Methinks some sweaties are mad they couldn’t 1v1 a healer and kill quickly, lmao.
To be honest, Life Staff at the moment is again from AGS just poor game design.
Now adays you only use single target heals for Expeditions, and Divine Embrace is not the one prefered.
Alot of this comes from Divine Embrace having a Cast Time, and on top of that the Cast Time adds an additional animation AFTER the cast time (So the Cast time it self makes zero sense.).
Making basicly a Flash Heal, into a long casting tiny tiny tiny heal with EXTREMLY situational talents.
To me a Healer should be able to heal skillfully, having to think before healing, and not just running a full AoE build smashing their heads into the keyboard to heal their group.
I myself played as a healer for an eternity in WoW on both semi-pro levels and amateur levels.
I found the healing in WoW to be forgiving and fun, in New World i can’t stand it.
It feels like punshing myself in the face.
You become a worthless DPS, basicly killing everything 90% slower than everyone else.
You are forced into a meta spec when playing PvP and another Meta Spec when playing PvE, if not you’re close to worthless.
There is no good off specc for DPSing.
There are NO other Focuz main weapons ingame to use on the side, the best alternative is a mana pot weapon on the side with decent heals.
I can not for the life of me recommend anyone to heal ingame if they wanna have fun in any aspect of the game.
Also just yet another MMO that shows zero love for Tanks and Healers is just spitefull.
AGS Just showing time and time and again the lack of research done before entering the MMO scene.
The answer to all of your questions has to do with pvp and pve not being separate.
This game like many other games failed when they didn’t make pvp gear/weapons/abilities different than those of pve.
Separate the two and then they can nerf/buff to their hearts content while not affecting the other.
You forgot “Die when someone points at them” for the extremists.
Not only that it heals for less than lights embrace since lights embrace gets better scaling.
I don’t think there’s room for that in the game because we can only slot 3 abilities.
-
They would have to remove the cooldown reduction on light attacks and
-
make single target more viable
-
Increase mana cost on AoE HoTs
-
Fix our targeting system
-
Add in the ability to see every person in our groups/wars
Players would legit have to get use to dying very fast because damage ability AoE spam stacks. The rate at which people want healing you’d never be able to keep anyone alive without going out of mana in 15 seconds.
Same, I dislike healing in this game for the fact that I don’t have options or tools to deal with different scenarios. I just throw down heal auras and light click spam with some heavies for stacking buffs. Thing is WoW healing wouldn’t work here either because in WoW healers have the agency to self peel to a degree and can outheal 1 damage dealer unless the gear gap was vast. On equal terms a healer can stall out of a dps.
People on this game really hate that.
By who standard they failed?
If we are going off what we think I think in any game with pvp where healers can’t heal themselves effectively will fail. No one would play them because why would you.
Do you not see the conflict between those 2 statements?
How do you expect them to be able to heal the team if they are not able to heal themselves and instead just fall over?
What a completely absurd idea.
Healers should not be immortal but neither should they heal themselves less than they heal anyone else.
When will the devs learn that to balance a game successfully you have to treat pve and pvp differently.
In an open world pvp game like this make it so each skill does damage/healing differently when flagged for pvp.
Like I said. Not a single role can do their role when their dead. No roles are special. So all roles deserve the same suvivability
Hmm… Can you clarify what you exactly mean with „survivability“? Isn’t the Tanks whole role about survivability and you want the Tanks whole role reason (survivability) to be the same like a DD? Or do you mean how a role can heal and upkeep himself? That would be something else but at the same time it would be kinda weird to not be able to heal himself while playing healer and to only be able to use potions. Imagine the tank not being able to block attacks with his shield, that would be the same that you want from healers.
To treat PvE and PvP differently and most importantly to Nerf / buff things not on both sides would be a good way to not destroy either PvE or PvP when nerfing something for just one thing in mind. Like nerfing healing for PvP would be easier done than just nerfing the whole class for PvE too because you need to watch out for that too if the whole content is still working.
As in healer should not be able to force a stalemate by keeping himself alive against 1-3 DDs
But wouldn’t you say it’s fair? I mean taking Void Gauntlet out of this, the healer can’t damage them enough to outdamage the heal potions or the hp regeneration of the DDs. How would you like to see this situation? The healer should only be able to keep himself up while fighting against just one DD? Or not even that? How would you like the thought about giving the heal a HUGE damage buff with the LifeStaff then? Lets say, 2-3k with a light attack against a heavy armor DD with a full focus build? You can’t just take away the healing and not give something back, right?
What benefit should a healer have when going for a full focus build? Maybe even a glasshealer full focus build? If it’s not very strong heals, then very strong life staff damage?
No lol. I like where the life staff is at now. It’s currently in a good place of balance between the ability to self heal and have a secondary damage dealer. Only thing I would say, is to not allow them to wear heavy armor. It’s due to heavy armor that they can force stalemates of up to 4 DDs. Without that, they can be killed just like all can
Ok, now I understand you haha and I totally support that a healer should not be able to wear heavy armor and be able to have high heals / selfheal and to be able to easily sustain with that. At the same time I can see the same situation for DDs and I hope in the future they will nerf heavy armor for DDs too, because to be able to dish out huge damage AND to be able to wear heavy armor and be tanky is not a good thing too.
EXACTLY heavy armor needs to be reserved solely for tanks. You shouldn’t be able to be a DD AND heave the damage mitigation of a tank. Your basically a juggernaut from COD
Ahh yes the infamous final fantasy 14.
I’m well aware even in PvE healers are expected to do decent damage.
I guess you’re going to list Rift healers Chloro or harbinger.
I have an issue with the targeting mechanics for some of the abilities. In large group settings, its hard to land Lights Embrace to heal somebody outside my group. Only the AoE heals seem useful but that pretty much leaves lots of skills hanging.
FF14 I never really fell in love with. Now Rift on the other hand was fun to play a healer back in the day. I never really liked Chloro or Harbinger but I played all the Warden, Purifier and Inquisitor vanilla’s and hybrids. When the Justicar hybrids were at their strongest we could be top 3 in dps as well as keeping everyone alive in a raid.
I enjoyed FF14 and rift.
I played a Chloro and harbinger and it was a lot of fun to play a “mage” that specializes in healing but does respectable damage.
Back when I played harbinger if you wasn’t topping charts your rotation was off or your spec. I enjoyed number crunching.
I’d love to see them removing Life Staff and replacing healing with some kind of First Aid profession.
How it would work - FA expert can produce and apply bandages. Bandages cannot be applied in combat, so if you need healing, you have to retreat to FA expert to be healed, while your teammates are trying to protect both of you. Surely, Amazon Games will have to rebalance a lot to implement something like this, but that could make combat a bit more fun than standing in healing pool and trying “outdps” you opponent (who is also standing in healing pool).
Not gonna happen, i know.
