What is driving players away?

No grind? So there’s a grind to level 60… and then a gear score grind… then a grind to get gear repeating the same dungeons over and over… then if you really want the best gear, you have to do the ultimate grind which is crafting that can costs you millions in gold, the only way you can get this gold is repeating these dungeons over and over. And if you want to change builds you get to start over again.

Actually I think many legit players don’t rage quit at New World mechanics, except probably crafting-gambling and the ludicrous amount of materials. The problem is they end up comparing themselves against cheaters and exploiters.

You forgot that PvPers like to cheat first with aimbots, exploits, or shortcutting with duped goods or botted goods or RMT.
Then they ruin everything for everyone else.
That causes a lot of people to rage quit when AGS can’t or wont catch enough botters, exploiters, and cheaters.

We saw this at launch during the IG war exploits. Whole companies quit at all the exploitation to win wars.

AGS simply hasn’t the competence to manage their game. Shortly after FSS launched, the economies looked like Legacy servers and there was yet another dupe exploit. It’s just a continual farce that New World is such as cheater’s paradise.

Which was accurately predicted by veterans of the game since the code base for FSS and Legacy is exactly the same.

Nothing different between FSS and Legacy could have happened.

Many people from Legacy played FSS for the new leveling experience, which was great, and then went back to Legacy. That’s what I did. This was also predicted accurately.

The state of FSS is only a surprise to those with over-hyped expectations of a fresh and pure server experience that never could have occurred.

AGS should never have done FSS. For those that say I never criticize AGS, please note the criticism.

stop it w this negativity, AGS made an exciting time for many players by offering a fresh start experience it created the single largest peak the game has had in over 9 mos and generated untold amounts of store sales, and prime subs.

the failed to capitalize w a property server merger strategy yet again but to their credit their server rollout strategy was clearly improved upon from the brimstone update a month prior.

now maybe AGS will get it right when they provide fresher fresh start servers to celebrate the summer update w raid addition and completion of the full 1-60 experience.

be more positive Penfold you disappoint me

The number of broken things. Now it’s starting to add up and no aspect of the game is fun anymore

LOL! Noted! But look at you at least seeing the other side of the argument and expressin it well.

And i can agree with what you said.

FSS are a hot button but at this point they matter not.

  1. Holiday events are awful
  2. Skins are awful
  3. Most zones are pretty empty and devoid of content to come back to.
  4. No boss fights worth talking about, that’s something I miss from FFXIV, actual boss fights that make you go “Whoa…”
  5. So many missing basic features

Nothing to do but fight over 3 white circles in wars.

Truly masterful content.

Hardest PvE content only really requires Ward + Elemental resist gems to not get one shot.

Archer + Musket mobs are tanky as hell because AGS can’t be bothered to position them on sniper platforms to I don’t know… one shot 5 CON Hatchet glass cannons in M10’s?

Every trash mob is a bullet sponge in M10’s because 3 melees can cleave 4500% weapon damage every few seconds.

Otherwise it’s just some additional boss gimmicks that feature elemental damage (i.e. fire pools / void bombs / anti-ranged nature root trap / stand in ice circle)

Ice circle gimmick is insufferable when you beat on the giant corrupted Spriggan in Tempest Heart.

Or just swap out an amulet for mutations up to 8

I mean there’s that too. Once you get ward and like 30% elemental (with Orb of Protection + Fort Sacred Ground to cap out) M10 becomes trivial, something akin to a tankier version of a normal dungeon.

100%

not so much grind imo. Grind to 60 it’s not even grind, it’s simple leveling. MMO is not all about grind, but if the game didn’t have any of what you’ve just said, then it would be a moba, not mmo.

You realize you can force expertise bumps with the crafter orange items? He could get 3-4 bumps. Day from that alone with just the everyday presents collected. No skills are required past 1 armoring and 1 weaponsmithing.

Optimization for me primarily. (PC is a year new, internet is fine, but I get animation locks, non responsive dodges, and all sorts of bs.)
Lack of polish, and quality of life. (UI)
Nothing interesting to shoot for like a great cosmetic that stands out.
Not enough statistics (everything from ore mined, to players killed)
Bots (good income for ags, seeing as not many people buy from the store)

About it. I still play though.

Would like to see a wvw map like guild wars 2 has. Easily the funnest time I had in an mmo. Knowing this company though, it would take 15 years minimum to implement it.

Not really interested in any of the upcoming mmo tbh. Huge diablo player, 40k+ hours(D2). Diablo 4 probably lost ark clone, meh. :slightly_smiling_face:

Holiday over, get to work madge. Kap

I have been playing this game for close to 3.5k hours on 6 different servers. Many people I played with or helped quit. For some of them, I know exactly why, but on some I can only speculate. I’ll start off with the new/returning players that I helped out/met. Majority of them quit shortly after reaching level 60. The Gear Score/Expertise grind from 500-625 is a real pain for many if they don’t have a consistent group to play with or people willing to help them out. Now for many veteran players who quit, it’s simple: Lack of engaging endgame content. There just isn’t much and many have done M10s plenty times. All there really is for PvE endgame are the few dungeons. Since even M10s drop only junk loot (mostly being purples), many don’t want to invest thousands into changing gems for mutated dungeons anymore each week. The hardest PvE endgame activity should feel at least somewhat rewarding. You only get 1k coins for finishing an M10, which is the same amount you get for finishing a regular dungeon. You need much more preaparation and have to invest much more into an M10 than for a regular dungeon. Since the recent loot drop nerfs for mutated dungeons a lot of people simply quit. Most of the endgame PvE players are sitting on plenty Umbral Shards and you still can’t do anything with them if you have upgraded all your gear already. Another HUGE factor why many quit is, it became MUCH harder to make money/coins in the game nowadays with 99% of the items in the game being nearly nothing worth. Scarab has killed gear selling as well for the most part. Only gear that still sells is ward, bane, shirking fortifying, and resilient. They made all the gear that does not have those perks completely useless. There is much more grind required to make any coin in this game nowadays.

TLDR: Leveling GS/Expertise isn’t fun. The game has become much grindier with nearly all items being barely anything worth. Lack of endgame content - people are burnt out on doing the same few dungeons that are no longer worth doing since the loot drop nerfs.

most people in my company quit because of no competition.
They dominated 3v3’s, OPR’s and wars with their stacks, and after 1-2 months it became so boring for them they transferred to different servers or just stopped playing.
They still warlog, but dont contribute to the peak population.
PVP endgame content gets stale very fast for organized group pvp.
For solo fights, it still has its charm as long as you keep playing vs new builds.

Even the PVER’s i knew, got bored off of PVE. Moved to PVP and couldn’t hack it. Also some people got IRL responsibilities so they stopped dedicating time to the game. There are lots of reasons people quit.

Maybe try queuing solo for some added challenge instead of with stacked premades.

So don’t play with the people you like to make the game more fun?

I actually prefer to play against my friends. We all just queue solo and see what happens. Premade five-man squads get boring almost immediately.
