Good point… I would say destiny is a looter shooter WITH pvp… not a pvp game, so i’d agree with you’re post here. However, destiny has 1 thing new world doesn’t, which is separate scaling for weapons in pve and pvp
I’m in the same boat. My friends would rather play rocket league. So mmorpgs were never their thing anyways.
They scale to 600 in NW too.
In destiny you have weapons that are only available for a certain period (like the weapons from trial) that end up giving you unreal advantages in PvP, it’s an MMORPG after all. But just like in destiny skill will be able to make up for perks or gs difference.
Playing an MMORPG if u want gear to not matter is pointless… that’s what mobas and shooters are for.
Trruuue, gear should def matter
The world in general keeps me playing. Sure at times I just sit there thinking of something to do but I am usually always doing something otherwise. I love the expeditions. I just wish they made them cross realm and had more than 2 mutations a week because I love the new one but since it isn’t mutated anymore, not many are running it and when I tried to create one, couldn’t get a full group.
But I just love the music in all the zones and just running around out in the world which makes me want to farm things.
I am not like others who can play 6+ hours a day as I don’t have tons of time. I only have 2.6k hrs and I have been playing since day 1 and logging on almost everyday (Saturdays I am not usually around so that has been the only days I miss). Weeknights I only usually get in around 3-4 hrs a night as I play other games too. So maybe that is why I still love this game and still have things to do.
I also love the chest runs. I know some are tired of them but I have yet to get tired of them. It is always just a lot of fun for me running around with a bunch of people and talking and just killing and looting things. No stress and don’t have to overly focus like m10s so that is why they are fun for me when I need a break from m10s.
I do some pvp too. Not really hard core into it but I’ll do some OPRs and have been lucky enough to be in some wars. So I do play all aspects of the game which helps too.
I came from WoW having been playing that since day 1 of its launch and never took a break and was a hard core raider from Vanilla up till mid WoD and then just did heroic raiding. I played many other mmos during WoW but none kept my interest like WoW so when New World did and ended up making me want to play this as my main mmo and now WoW very casually on the side says a lot to me.
I can’t wait for raids here too as long as it is not just a 1 boss fight raid. I want a real raid like WoW with 6-10 actual bosses in a huge immersive place.
What keeps me playing? AGS provides such a wonderful forum where topics and discussions are so easily followed. Information is easily shared between players in such an organized fashion.
Oh wait, I just heard the forum is going away. DOH!
Hope, the game is “new” yet, there are a big space for grow, great things they can add in the game, and i hope the game be great with a lot of content and take back people to play, here in SA on the launch we can barely play due the long qeues, now we have 2 servers only with 1k players in each, one Legacy and one Fresh. I want to see these numbers grow in the future with more content to play.
Maybe some ocean content? We are in a island, with pirates and ghosts, maybe sea monsters? Who knows ![]()
PVP combat even if it’s unbalanced, even if my spells not hitting, even if I die from a firestaff without even landing a hit on him.
its pretty evident that you dont understand what a sustainable bussiness is
Yes and thanks for that. But you really should try the game out at some point, you might even find something you like about it ![]()
OF COURSE PVE is what make a game profitable LOL but you dont understand what the game acutally need to keep it alive
Crafting, exploration, art, game play. I am so tired of playing 15 year old MMOs that look and feel their age.
One of the reasons I rarely touch New World these days. Is the very reason that MMOs that there are MMOs that are 10 or more years old. That have better looking player characters and customization options than New World. And since having decent looking player character and customization options seem to be at the bottom of AGS’s priority list. I guess those MMOs that are 10+ years old will stay miles more popular than New World.
I am a masochist
Archivements
i do know what it doesnt need, people who plays it for 2 months.
I log in for wars and territory pushing as big PvP action is all I care about anymore as I’ve done all the pve arenas and dungeons more times than I care to admit.
New dungeons are fun but when they timegate mutated dungeons to 2 a week I think that is dumb. Why can’t we do whatever mutated dungeon whenever we wanted and just change the mutators around each week. Just feels like the old orb situation. Other games have 100+ dungeons and just let the players play.
Opr mode is a ranged, backcapping, pve boring meta with little changes over the years, invasions haven’t been touched since they began and are just a waste of time unless it’s your company and can catch up with people for 45 minutes. 3v3 is okay but after a couple I’d rather just go duel people
I’m just waiting for another release.
Diablo 4 appears to be the closest.
Most honest answer I’ve seen in a while
I play both PvE and PvP, but in an MMO my default will always be PvE. If I want a pure PvP experience I’ll play Battlefield.
For me, MMO’s are fantasy worlds that require a sense of adventure and immersion. PvP is more of a personal e-peen type activity. Probably also explains why, since NW focused so strongly on PvP initially, that it has some of the worst player names I’ve ever seen in an MMO, because PvP players often don’t care about the fantasy world of the MMO, and they insert themselves into their character.
Whereas, many PvE’ers like to stop and smell the roses, get immersed, and create a character that fits that world. They’re more likely to give their characters more world-appropriate or roleplay type names.
I can pretty much tell what kind of player a person is in NW just based on how they named their character.
