What made New World amazing for me as a gamer

So I have played many MMORPGs over the years, including all of the big ones, and quite a few of the smaller ones.

I figured I’d list off some of the experiences I had that really made me enjoy New World, that seemed different to me, hopefully Amazon can build on these things in the future.

If you have had the same experience, or other great ones, list them off here so Amazon can see what people are really experiencing positively so they can continue on the right path!

1.) First time logging into the game, I noticed how freakin good the game looked, the color pallet is perfect and the massive amount of shrubs and everything everywhere just put me in aw of how good the game looked.

2.) Soon after, I started to explore and I started randomly hearing chopping of wood, mining of ore, and it was one of the coolest things I’ve experienced in an MMO. If someone told me in person or on paper that you could hear people at a distance doing this, I would of shrugged. Actually experiencing this in game is something else… I can’t explain it, it’s just really cool, and makes the game feel alive in a way I haven’t experience in an MMO yet.

3.) Going prone turns off your name plates. Again, if someone told me this on paper or in person without me experiencing it, I would of shrugged. However this is just awesome. I am a big fan of PvP, and I’ve done a lot of PvP faction missions… Seeing a pack of enemies players coming towards you, and jumping down into prone actually gives you a good shot of hiding and them not finding you because there is so many shrubs and vegetation in the game that hides you really well, and it’s almost impossible to see a person hiding like this without name plates (damn good job on this Amazon)

4.) Proximity voice chat. This should be a feature in all MMORPGs going forward in my opinion. You can easily toggle it off if you don’t like it, or only set it to group party… But this is simply a fantastic ability for an MMORPG. They also seem to have a pretty good noise cancelation system, which is great. Doing dungeons, just having the option to hold down a key to talk to your group without having to set stuff up every time is great. Even if other people don’t want to talk, it’s helpful for the tank or who ever is trying to explain a boss.

5.) Dungeons. So, I heard this game wasn’t going to have many PvE elements when they first starting releasing info about it, and a lot of people went against the studio saying, “Hey, we want some PvE.” I’m glad those people did, I’ve only done one dungeon in the game so far (multiple times over) and I can say, I had way more fun in it then I did in other MMORPG dungeons (even as a PvP player). I will say, they need some work regarding mass amount of mobs, but I feel like the boss fights were done great, and holy man, did that last boss of Amrine make my heart pump trying to tank him. I finally figured out a really good way of beating that boss, which requires kiting him around the area in a circle and having perfect timing dodging him when he rushes me… I usually find tanking in MMORPGs one of the most boring rolls, but not in New World.

Oh, is that why I find people hunkered down in the hemp all the time?

Nice try, Amazon employee, but you failed
Game is tiny, buggy and boring without any content (no battlegrounds, no arenas, no raids, 4 dungeons and no end game content at all)

No-life the game a little less and it’s great. If you rush to max level obviously you have nothing to do because you’re one of maybe 10 people on your server who have done that lol.

Dang, talk positively about something you enjoy and all of a sudden people saying I’m an employee? Lol…

Maybe if I start talking positively about Space X I’ll get hired, I’d love that!

Might I honestly suggest then taking a break and coming back when things are more to your liking? I do not for the life of me understand lurking forums just to talk about a game you seem to hate.

Haha maybe…

Next time try talking to them in voice chat, if they look confused, a bit paranoid or start replying to you very slowly, almost like they are in a far off distant land… Well, it might be for other reasons.

I’m sorry. But I have to agree with you.

Some good tips in here, thanks Lancin! DIdn’t know about the prone for PvP. I might actually flag up again knowing that. If they would only fix PvP quest so I don’t lose them when I die.

Being a soloer most of the time but attempting to contribute to my faction for PvP and being penalized for dying after having spent 40 mins on quests while flagged should have counted for something. But instead I die on the way back which equated to nothing more then time lost.

Initially I turned off the proximity chat. I may have to turn it back on for dungeons as I feel like I was really the only one using keyboard to communicate the majority of the time. So a button press would be a nice alternative in dungeons.

The graphics are amazing and dungeons are indeed fun. I haven’t had this much fun in an MMO since ESO came out. And I played that game a couple years. However, after release, Bethesda did a lot of things wrong and I hope Amazon doesn’t follow their lead.

I like the crafting in New World too, it’s simple enough to understand easily but complex enough to have fun with. I like the auction house being town-specific. I like houses and furnishing them and excited that now everyone can see my house in Monarch’s Bluffs!

New World did a lot of things right that ticked a lot of boxes for me and I hope that continues in the future.

You’re your own game! Don’t copy ESO!

I don’t like the artstyle they went with, but oh my lord did they nail everything else. I am so enchanted by the mechanics, by the flawless execution of the ux, the idea to tie classes to weapons, crafting, farming, questdesign, conquest and its foresight to make the world alive. There is so many potential pitholes they could have stepped into, so many little things going on beyond gameplay that could have turned this thing into a giant dumpsterfire, all of which they seemingly got just right. The whole tech is in one word: Amazing. Sure, there is potential for finetuning, qol and content but that’s talk of the future. I really like it and i honestly wasn’t expecting that.

Yeah i am really sad about this game because of this reason. I really liked it exactly the reasons that you mentioned. Yet, after 2 days playing i’ve really upset because they killed really good idea with that grind logic. With good story and less grind this game could be awesome. Now i have to wait for 10 years until next hyped mmo release.

This is actually the first game I’ve played where I’ve actually enjoyed the grind. I realize that will pall before very long, of course.

I agree that the sound and lighting and colors and textures are top notch. I’ve never been in a game world that felt so alive just because of the sounds - and the knowledge that it’s real people making those sounds and it will keep going pretty much forever, because people will always be mining and chopping down trees. Reading back over this paragraph it sounds stupid, but some of you will know what I mean.

high five to the person who said he’d never had so much fun in a game since ESO. I feel the same, and for very similar reasons.

Can you sneak or prone to hide from or sneak up on mobs? Or are those mechanics solely for PvP?

I’m rather envious of Lancin’s experience with proimity voice chat. It is utterly disfunctional for me. The very, very few voices I’ve heard are low volume and distorted so badly that I can’t make out what they’re saying. It’s not a big issue, because if my friends were ever to play this game we’d use Discord. I’m only a little sad that I can’t have the experience.
