With 1.0.5 dropping tomorrow and assuming it does fix everything it’s supposed to and no other big exploits or bugs come up I think us as players and AGS can look to the future. Most of us are 60 by now and are diving into the ‘end game’ as it were, I wanted to put my feelers out and get everyone’s opinion on how they think it’s going. A few specific talking points or ideas I was hoping to hear about:
How are you enjoying end game? Do you feel fulfilled and are you still going hard on the content? That content being elite/chest farming, Genesis/Lazarus, outpost rush, arenas, maxing trade skills, and wars/invasions.
Have you hit that moment of feeling like you aren’t that motivated to login? If so, why do you think that happened? What would change that for you?
What would you like to see in the future and when do you think they should start dropping the new content we know they have?
To answer my own questions:
I do enjoy the current end game. I like that I don’t have to do anything in particular. The game is currently doing a great job of not forcing you into anything. The only things I feel I have to do are three daily mission quests and elite chests off cooldown. I like that and hope they don’t make players walk a particular path.
I did hit this moment today. After a gathering run and some watermark work I just felt kind of bored and demotivated all of the sudden. I logged off and played something else, that hasn’t happened since launch. I think I felt this way because the watermark grind is kind of long and tedious. I also didn’t feel like I had anything to work towards in terms of competitive play. Some more structured PvP (small scale arena), more outpost rush versions with smaller scale (capture the flag, hold points, ETC), and more PvE content would give me something to be motivated to do better when participating in.
Arena (2v2, 3v3, 5v5), more versions of outpost rush on different maps, classic PvE content you find in other MMOs (difficult dungeon versions, raids!, world bosses). I do enjoy having this all tied to some type of numerical system. IE, arena rating, leaderboards, etc.
These are my thoughts. I know it’s a lot and would take a long time to develop. I do love the game so far and hope to see it succeed! Thanks for all the work AGS.
Investigate and resolve the input latency issue experienced by a growing number of people.
Almost daily logins from me until this week. I lost the will to play when I rubberbanded into some barrels under a staircase while fighting a min 30lvls lower than me and ultimately died because the lag wouldn’t let me escape. This is a nightly occurance for me and others with strong internet connects and have followed all troubleshooting guides.
Outside of that, I agree smaller scale pvp, maybe level synced to 30 so people can get pvp experience before their first war. Maybe the upcoming pvp flag changes will help this too, but currently it’s a ghost town on my server when it comes to world pvp.
Not much to say on end game… the input latency prevents me from doing anything outside of trying to gather and even that is questionable for my blood pressure.
More quality of life stuff, faster foot travel, make camp sites more useful, even just increasing respawn radius or something… the number of times Im <5m out of range is too damn high.
Reduce the amount of useless gear drops. Heavy dex focus with a warhammer perk? Get that junk out of the system, it’s just a headache to deal with on every level.
Transmogrification… my lvl 40 farmed elite weapons look way cooler than most things I’m finding at 60.
Oh and more enemies… it crushes my heart every time I find a new boss and it’s just a simon pegg reskin with a new ability. Hard to believe I’m fighting basically the same boss from the first dungeon in alpha testing 2 years later
Nice inputs! I haven’t experienced any latency or rubber-banding until about a day or two ago. I’ve been lucky for the most part. It seems for me it’s limited to high traffic times of day and it doesn’t happen more than a few times per day. Hope it doesn’t continue for you and gets resolved.
There is more I want to do than I have time for! Healthy spot to be in.
I was playing a few hours daily, reduced it to a few hours every other day. I think I went too hard in the paint and burned myself out, but the game was just really captivating so . Sometimes I actually feel overwhelmed with the number of options and end up logging off.
Would like to experience more PvE dungeon content, right now the costs are too prohibitive and the rewards are outweighed by other content. Changes like the recent patch note on reducing cost to dungeons is well received, please continue to watch this and adjust as necessary. A general pass on balance for the bosses would be nice, some feel like they have too much hp so the fight gets boring, or certain tactics negate mechanics entirely (sit under lazarus giant and just spam click).
A daily or weekly dungeon quest that provides the entry for free! Would be great to do lvl 60 version of amrine, depths, and dynasty so there is more variety in the dungeons! The quest could have additional factors involved, like increased reward based on clear time, special requirements (kill this boss without killing more than X mobs that they spawn, kill this boss with no one getting hit by X mechanic), corrupted damage increased and present through the entire dungeon, etc…
Your question on improvements got me a bit flustered Adding some more
General UI/UX for a lot of things need to be cleaned up, some personal annoyances:
Float my pinned quests to the top of my journal
Let me filter/organize quests in journal more ways, by region, level, drag and drop for manual organization, etc.
More than 6 quests pinned on my hud
UI overlap when there is more than one quest in an area makes it difficult to click them to track
Multiple town boards quests to collect a specific item all get marked as complete even if you only have enough for one of them (makes it confusing when I want to do them all)
Few randoms:
More keybind options - I haven’t figured out how to do a hold or button combo for custom keybinds
Encounter music often stops after getting knocked down and revived, which massively reduces immersion (The music is amazing, love the soundtrack and variety of sound btw)
Addons would be great, would love to contribute back into the community and game to help development in parallel.
Your comments kind of inspired me to bring up the question of external addons. I would love to see this happen. So many creative addon developers solve issues in game essentially at zero financial cost to AGS. Put down addons as something I would love to see incorporated!
