What is considered a reasonable amount of damage that ranged weapons should be able to do?

Hello!

Curious what peoples thoughts are on how much damage ranged weapons should be able to perform. I am not even advocating for a nerf to ranged weapons I am just curious what peoples thoughts are. As a melee user that runs 450 attribute points dedicated to damage stats (similar to muskets) I do not do as much damage in one hit as people who sit at ranged do who also dedicate less stats toward damage. That seems odd to me.

Is this amount of damage considered reasonable? The bow user who shot me had 150 con and one stack of mortal empowerment.:

That clip leaves little to go on. What were the buffs of the attacker, his stats, gems, perks. Was it a charged shot, a reg one. Was it a built stacked for max damaged on first hit or something balanced?

Same with the guy being shot? Light armor and 8k health, seems like a squishy target to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if a charged heavy on a GS for example, landed something similar.

Bow is build around passive. First time will hit you like a truck but you probably have 10-15s before any other empower can be activated or extra-bonus. With the nerf of arrow hitbox it should also help

Hmm good points; although, I do think it is probably a lot easier to avoid getting hit by a charged heavy from a Greatsword, also the Greatsword user is at a much bigger risk.

I am the person being hit in the clip and yes I am very squishy; however, I do have 30% thrust resistance.

I am not sure what the attackers buffs were but I do know he had 1 stack of mortal empowerment.

You play an assassin build (5-25 con right ) hatch / sns. What you thought about defy death ? Stop trying to nerf people that counter your build. Saying that your Hatchet doesn’t do 3k HA ? Stop trolling pls. BOW player have 100 con but he doesn’t split attribute like you do he is full DEX, you probabaly split stats STR-DEX for your DPS

Honestly, 4k on a light target doesn’t sound too crazy to me if they took all the opening shot perks. 3-4 is something you see quite often from a variety of weapons when hitting light since the patch(feels like everything is hitting more?).

And yes, Melee heavy hits are easier to avoid when fighting then a blindshot (Granted some tracking do get crazy). But it’s not like heavy shots don’t have to account for multiple factors as well. Both have pros and cons.

I am not asking for nerfs I am genuinely curious what the majority of people think ranged weapon damage should do. In the clip I am 50 con, I just think it is kind of funny that I have more attributes dedicated to damage yet I don’t have a single button that would hit for 4600+ against someone except for an extreme scenarios where they are rended; however, I have no debuffs on me. Thanks for your feedback though!

You have an invincible « no-button » skill though lol. There is alrdy bunch of Bows topic on the forum no need for one more asking for nerf even if bow getting nerfed in PTR if you didn’t notice

And you run 5x resil or less ? Probably just a nasty crit

5x resil always

I asked him,
He was 150 con, 350 dex. Using an augmented arboreal gem. It was a Heavy shot.

youre asking a loaded question. Also known as “jaqing off” “just asking questions”.

Look at it from a percentage of health perspective.

If you are a melee in medium armor, you will likely do more damage as a percentage of health to the dex player than vice a versa.

zero. ranged should only be able to ‘pull’ a target and add some debuffs.

Thanks for the feedback!
