What has happened to new world?

Overall question still is, why is this still happening to NewWorld?

By now the Devs should have learned from their mistakes but it doesn’t seem like that’s the case.

Instead of applying fixes to the things that really destroy the overall gameplay, a new weapon and dungeon is being implemented.

Why is more Content being implemented when the overall gameplay loop is just lacking.

Because they have to work with the engine they have.
The content creators, the ones doing new areas and weapons etc. are not qualified to fix the technical issues with the engine.
So they just use what they have. Fixing the engine is a different department.
When they succeed the problems in all existing content are solved too. So this is not a waste of time to add content now. Actually it is a good idea.

Hard disagree on that one. Adding a new fps melting/AOE blasting weapon while dsync/lag issues persist is gonna break the game even more.

I mean they went back from the 40v40 wars idea (big hint that they literally are unable to “just fix” warlag/dsync in general, possibly due to the engine problems they still refuse to talk about), so can you even imagine 50v50 wars with grav well, ice shower AND BB spam?

Might be the fact that last patch somehow managed to be the worst one (again), but I’m predicting the next patch is gonna be a new low of epic proportions. Communication got somehow worse as well and AGS’s main focus has been on Lost Ark since launch anyways.

They just gonna force their new “content” on us like before (Gearscore Grind, Mutations) and it’ll most likely push away the last remaining players, similarly to the mutations patch. Their february bugs, bots and balance mission was a fail of epic proportions. We’re at March 18th and they didn’t even address how their “fix” of the input buffering/skill queue issues were never fixed in the first place. So yeah, next patch (probably on the 31st) is something most sane people struggle to look forward to.

I don’t know man. I still enjoy the game.
And I can not agree that it gets worse every patch.
When the game released I played a lot of wars and the lag was so bad, it was basically a slideshow. Its heaps better nowadays.

Same with OPR.

Don’t get me wrong, I am well aware that the engine cant handle the game. But to say they do not care is not true either. I am sure they are constantly working on the engine. It just takes a lot of time.

Blunderbuss will not make it worse. For each BB AOE we will have one less icestorm or Grav Well. It will stay the same. Maybe even get better. The BB might not put such heavy load on the engine as Ice.

I agree with this to an extent, but from the Feb patch they just did… the sword and shield feels AWFUL now. Whatever they did needs to be completely reverted. I still love the game and just deal with it and hope that it will be resolved as soon as possible, but regardless of what happens I’ll be here playing lol.

You know BB + IG/VG/GA will be the next Meta. I am sick of it that I can already tell it’s gonna be like this. How can you implement a Weapon that’s so damn strong that it will 100% dominate most of the Combat in the future???
This shit is rediculous… And then they go and reduce some of its Abilities instead of Tweaking the Abilities Viableness…
Eg. Mortar kneel down to shoot like shooterstance.
Eg. Singles Shot Left click with higher damage and spread (more pellets) but Reload times as high as Musket.

I really don’t understand some of their changes and why they are applying them.

Well new stuff must always be OP so that everyone wants to play it. And lure lost players back.
Void Gauntlet still to this day does several times more damage than any other weapon in the game.
They need to create some hype I guess.

Shit like this is literally destroying the overall Gameplay situation.

If they would have the Balancing in order with the Current Weapons and they gave the implementation of a New OP Weapon some proper thought and the repercussions it might have, I honestly would not mind as much.

But still. The main problem is that the Basic Combat system is not properly in Order to even think about adding new stuff.

Man. This might be an unpopular opinion but if it weren’t for the lag/desync, then combat would be much better now.

Yes, the game ran smoother back then. The combat was also kind of ass. (Can not believe that people still try to say that it was souls like by the way???)

3 weapons was wild

The skill cooldowns for each weapon were linked

I’m sure that people who complain about being rooted would love being hit stunned (staggered) for 3 or 4 seconds.

Life. Staff. Teleport.

Musket had literal wall hacks.

Imagine if the preview event was the release, we would’ve all gotten bored before the first month was up.

This thread makes me sad. Imagine if they kept their vision and just refined systems over that last year of development instead of going monkey-mode and throwing their poop everywhere. Oh well. Can’t blame them for following the money–especially because MMO culture is basically game hopping.

What could have been.

Of course the Combat would be better without the Performance Issues, there is no point in arguing that. The problem that you don’t seem to recognize though is that the Removal of certain Key aspects of Combat and the Massive Changes to fix the problems, that arose from that Removal, are literally causing the Issues we have today.

It’s not about, would people be happy with Stagger back in the game or would people be happy with higher Cooldowns, it’s about do you want the Game to work and flourish with Challenging and Fun Combat or do you want it to be just the same like everything else on the markets even though it’s obviously is not good at doing/being that.

It’s already not like anything else on the market though?

It’s definitely not the best thing but it’s different.

Being different does not mean good.

It’s got good looks, but no personality.
Without personality it just becomes boring, it’s exactly the same as Dating. :joy:

The only thing that this is causing, is people, taking the next better option once it comes along.
WoW-> ESO → Update WoW-> FFXIV → Update ESO → Update WoW → Relaunch FFXIV…
(Just an example, don’t kill me for posting this)

And so on. I don’t see this being benefitting for one single game in any way. You need a Game that stands out of the Crowd, caters to a loyal Fan base and got the Personality and Gameplay to bind them. For to long everything on the MMO Market has been pretty much the same.

And that’s where People like me get really mad. NewWorld in Alpha was exactly that, it stood out of the crowd, catered to a loyal Playerbase and the Performance was good and overall Gameplay Loop was fun. I hoped for this game to be my first MMO that I could call home and take a long time investment of my time and money in, but today I just feel Disappointment.

You can’t really make a close range weapon with the reload time of musket.

Of course you can, it allways comes down to balancing.

High Reload Time → More Pellets?
More Pellets → More Spread?

The closer you are to target the harder it can hit, the downside would be, that you have to reload out of the fight. Not to mention, why does the BB have Dual/Tripleshot with a Pumpgun animation in the first place even though it’s a Single Barrel Weapon? I get we don’t have to be 100% realistic in a game, but to me this just feels completely off.

Of course we can go on discussing the BB and possible changes, but it might make more sense to change the Thread for that.

Doesn’t work for me. I wouldn’t want to sit in the middle of the fight, blow off one shot, then pick my nose while I wait for reload.

There was no gameplay loop. It was just hit max level then fight. Which is fine, but that’s all it was.

Yeah it’s about fighting, but you know, fighting was so much more, Combat had actual depth and you had to master it.

Learn to fight, improve yourself by reading the Enemy, aswell as make the right decisions on to when to commit to Action and which, to punish the Enemy for his Mistakes.

And that’s just fighting, yes.

I agree that more Content and overall Gameplay had to be added, but for those that really enjoy Combat this alone was like a dream.

I’m not saying that the game was perfect and complete. I’m saying they had a damn good foundation to build a Skyscraper on top, but whilst building it they ripped the foundation out. Kinda counter productive, if you ask me, especially when you look at today’s state of NewWorld and what it could have been.

Don’t know about the Alpha version but wars at launch were a lag fiesta, literally slideshows. Today is way better (but still bad tho).
