What if crafting was made completely deterministic

I would hate this. I love crafting RNG (just not as much as we have now) Edit** Maybe I would love this because I could make some bomb ass PvE sets for each mob type.

BUT

This is a PvP game. No PvPer wants to spend 60 hours a week farming gold just to buy 1 item for 1 build that will be somehow made irrelevant 2 months later when AGS changes perks/hybid attributes.

SO

What if there was a direct line for gear progression.

Lets say I want a 600gs Keen/Ref Move/Thwarting strikes Great axe.
This requires 20 Ironwood Sap, 20 keen claws, and 20 weaponsmith charms(RM), lots of azoth, Voidbent Ingot/s, Asmo/runic/phoenix etc.

So now what do players do? They go out and they spend a day/week farming ironwood trees for sap, they do chest runs in Ebonscale to get the RM mod, they go out and hunt mobs for keen claws. Then they craft the exact item they want for their build.

How this could spice up PvE. New crafting mods can be added to dungeon bosses. So players want to go do grind certain dungeons to get a specific mod to make the weapon they want.

Or if everyone really wants RNG. Make items roll 600 with 3 perks each perk rolls tiers. Like Path of exile.

that’s why gold sellers are everywhere

This is why gold selling/buying is a huge thing right now…

Just make it Bind on Craft / on Pickup and it would work great.
No loophole to buy RMT and buy it off the Trading Post.

I still prefer Retrofitting as you can also tweak an existing item toward max and change the Perks.

I would have referred a system where perks are granted by tokens that themselves need to be crafted by different specialisations, and gear is then customisable depending on the mods you install. Much like Gemstones. Gear items would have varying amounts of slots, and the slots themselves can have different tiers, limiting what can be installed.

This way, you can modify your gear over time, either in appearance, attributes, or perks, by changing the installed mods/tokens/gems.
