I wrote my opinion in another post so won’t repeat all of it. I loved everything that was stated in the video. Fixing the level 1-25 experience is great. My biggest concern is not enough repeatable content. What’s yours?
No word of any new pvp modes/maps is disappointing. PVP desperately needs some attention. Have some balance concerns with the sword and runes. Other than that, looks pretty good.
Glad to hear you liked everything that was included.
No new OPR map… just a lot of PVE content… SMH
It was the best video so far. Looking forward to a new zone and weapon and hopefully fixes to the economy and better look of the world.
But yeah pvp fun and competition brings players back to games. Until players are really enjoying the pvp content they will beat the new zone and then leave. New pvp game modes and improvement on the world pvp would have been nice to hear.
We will see if these “new” enemies are new or just reskinned enemies we’ve faced before. That’s the big deal. If they don’t make some new stuff and it’s all reskins there’s no use getting hyped for any updates.
Greatsword looks good. Lots of old weapons need to be updated to a similar template.
No PVP modes/maps or new ideas
No open world Pve large scale boss’s
No mounts
Zone, new mobs and gemstone idea look great though
no mention of hippos ![]()
looking forward to the new / updated / expanded lore though :3
I liked it. Good seeing future stuff instead of just stuff we had been playing on PTR for a month already.
I’m sad there will be no transmog.
No mentions on 1 year anniversary either.
Excited about the new map, dungeons, new Everfall and Monarch’s Bluffs.
Episode 9: A New Hope
Like most of the player base, I’ve been dormant for months, but I have been keeping tabs on New World’s development from time to time, and I must say, I think this update is finally the one that can bring me back.
I had been worried that much of what I saw during my hiatus from the game seemed like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, but I know the big stuff takes time and it’s a relief to see that behind the scenes the team has indeed been working on major improvements that can truly turn the game around.
As a desert lover, I am VERY excited about the Brimstone Sands regional motif, and frankly that alone would be enough to pull me back in to explore it, but that’s just the start.
The offense/defense versatility of the Greatsword is also a big draw for me. I love that kind of stuff, and wouldn’t mind seeing that approach applied to other weapons – especially less popular options – down the road.
The starting area changes will definitely be a welcome breath of fresh air not just for new players, but for all players given how much time is spent there at all levels, and the intention of rolling that process throughout the higher-level areas as well is exactly what I wanted to hear.
Finally, the move to address the elephant in the room of territory control mechanics leading to shell companies, monopolies, map control stasis and overall server stagnation is, in my opinion, long overdue, but quite possibly the master key to getting server populations to finally start rising again.
Redesigning and tuning territory control and keeping it from strangling servers will be a long and arduous task fraught with all manner of challenges, but get it right and this game will once again rock the world.
All in all a great Team Update Video that has at long last given me a glimpse of a brighter future for the game and community.
Please keep up the good work! My heart is with you. ![]()
how does scot lane still have a job?
Actually excited about something in New World for once since launch. It’s clear they’re making headway and actually listening to us for the most part.
Loved everything about it - I hope raids are on the horizon though! Give small companies with 10-20 friends some challenging pve content to play together!
I’d honestly play a lot more if my player looked the way I wanted them to but also functioned well at the same time. Not to sound shallow haha but a big part of my experience with games is my ability to visually express my character and show off my armor combinations. It’s rather difficult in new world. The armor I wanted was virtually IMPOSSIBLE to get from OPR for months and months until the OPR loot change (thank god) You usually either sacrifice originality (just use store skins) or wear armor objectively worse just for the looks.
new enemies have different attacks and animations. how is that reskinned?
They think any mob with 2 arms, 2 legs, a head, and carrying a weapon is “reskinned”
