play it as similar level to theirs, maybe even add a lower level OPR? Try to make cross server OPR queue!
  • Add competitive rewards for open world PvP and OPR, currently only wars net any good amounts of money/time ratio. Buff the OPR chests.
  • Make conquering a territory a COMPANY effort instead of a FACTION effort, maybe limit amount of people that can join from other faction and your own faction? It all boils down to the fact that more people want to play this mode but they don’t want to fight the absolute best players every time.

And PvE changes:

  • remove the crafting cost on tuning orbs entirely and remove the gold cost for orbs in faction vendor. This way everyone can have cheap orbs weekly and also (if they farm for it) they can run more if they work for them. I think the time gate here is double, time gate on getting materials and time gate on crafting the orb itself.
  • REMOVE THE TIME GATE ON GYPSUM - please review all the time gated features and leave only a single time gate on each. Currently there is a drop time gate and the gypsum cast time gate. There should be just one time gate.

Add some incentive to completing side quests for each zone. Perhaps some kind of achievement with a meaningful reward, and some GS contribution mechanism along the way. Maybe slivers of gypsum/umbral for each quest completed post 60, and/or some more dungeon orbs? Once you hit 60, I can’t think of a reason to do quests outside of PvP quests for faction/tokens to buy stuff, or PvE quests just for zone faction and inconsequential gold.

For those who like quest arcs, perhaps a few more “story” type quests or weapon quests that take you across a few zones and areas of the map?

We need cross server for arena/bg/dungeon , and also we need population servers change to atleast 6-10k , and if there is problem about gathering material , we need layer system in that server , example people be split in 2-3 layer, so problem about gathering would be solved , something like wow layer system.

Layer system will be solved alot of problem.

And also need better ui for the group/raid so we can invite atleast 50x player in our raid , with out better ui for group/raids that layer system will be broked.

Also need to remove body friendly block , that is annoying…mele get block from many players…even bosses push mele back to range side… Basicly a mele cant get reward from bosses when there is many players… We are not able to do damage most of time cuz of friendly bodyblock , so basicly we dont get reward 99% time from bosses.

Hey.

I’m Westen. Twitch partner and New World fan. Played more than 1k hours now.

And i think this game gona die IF you guys wont fix these 3 problem

  1. LAGGS are super bad and cant play like OPR and WARS.
  2. We got a lot of bugs, with a fix we gona get new bugs.
  3. If we not gona have small scale ranked PvP the rest of the players gona stop playing too. And i think 50k per day is really really low.

Thank you for read my message.

Expertise and the new 600+ nonsens system (i dont realy care how it works with my current 505 level) killed the game for me. Drops are shit. No progess at all without immense boring grinding. Oh yes…lack of content, solo playing is a pain, keyselling and keygaining content for casual player is not funny,

Its a shame to see how it goes down the drain…I really like the setting an graphic…

Oh…btw…fire all shop costume designer…you wont get our money with ugly dresses…

Lack of challenging end game content both in PVP and PVE. Mutator dungeons are just a GS check, the mechanics are literally the exact same just have to have the correct GS.

In PVP there just isn’t any form of rated PVP. This is a huge downfall of new games as hardcore PVPers want to stack themselves up and sort out where they fall in line.

Umbral Shard system absolutely killed the New World vibe that let you do whatever you wanted really to progress. Now you’re forced into dungeons. I don’t know if that damage can be undone, I reckon a lot of players probably left because of this and lost a lot of faith in the team.

Ohh boy oh boy! I could write a book about all the failures and frustration about this game.
We tried our best people. There is something seriously wrong when the community is more dedicated to save the game than the game developers themself.
Its quite obvious that this game was never intended for longevity. Pure lazyness and lack of creativity from start to finish. We are approaching the final stage of this game now, where Amazon will realise that this pile of garbage is not worth their investments.

Short list of frustrations:

  • Quests: 20 year old games have way better quest system than this. In this game you kill 10 mobs or loot chests. Its patethic. Looks like the New World team never played an MMO before, its a shame because they could have learned alot.

  • Content: No new content worth mentioning. They always chose the lazy way out, like gearscore increase and just add some fire on the ground to existing content. Patethic. Its obvious that they never planned to give us any quality content after release. I mean, there is not even a roadmap for this game.

  • Bugs: Insane amount of gamebreaking bugs thats been here since BETA. They are still here and can only be because of lazyness or incompetence. A player in my company got movement bug 5 wars in a row.

-Lag: You all know what Im talking about. This game is a laggy mess. Even wars thats a huge part of your pityful endgame content are sometimes unplayable because of lag.

  • Expertise/WM: We warned you, but you did not listen. Now we have a divided playerbase and increasingly toxic community.

  • Crafting: Insanely grindy with no real reward and extremely frustrating RNG.

  • Server populations: I played on a server for months with a peak playerbase of 50 players at primetime. It took you months to merge servers, now servers are dying again.

  • No world pvp.

  • No OPR or too long OPR queues.

  • Too few dungeons. Mutation grind is not fun.

  • Umbral shards are bullshit.

  • Broken economy.

  • Bad/no-existing communication from the New World team (thats probably working on other projects now). Not listening to any feedback from the playerbase. Giving us PTR servers for absolute no reason. Reported bugs and gamebreaking flaws on PTR gets put into live servers anyway.

  • Timegating.

  • Forced PVE on pvpers. Even the forum mods are biased towards pvpers:(

This game is a cashgrab. AGS sold alot of copies. They grabbed the money and ran. If you look at what we have gotten the last months its clear that this game is not under development. No real content and no bug fixes are the proof of that.
AGS are following the Ubisoft model. They are feeding us with lies and deceit.

I really wanted to play and like this game. The last weeks the game has basically denied me of playing it. Its so bad that Ive actually considered playing the mobile game Lost Ark.

really great thread, I agree with all points.

Though I m sceptical if the devs can turn the game around. Will probably take a year or so if they try and I might check it out again. I thought Mutators would help but instead they kept the cooldown stuff and now we need to pay 5k for a key, for a dungeon we already each ran like 100 times… (btw. i got like 2 Lazarus bows in total in that amount of runs, the loot system in this game is extremely bad i. e. the Corrupted/Ancient/Angry Earth Trophy Upgrade Mats, ofc farming one mob for 140 hours is great content for 1% more damage, am i right?)

That old addage, “companies don’t plan to fail, they fail to plan” seems spot on here. The changes we receive are reactive and shortsighted.

Publishing a roadmap, even completely crap one that shows a troubling direction, would at least give us some context.

Transmog and better fishing! or anyother gathering with a really good mini game to it! I know this may be just me personally though!

where to start ill mainly go with patching code that hasn’t been tested, every patch yall send seem to fix some bug but causes more

There is already topics on reddit reporting replies being censored

Lol my post just got removed. No idea why since I was just explaining how I didnt come here or stay for the pvp and not to assume people didn’t ask for pve content…

They dont like your nickname, Kappa

Expeditions key requirement and the 1-week cooldown to craft: That’s the worst PVE game design I’ve ever seen. I did a lot of DGs and like that content, but that idea prevent me to have fun, so no fun allowed.

THE END game!

The most frustrating thing for me is seeing that New World has absurd potential, but it doesn’t manage to move well in any direction. I have a feeling that the game engine is so bad that every content added or modified in a new patch causes a conflict throughout the game engine and RIDICULOUS bugs happen everywhere.

The most frustrating thing is that New World is a PvE game with PvP lapses. We don’t have any PvP content, despite some team members insisting on a utopian balance between PvP and PvE, when in fact there is no such thing and apparently we have no prediction of when that will happen.

It’s frustrating to come to the forum and watch the videos and come across devs explaining that the next patch will have no content, only bug fixes. I have the feeling that the New World team is so small that there aren’t enough people to cover all the necessary areas of the game, so we get small patches with very little or no content.

Mutations were a GREAT addition to the game, but it’s not content for more than 3 weeks, when all the most dedicated players will be at 625 or very close to that, making all progression easier.

New World needs a way of progression through PvP in the same way that there is through PvE. Umbral Shards should be acquired through PvP as well. Arenas should be PRIORITY content for the next patch for the simple reason that New World doesn’t have enough PvP content to keep PvP players.

Apparently New World is becoming a seasonal game where we log in for a few days after a patch, finish the content and come back again 1 month later for the next patch if it’s good.
