What is with this nerf everything ideology?

I definitely agree with the tuning of the healer. But muskets have been around too long to remove the hitscan they have. Maybe AGS could release another sort of rifle that has actual bullet drop, but does more damage.

If fist weapons arent on the 2023 roadmap imma riot

i wouldn’t say this is the first mmo. I play eso and have played runescape before and yeah I’ve seen my fair share of nerf culture, enough to see the damage it causes to the game and the pseudo irreversible changes that take place because it becomes far too difficult to unwreck a system than it takes to simply stand by a decision, knowing you have a plan in development. sometimes even exploits can make a game more fun than what was originally intended. take the original gunz online for example. sure you could bounce off the walls once in a gun fight but when players learned that they could reset all the animations of dashing in mid air by the key strokes of jump dash slash and block and the word got out the game went from a simple run and gun to holy crap everyone is bouncing off the wall and shooting and slashing each other in the air and have we walked into house of flying daggers!? it took skill to play…this game has that potential but if people are complaining about weapons being too powerful and we dont want dodges and we dont want this and that. we are just going to be reduced to this.

The issue with healers is multi-faceted.

Light armor provides simply too much of everything, weapons like hatchet and rapiers pair especially well with the already too mobile light armor, healing is too passive and amounts to putting a ring on the floor, potions cooldowns are non-existent with refreshing toast which just enables infinite resets especially when paired with rapier/light armor, not enough healing reduction debuffs ingame etc.

Any player can effectively reach critical mass through mobility and basic cooldown management to become nigh-immortal. I said this in another thread, this is nothing more than the opposite side of the heavy armor onyx-stacking coin.

AGS really needs to get on this, because clearing this entaglement is going to take a full year at the very least for a competent company, let alone a completely inexperienced one like AGS.

i know where you are going with this. and my retort is to increase the abilities of the heavy armor in the form of a faster locomotive that has a wider hit area ability to adjust for this high mobility of a swift flashy light armor user. again. no nerfs, just buffing something to enhance the gameplay.

with respects of this to include subjectively ignored topics, the npc population should also have reduced attack times to compensate for these features.

This post is plain wrong. 1.6 patch added more power to every weapon perk in the game, and made some other obselete skills more relevant

A good example of this is Rapier’s Flourish and Finish perk is so strong now that you can almost 100-0 a 200con bruiser, imagine what it does to light armor healers. Deadly Frost perk is a must on IG nowadays because of the insane CDR added on 1.6… before that buff most people didnt use that perk. There’s the fire rate buff + better hitbox to bows on 1.5 I believe?

These are just from the top of my head but there’s definitly more buffs that AGS implemented. I can agree that a lot of posts wants nerfs, but saying devs follow suit without thinking is just wrong. They definitly listen to feedback but it’s not like they listen to every “nerf this pls” cries in the forums.

This part makes me laugh because @Jiggyspice is 100% correct and yet, on multiple other forum threads where this comes up, people immediately spaz and scream that it’s 100% incorrect and the economy is fine.

Another reason for a fresh start server. A place that has no duped coin in circulation (at least until it inevitably happens down the road) but… that’s “down the road”.

drop the abbreviations and I’ll respond to you. this whole ASDDGAEHYW$GCD#$@# doesn’t work because it leaves an unnecessary amount of room for miscommunication.

Good good, the fire grows for the break the nerf stick crowd.

Its crazy to me how people are objectively shit at a game and they dont ask for help to get better.

Hence my comment about today’s society needing things adjusted to accommodate them.

Time to trim the talons off these nerf harpies and introduce them to reality, either take the time to get good the game or stay quiet, cannonfodder and be happy.

It literally only has 3 abbreviations: AGS which stands for Amazon game studios, IG which stands for ice Gauntlet and CDR which stands for cooldown reduction. All of these abbreviations are very popular in the forums so I don’t see how this helps miscommunication…

Edit: 4 if you count con, which stands for constitution…

thank you for clarifying and I had to laugh at myself because I used NPC instead of non playable characters. so I’ll admit my hypocrisy. it does get a bit frustrating when you read and then have to spend another 5 minutes sifting through googles advertisements and then finally figure out what was meant when they said #$AERRFD.
and you are totally right. I’m more addressing the multitudes of please nerf posts in the game. and as zenith eluded with the subtly of a runaway freight train, “most mmos go through a buff/nerf cycle” and thanks for that zenith, I do mean that.
this post was more addressing the multitudes of posts saying oh please nerf the rapier, please nerf the life staff, please nerf the bow, please nerf the muskets, please nerf, please nerf, please nerf, and I’m thinking. when will you guys be happy? would it be when we are all just sitting down and watching sesame street?

The non-MMO nature of PvP in this game leads to a lot of confusion. Normally its a lot more straightforward, like:

CC is a problem → X class is best at CC → Nerf X class

But when every classes does damage and avoids damage, its basically whoever has killed you the most that day.

From my point of view, there will never be a game that is 100% balanced. There’s always adjustments that will have to be made, even if it’s just to “shake the meta”, like adding void gauntlet for the game, the weapon is so strong that you need them in your war roster, no matter how much damage they do: The utility is unmatched.

In that sense, the circle of nerf this, buff this and etc, is something that is needed imo. It’s up to the devs to have good judgement to which one do they listen to. Some things are overpowered and other underpowered, sometimes easily able to be seen with data, which the devs do have access but we do not so it’s hard to judge which one is “right”.

What we can do is give our feeeback and then the devs will look up the data and then determine if it’s right or wrong.

My take away from what he was getting at Zenith is that NW has a lot of players that are very loud about their opinions that cry nerf instead of trying to figure out if it is indeed the weapons being “OP” or if they are just handling the combat scenerios poorly. I am in no way going to claim I am some extraordinary NW god and in fact have accepted I have much to work on when it comes to pvp’ing specifically, but I will tell you that from reading a lot of “nerf” posts most people just refuse to learn/use the mechanics given to them in order to counter different styles of play. Which to me is not a balance issue it’s a player laziness issue. Pretty sure I’ve seen you around for a very long time so I would think you could atleast agree to some extent alot of players cry before actually doing proper testing.

I have a feeling its because of pve.

If we were buffing staff from last year, we would do lazarus M10 not in 19 min., but in 9 min.

This is only because of PVP the players always complain about everything and then there constantly stuffing our weapons around the faster they can have there own server or something and get lost the better then our weapons can be mostly stable and wont need nerfs and buffs every week/month.

Im a firm believer that if one thing/mechanic/whatever excels then its time to buff its counter rather than nerfing it to the ground.
It could work especially well in NW. There is not a lot of variables here to begin with.
