What I believe AGS needs to focus on in the short-term to keep the game fun for the people still playing

  • Server merges. These need to come as soon as possible. The game is so much more fun with more people online at the same time. I’m not sure how AGS plans to handle things if/when the populations start to rise again (sine the servers would become way too overpopulated and have crazy queues). I’m also not sure if they have the technical capability to merge servers from different world sets. But for now we really need server merges so that we can actually play the game it was intended to be played and feel like the world is ‘alive’ again.
  • Cross-server OPR. I wish it was cross-server from the start. There are many people who don’t like OPR and fair enough. There are some issues, but there always will be in a game that requires constant balancing. This is still a great way for us to experience PvP in this game. The planned changes to OPR rewards / scoring is definitely a step in the right direction, but the players need to actually be able to play OPR for it to matter. I’d love to be able to queue for OPR with some friends and be able to find a match at any hour. I’d love to be able to test my skill against people from other servers. Cross-server OPR would be amazing for the players still logging in and looking for something to do.
  • More dungeon orbs. I don’t completely disagree with AGS’s attempts to design their expedition system differently, but at this point it feels like a failed experiment. Players just want to play. Remove the limit to the number of orbs we can craft. Maybe make the crafting cost double, remove the limit, and increase the number we can buy from the faction shop each week. So we have a finite number of ‘cheap’ orbs, but an unlimited number of orbs that we can craft if we want.
  • Daily global resets. I know it’s been said that this is something being worked on, but it needs to be prioritized. It’s super annoying having to keep track of all these different timers. It’s also really annoying to either have to plan my day around those timers or accept that I’m not going to do things in-game for that day. It makes logging on more confusing and less enticing. Just make everything that is on a “daily” timer reset at 5am server. Make everything that is on a “weekly” timer reset at 5am server Tuesday morning.
  • PvP Arenas. I know this is in the works, but it also needs to be prioritized. For most of the players who still login regularly, this is the number one thing they are waiting for.

On the topic of dungeon orbs, I think that mutated orbs should work a lot more like WoW’s M+. Give every player a level 1 orb to start the week (no matter what their previous highest dungeon was). Have that orb upgrade (gold), stay the same (silver), or downgrade (bronze / unfinished) based on how well you do in the run that your orb was used on. This will allow players to run the dungeons as much as they want, but they need to earn the higher levels each week. This will also provide player with incentive to get on and run the dungeons.

This is just an idea and I’m sure someone can come up with a better idea or tweak mine to be better. But the theme of my post is basically that players should be able to play.

I completely agree. The game really limits what you can do and when you want to do it, this is my only frustration with it. I logged on today, saw I had absolutely nothing to do. No orbs, not enough people for OPR, missed the war because of work. So I just signed off.

It almost feels like we don’t even need new content to keep people interested. People are just not satisfied with our current content because you can’t always do it when you feel like it.

I agree with you, i guess that before adding short new contents, they need to focus capacity into bug fix. Because by now its too dangerous to add contents I think.

You cant even make a proper attack without being teleported 5m behind due to desyncs, do wars due to many bugs in…

Now even introducing news skins make server crash…

PvP Arenas should be prioritized. Bringing mutators now is great, but that also shows “what’s the most important priority” and “what is the content that we have ready”. I think it requires some re-prioritization to put the pvp focus back on track (and yes, that also includes solving the desync issue >_<)

I agree, the bugs are obviously a high priority as well and it’s good to see the changes that have already been implemented in the PTR.

I tried to list some things that (I think, probably naively) wouldn’t be too difficult to get pushed out to us in the near future.

Server merges have already been done plenty of times and almost every server is in desperate need of a merge.

Cross server OPR is something that should have been in the backs of their mind while implementing OPR originally so I’d hope that they built it with that in mind. If they did, it shouldn’t be too difficult to make that change.

Giving us more access to dungeon orbs is as simple as changing 3 numbers in their codebase (orb crafting limits for gen/laz/mutators). They can then take their time designing and implementing a more thoughtful way to handle dungeon orbs going forward.

Daily global resets is something that the community has been asking for for months so how much longer can that possibly take?

PvP arenas are basically what this game was built for. How do we not have them already?

I didn’t make this thread to be critical of AGS. I’m just hoping that maybe we can help the devs see that there are some low-hanging fruits that they could take advantage of to help the active players stay active and interested. I log on way too often only to think “I would love to play OPR, but there aren’t enough players to pop a queue. I’d love to play some arenas, but those don’t exist yet. I wouldn’t mind doing a dungeon, but I don’t have any orbs left.” and then just log off.

I really hope cross-server OPR is coming eventually. Does anybody know if they’ve ever even mentioned it in any official capacity?
