As many of you have noticed, the New World Team has put up a new survey that can be found on the login screen , and I highly encourage everyone to take the survey and answer the questions to the best of their ability.
If you have already taken the survey, you may recall the last question of the survey is the title of this post:
What is the Single Biggest Issue the New World Team could do to Improve Your Personal Experience in game?
Personally, I had some difficulty answering this question as I think there are a number of “big issues” that need to be addressed. In the end I went with “Gear Sets & Inventory Management” as this is the one aspect that affects me the most from a personal standpoint as I primarily like to craft and gather.
However, that has got me wondering - how is everyone else answering this question?
I would love to hear your thoughts on what you believe to be the single biggest issue and how it affects your personal experience of the game.
A hard reset of the game. Right now it’s basically been one long beta-test. Every update or patch breaks something new and players are expected to tow the line because of it. The game is broken and many features have been broken since day 1.
Take a page out of FFXIV’s book and re-launch with the expansion already in place. Give players who have been playing a bonus of some kind: XP/Gold/Pre-Set gear Boxes.
A hard reset would clear up all duped items that were not removed, all items crafted most recently that were not removed and all gold that bots have been farming for the last year to sell to players who want to take shortcuts.
For me i asked them to take more risks with the game. Bigger mobs, bigger spells, more impactful heartrunes, reworked weapons with more interesting skills and so on.
Another answer I expect to see amongst the top concerns for most players.
In a game where virtually everything can be bought or sold through the trading post, giving large sums of free money to players for owning a territory is a huge advantage that is compounded by the fact that gear can be used to defend / take said territories.
Remove the possibility to withdraw gold from territories by companies. Instead, let companies only have a deciding factor in town and territory development. For territory development, add addition of construction of mines and plantations for gathering of either ores, (lode)stones or trees as territory specialization by choice of the owning company. Give the option to furthermore with tax money add guards, level 60 - 65 elites which attack the opposing factions.
This way, territory ownership and taxation benefits a faction, rather than just a company. And in return for owning a territory, you have a deciding say in whether a territory would get extra orichalcum, lodestone or irontree nodes to farm with preference for your faction.
This is such an interesting response. So what you are saying is that AGS is playing too safe. The content they provide isn’t all that different from the mmos we’ve seen before and as a result it isn’t very interesting, engaging or meaningful.
Personally, I would very much like to see World Bosses implemented similarly to how FFXI did Notorious Monsters and Highly Notorious Monsters. However, the zerg mechanism of New World would be an issue and I am not sure players would respond well to a monster claiming mechanism that only gave loot to the party who claimed the monster.
A dedicated PVP/War balance team from AGS with constant updates while also increasing the war frequency, separating the timers from invasions, and adding in ranked/ELO
This has always been an issue going back to launch. Thankfully, AGS appears to be doing a much better job in terms of reaction time and banning players in response to exploits than they were a year ago, as we have seen over the last couple of days.
